Scottfire | Either that, or a nation somewhere that's so inclement that entire cities are large interconnected buildings (not dystopian, people would know there's an outside world and could go outside but there's not much to do there) for whatever reason, probably resource extraction or electricity generation or whatever. I've heard there are towns in northern Canada that are similar to that. This might be way too deep RP for this region though.

The People's Commonwealth of Ankuran | Oh, cool, you'll probably appreciate this then if you don't already know it. You're doubtless familiar with the phenomenon of lunar pareidolia even if you don't know it by that name: it's seeing shapes in the light and dark spots on the moon. Oftentimes the dark spots are interpreted as a human (typically a man, or a person's face) or a rabbit (common in Asian and Mesoamerican cultures). Sometimes, however, it's interpreted as a tree. In certain parts of China, for instance, it's a cinnamon tree under which sits the moon rabbit, shading his feet. Thanks to a private subreddit I'm part of (called, fittingly enough, r/TheFlyingTree), I found out recently that in Vietnam, the dark spots are a banyan tree which flew to the moon (and, believe it or not, that legend has nothing to do with the sub's name) with a man named Cuoi (don't have Vietnamese enabled on my keyboard so I can't do the right diacritics) sitting beneath it. In the relevant legend, the banyan is a life-giving tree discovered and tended to by a man named Cuoi. He was told to only water it with clean water, lest it fly into the sky. Cuoi did so, and freely gave of the tree to heal any who asked. Yadda yadda yadda, and Cuoi gets married. His wife is forgetful, though exactly why depends on the teller (the version I was told involved her dying, and being revived through the banyan's magic and the sacrifice of Cuoi's dog), and she takes to relieving herself in the yard. Cuoi tells her not to relieve herself near the tree, but one day she does, and the tree begins to uproot itself and take to the sky. Cuoi drives his axe into the bark to try to pull it down, but he ends up dragged into the sky with it, eventually landing on the moon. So when you look up into the sky, you can see Cuoi sitting beneath his banyan, as they've been there ever since.
