Every now and then, I become restless with my current flag and have to begin tinkering away. It happens more frequently than I'd care to admit. Likely, this will not be it's final form, but I like the colors and general design.

What do you use to make your flags?

Inkscape. It's a free and open source vector graphics program. My understanding is it's basically a free version of Adobe Illustrator. Another similar tool, and one that might be more intuitive, is GIMP, which is supposedly a free version of what Adobe Photoshop does. I would definitely recommend Inkscape, though you definitely need to watch a tutorial or two, as it's not as simple to figure out as when you open up whatever paint program comes with your computer.

If you ever try it out and require some assistance, feel free to reach out. Alternatively, if you have a design in mind, I also just enjoy trying my hand at making flags for others.

DefenderVision has invited us to participate in this year's event, and to send a "regional representative" to sit on their judging panel.
If anyone's interested in being that representative, please let me know, and we'll hold a poll to select our representative.
It doesn't sound like it should be particularly strenuous work, but be aware you'll have to take the time to go through all the entries.

If you want more information, there's a forum thread here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=510480

Aight, so far no-one's shown interest.
I guess I'll give it another couple days or so, but otherwise I suppose I'll just go.

Thanks! Is there any way to save your post? I will probably want it in the future.

Hmm...not how you can save posts in a place like reddit. I usually rely on the search function for RMBs (found if you click on "Forum View" at the bottom of this page, or the "Board" icon at the top), and hope I can remember the relevant keywords combined with the author. I also keep a word doc for NS related things, copying and pasting quotes and info from the site that I think I might want to come back to at some point. Or, you can just ask again :P

Back in the days before the advent of the never-ending RMB, I used to keep Word documents for the regions that I was in because the RMB's used to hold only 10 posts before the first one was pushed off into oblivion.

Oh...oh well now this is just awkward. Right. Well...of course, I was speaking of the mid century Irish artist Francis Bacon. I am especially fond of his works in triptychs, my favorite being "Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion," which depicts stylized versions of the three Greek goddesses of vengeance and blood debt - the Erinyes or Furies - purportedly for a Crucifixion scene that was never completed and likely never meant to be started in the first place:

I consider dat to be very offensive. It would make me feel unsafe if I didn't weigh half a ton and carry a heavy club, a Taser and a loaded handgun as a law enforcement professional dere. Be careful what you say about bacon and odder such unhealty banned substances, which should be left in deir natural environment radder dan being forcibly removed and processed into so-called "breakfast meat" dere, as I sometimes has difficulty telling dose tools of my trade apart.

I confess, I had no idea Canadian Thanksgiving was a thing until yesterday.
My impression currently is that it's celebrating not everyone dying on an Arctic expedition.
Don't know if that's accurate, but I'll happily take any excuse to eat too much.

Walking to the store in winter is an arctic expadition!

I never did get the whole "don't eat pigs" thing. Is there something about the hoofs that make it inedible? Seems to me this is multicultural; I think it is not eaten by Jews, Muslims, and in some African peoples (if I can believe what I read in "Roots"). I'm guessing that the ancients got the correlation between eating pigs and developing trichinosis.

Myself, I think it's rather tasty to consume the occasional pig.
