An address from the office of the Speaker of Parliament of TRTHNBB:

For almost a year now, I’ve had the honor to serve in this Parliament of TRTHNBB as a legislator, a committee chair, and now Speaker of Parliament. I’ve learned so much about writing, responsibility, accountability; I’ve overall became a much better leader because of this incredible experience! I’ve enjoyed this last year so much! So I thank you all for electing my twice to the position of Speaker of Parliament, because it’s been a truly amazing ride. However, every trip must have a destination, and this trip is about to come to a close. I will not be running for a third term as Speaker of Parliament (at least not now). If I find the passion to return to this someday, maybe I’ll be right back where I am now.

Now let me clarify, I’m not just riding off into the sunset or retiring from being on here. I just have other interests that I’d like to pursue in NBB that relate to other aspects of NS that I quite enjoy.

I know that I will be running at least one more VS, so let’s start getting some bills in! Once again, thank you all so much for this opportunity!

Sincerely,
The Kaverian, Speaker of Parliament of TRTHNBB

P.s. I know it’s a bit early to say it, but if anyone wants to run for Speaker, I encourage you to do it! And if you have any questions feel free to ask me over TG or DM!

-- Veto of the Amendment to the Establishment of the Election Commission --

I'd like to announce that I will be exercising my veto power on the recently-passed Amendment to the Establishment of the Election Commission.

While Western Arba Fir has the best interests of the region in mind and this legislation seeks to promote a positive goal for our regional elections, I am of the opinion that it is unconstitutional.

Article IX, Section III of the Constitution specifically allows any citizen with no history in raiding to run for elected office. This bill would undermine the authority of our Constitution by placing additional requirements which are well beyond the stipulations of the fundamental law of our region. Regardless of their intent, Western Arba Fir's legislation would be a blow to our regional institutions. I would have brought this matter to our Regional Court, but I cannot be certain that this concern would be heard in a reasonable amount of time. Therefore, in the best interests of our region, I am compelled to veto this legislation.

I now turn this matter over to our Speaker of Parliament, The Kaverian, in order to ensure the vote to overturn or uphold my veto is administered fairly and within the bounds of our region's law.

Thank you.

Prime Minister

I believe in these circumstances a veto is unjustified, we already have a process to follow if we believe a bill is unconstitutional (via a complaint to the regional court). We also have at least 6 weeks until the next election so there’s plenty of time for the regional court to review. Considering the overwhelming support for the bill, I will be making a recommendation that we overturn this.

It's once again voting time! This one is a veto overturn vote about Warba's amendment to the election commission. Make sure to read the above arguments

Overwhelming support is great, but a veto is an opportunity for the PM to publicly address the region and give their thoughts to Parliament as a whole. I wouldn't be issuing this veto if I didn't think it was right for the region -- I haven't used my veto until now because I recognize that it is intended for extenuating circumstances. I am of the opinion that this is one of those circumstances, and I am entitled to use my veto.

I don't dispute you have the right to veto, and that's fine. But you already placed your arguments that the bill would be unconstitutional prior to MPs voting and it still reached a majority - so the legal route is a complaint to the court.

Communiqué from the Praesidium House

In the time since Syrasia has stepped down as the deputy prime minister of the region, we in The Commonwealth Party have discussed what course of action to take in the absence of our leader.

After deliberating, we have decided that we will be dissolving The Commonwealth Party, effective immediately. It was a good run, but it was inevitable that this would happen after Syrasia's departure. To this point, there were only 3 full members of The Commonwealth Party, which will now be 0 upon this statement being released.

(There is no leader of The Commonwealth Party anymore)

I do not believe that the Gov or a commission should have the power to disqualify a candidate. I do believe that Western had good intent in trying to ensure election dignity and stability.

I'm not gonna lie, I am not thrilled at all with this, we can't have a single party!

I do feel that if its only one party we shouldn't have any.

I agree. I also feel that The New Way's platform is broader than what would be considered a 'party' in the traditional sense, it strikes me as more of an advocacy group. TNW does quite a good job of being an advocacy group, but it doesn't really operate in the way you'd expect from a traditional party.

I agree with NUCL here, the election is 6 weeks from now which is plenty of time for the regional court to review. I also recommend that we overturn the veto.

I feel like that’s slightly misleading, I can’t imagine it’ll be more than 3 weeks before the election commission needs to be assembled.
