the other problem is that many of the nuances in ranked voting that you and 24D were debating depend on there being two or three polls so options are limited - if ballots can be written as posts, this obstacle is removed and so are many of the differences. now i won’t lie, some of the finer points in STV or ranked voting or whatever go over my head, but it seems to me like the most simple system involves ranking all candidates, then the candidate with least votes is eliminated, their votes transferred, and process starts again until someone has more than 50%, as Seas describes. if there’s a loophole in this system, (as opposed to a loophole in the idea of outsourcing to google forms, which we’re treating separately), please explain it and how it might be resolved or improved upon.
