The Star Empire of Huerdae

I assume it was a population boom. He stopped producing weapons, thinking he was fine, and then furries did what furries do and he had increased his population 100 times over.

Also, I may be nut-jobs with guns, but I tend to avoid the libido-driven label. Xis can have that. I'll just go with "really short nut jobs with really big guns" label, if there are no complaints.

If there are complaints, I'll just add you to the list of people to receive my primary export.

The Metacausal Big Bad Daddy of Kyrusia

Hue, you're such a colorful welcome wagon.

Welcome... Howitzer. Welcome self-propelled artillery.

The Resplendent Technocracy of Red Talons

I wish my population would explode like that... according to the last few issues apparently my birth rates are dropping... This makes literally no sense to me.

Also, you may want to be careful how much you emphasize your large guns, people may suspect you're compensating for something... Probably being short.

The Cyborg Bathhouse of Senkaku

Or having small arms.

The Kiith Federation Expeditions of Feazanthia

Or having small feet.

Lokii

5/4 you can solve that sort of problem with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGCaACqy1Ro ... Cloning vats!

The Metacausal Big Bad Daddy of Kyrusia

That feeling when you suddenly realized you're using a slightly anachronistic spelling of a word, but no one tells you, and you go back and correct it all feeling insanely embarrassed for yourself - but also a bit thankful no one seemingly noticed.

...

That feeling when you post about the above, realizing now people will notice. ;___;

Lokii

I'm pretty sure we've all made worse typos/mistakes.. -slips back in to the shadows and continues taking over the- giving structure to the galaxies financial system! While putting forth a bottle of vintage scotch as a distraction-

But seriously there's nothing wrong with archaic terminology :P After all its useful for insulting someone in a way that they don't know what your on about ;).

(Kidding..)

The Stygian Malignancy of Rethan

HAI EVERYONE.

I STOLE THE WIFI OF A BARBER'S AGAIN AND NOW I AM HERE HAHAHAHAHA.

The Star Empire of Huerdae

...and now we know, The Local Cluster was doomed because some barber didn't secure the wifi. THANK YOU HARCUTTER PERSON. WE REALLY APPRECIATE THAT.

The Metacausal Big Bad Daddy of Kyrusia

I am unsure as to what "har" is or why it need be cut, but yes, we're now obviously all doomed.

'Cept maybe not, because Refan is adorable. :B

The Star Empire of Huerdae

It's a pirate barber. >.>

The Metacausal Big Bad Daddy of Kyrusia

So it's going to be ruthlessly pursued by Huerdaen spess dwarves until it ceases to exist through force of arms... or becomes Huerdaen.

This is what I'm inferring from this dialogue.

The Star Empire of Huerdae

...HUERDAEN ARE NOT SPACE DWARVES!

Dwarves are shorter. Huerdaen are just short humans. And they're way too scrawny to be called dwarves.

The Metacausal Big Bad Daddy of Kyrusia

Shhh... It's okay, we love you for your cramped decking and brutally cruel emphasis on volume to maximize firepower. :P

The Star Empire of Huerdae

They're smaller so they eat less....that was the initial goal, actually. They require less food and air. maximizinf firepoewr was just convenient and fun.

The Metacausal Big Bad Daddy of Kyrusia

See, for some reason I thought that went the other way: that the maximizing ship volume through generational shrinking of personnel space lead to having a modified physiology and metabolic rate, but that the initial reason was for maximizing firepower - not to decrease required necessities.

Either way, though, it leads to significant brain damage to any potential boarding force. ;__;

The Star Empire of Huerdae

It was not a guided path, actually. The predominance of short Huerdaen is simply because that was the easiest demographic to maintain with extremely long supply lines. Food, water, air, and clothing was much cheaper when everyone is a foot shorter, so in the initial days of the expansion of the Huerdaen nation, the short, slim, and durable were cybernetically augmented and sent off as colonists. This slowly made the culture have an ideal mate of someone short, slim, and rugged. Over time, the colonists outproduced the homeworlders, and the height dropped on Pantos as well, to the current averages.

It was not expected, planned, or guided ICly. It was a side-effect of the most efficient path.

The Metacausal Big Bad Daddy of Kyrusia

Happy accidents in world-building are some of the best, most rewarding, and most defining characteristics that can sometimes arise out of the aether, it seems. :D

The Resplendent Technocracy of Red Talons

For a minute there, I was imagining a starship run by Kender...

UPDATE:

Embassies with The Milky Way Galaxy and the Raumreich Oversector have been completed; currently, any user which has a region with TLC can post here in order to maximize community-wide communication. Hopefully this will prove useful and be utilized to its full extent. We're still in the process of discussing other regions which play an active role in Future Tech and tertiary communities. If you know of a region which you feel might benefit from an embassy, or which would otherwise help interconnect the FT community through sharing an embassy with TLC, please feel free to send this account or Kyrusia a telegram.

Thank you, and again: welcome to everyone!

Genomita

"The star community of Genomita would like to extend cordial greetings to it's fellow nation. We believe that there is much that we can learn fron one another and will gladly answer any questions your people might have concering us.

On the subject of smaller colonists, the star community has these as well. Due to the organic, or to be more specific plant-like nature of genomitan spaceships the insides of all but the largest vessels tend to be somewhat cramped. It was partially for this reason that a large number of early Genomitan spacers modified their genes so that both they and following generations would remain smaller than the average human. The same "smalls" as they are colloquially known also tend fare a great deal better on high-g worlds. The Raizan genomitans in particular might match the huerdaen ideal of "short, slim and rugged" if you're not bothered by the additional set of arms and the fact that our people are hermaphrodites."

-Miya Qorin, chosen envoy of the high council.

The Metacausal Big Bad Daddy of Kyrusia

Welcome, Genomita.
