Sad to see you go Matroyska. You have been one of the closest people I'd ever get to a 'friend' on anything like NS, and you have been a great asset to Lorania. Alongside Skundi, you were one of the few unifying figures in this region - basically everyone respected you and supported you. Thanks for your compliments and kind words about me, and I wish you luck in whatever you want to do. On the DRF Guardian issue, I recommend that you contact Skundi - while he's not logging onto that nation, he's still on NS as Pap Sculgief from what I know.

So as Deputy PM I now officially become Acting PM. While the normal duties for someone in my position would be to organise a snap election, that is not our concern now. The main focus for the coming days shall be the question of whether or not to close Lorania. While Lorania holds a place close to my heart, I also know that keeping the region running would be extremely difficult. Even if we could sort out the problems with arguing (which we have come an awfully long way to doing), we would need very extensive reforms to make up for all the people who have been leaving (Seas, Skundi, Matroyska and Sirian have all left in the past few days).

I will make public my ideas for reform, although I feel like I don't want to go through with them anymore, at least not in Lorania. Here they are, just in case anyone thinks that they're a really good idea. Basically, the position of Deputy PM is abolished, the WA Delegate becomes Deputy to the PM, but cannot hold any other positions. The PM and the WA Delegate automatically become MPs due to their positions. But I don't think that this would work in Lorania.

I will follow the results of the poll when it closes tomorrow. Your vote will only be counted if you are a citizen - therefore no-one can commit puppet fraud. Please vote if you want your voice heard. Personally, I believe that closing the region might be the best course of action, so I open this RMB up officially for cabinet discussion (although those not in the cabinet can also take part) on the issue of whether we close or not. Please be civil, constructive and willing to listen to people's views.

If we decide not to close, we will have to take a path of very radical reform. I will do what I can to work on it, but I won't be able to serve as Acting PM forever - while we can go against one of my principles and ignore the constitution, I don't want to take it to the extreme, so a snap election will have to be held at some point. Again, we cannot just continue without reform to improve the situation in the region.

If we decide to close the region (which is seeming increasingly likely), as Acting PM, I will co-ordinate with Devionsa as Founder in the process of closing the region, with help from Cousethii with a few adjustments to her APOCYLYPSE NOW Act. The region will eventually be passworded and people be encouraged to move out, although I will do my upmost to allow people to keep nations here if they feel they cannot move out - although they will be asked to refrain from posting on the RMB. Embassies will also be closed. Details will become more apparent nearer the time.

While it is an honour to serve as Acting PM for this region again, although I might end up being the last person in said office, it is with great sadness that I have to.

Itís so sad to see Matroyska go, I really wasnít seeing it coming. Theyíve been a great regionmate to all of us, and I doubt that anyone here has anything bad to say about them. I wish them the best of luck for the future, and theyíll always be welcome if they choose to return in that future.

About the leaving discussion:
I really donít like the idea of Lorania dying, but I do think that itís the right thing to do. Lorania probably wonít ever recover from its wounds, which is sad, but it would be foolish to just ignore it. I recommend that we make Celtia the official destination (but still allow anyone to move to wherever they wish), in order to try and keep whatís left of this community alive. At least there, we can learn from the mistake we made here, and refrain from having hostile arguments, just like how Lorania was from late August until Early October. Hopefully, we can recreate that in Celtia.

Lorania was my first ever region, and Iíd gladly help to keep it active, but I fear that Lorania is crippled too much to save. I would do anything to go back to how Lorania was in Autumn, but sadly thatís the curse of time. Iíll write my farewells to those who wonít be sharing a region with me in the near future.

Important post!

So as we can probably tell, the Loranian government has been totally gutted since many of the major nations left, and decisive action is required to keep the region intact. I propose a comprehensive Lorania Recovery Plan which can run Lorania on emergency power until a permanent solution can be reached.

In order to gather support, I will form the Loranian Loyalist Committee to hold the region together. If any still maintain hope, join me to secure Loranian democracy. The LLU's primary focuses will be to reorganize the government to keep Lorania active and alive until recovery efforts can begin. In order to rebuild Lorania's numbers, I propose a recruitment campaign which would be personalized to each recipient nation, with the goal of selling the sense of community Lorania was built upon.

We are in an age of darkness, my friends, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Lorania is what we spent so long to cultivate, and we shall not let it go out with a whimper!

Lorania is not yet lost!

Please no - we really need Celtia to keep going. And we really need both me and Ogliacia in Celtia at least until it is built enough for it to be kept running by others. We're both vital for it.

Ogliacia, if you're going to say that you're considering reducing your roles, keep on in Celtia, even if you don't do much more here anymore.

Relax you two, Celtia isnít closing, hereís my complete announcement:

Hi everyone I have an announcement to make.

You may or may not have realised this over the past few months, but my activity has been steadily decreasing, and itís amazing that Iíve been able to keep it at this level. Since the lessening of coronavirus restrictions, Iíve been struggling to keep as active as I used to be. And so, Iím finding it more and more difficult to juggle all my positions, and now Iíve come to sad realisation that an action I never wanted to do must be done.

I going to have to resign from a few positions:

MP - Iím sadly going to have to resign from this role, even though Iíd love to stay. I just donít have the time anymore to continue serving in the HoC, though it has been great.

RP Manager - The RP has been dead for months now, and itís about time I let go of Loranian RP Region Founder. Its CTEing will remove the RP region, but I donít think that anything on itís RMB is worth preserving.

Loranian Polling Station Founder - I donít think Iíll be able to continue my duties on this nation anymore, which is sad, I enjoyed it a lot.

LoraniaNews - It never really got on to its feet, but I was keeping it for its Loranian news article archives.

Iím not resigning from Regional Historian just yet, as Iíll create one or two more archives for Lorania.

BTW everyone, please remember that only legal citizensí vote count in the poll.
The current results are:
Close: 5
Stay: 4

So the poll has closed and it shows us that this region is divided.... again.

I would say that it is important to note that we now have 5 government roles unfilled. This is unprecedented in Loranian history. I note that we have had very few suggestions on how we can fix the issues that this region faces. I thank Tai Pei for their ideas, but inactivity is not the main problem. The main problem is the divisions that this region has faced over the past 7-9 months, which has led to burnout and inactivity over the past few months, and several nations leaving. Recruitment would probably not fix this. One thing is for sure, we cannot continue without a strong plan going forward.

As for what to do now, I'm a bit stuck. I was going to make this post to officially announce the beginning of the procedure of closing the region, but Cousethii's last minute vote leading to the tie in the poll (when only including citizens), made that a bit of a hard situation. Some may laugh at my indecisiveness, but I don't want to make any irrational decisions. I recommend that we continue this discussion so that we can reach a decision soon. If we don't have a plan by the end of the weekend, I will probably have to close the region.

My personal view is now that the damage done to Lorania is beyond repair. By the time that we had a unifying figure as PM, it was too late. So I personally think that we should close, but I don't want to force it down upon anyone, as I don't want to upset those who wanted to keep the region open (I know the feeling - I supported remain in the EU referendum IRL, so I know how hard it is to lose a vote and have your voice not listened to).

Us, the citizens of the Lorania face a difficult decision. That is, emotion vs pragmatism. Emotionally, this place is our home, and I, like most of us, feel attached to it and want to keep it. Pragmatically, we're down by 5 government officials and need to organise 3 by-elections (1 for PM, 2 for HoC), and we still haven't healed our wounds left by the months of arguing and two factions tearing each other apart. If we can't fix that, we will never recover. So there faces our choice. Those of us who've been here for most of this region's history, such as Stolk, Zweites and Devionsa, probably feel that we can't leave, and I feel the same. But I feel that we have very few options.

Let us continue this discussion, until there is general consensus on the way forward. If there is no workable plan within the next few days, I will close this region.

Edit:

Skundi did say that Lorania should break up, so should that count as a vote for breaking up?

If we end up deciding that we should stay, I predict that we will probably end up leaving by the end of the month due to Lorania's irepairable wounds.

I propose an alliance with the region Tarkin. Who is our Secretary of State?

The JOIN LORANIA of Donelant Holorendal

1. Only votes from the poll should be counted.
2. I think that without "yes" winning, any closing would be illegal.
3. I declare candidacy for PM.

Everything that has been happening recently looks like a few people just decided to kill Lorania- first the old Discord server, then the region.

The Kingdom of Tai Pei

In accordance with the state of the region, I will rename the Loranian Loyalist Union to the United Loranian Salvation Committee. Any who support the ULSC should form a cohesive bloc to vote against any more legislation which will deteriorate the situation even further.

The Kingdom of Tai Pei

The Lorania Recovery Plan

As the decline of the region has slowed down, it is now appropriate to line out the measures needed to keep Lorania alive.

PHASE 1

First things first, to streamline the Loranian government, several offices should be merged, so that we can run the region should more people jump ship to keep the region operating until we can rebuild our numbers. This will, unfortunately, mean postponing Loranian democracy, however dysfunctional it was, to maintain what we worked to cultivate.

PHASE 2

Once the situation has hopefully stabilized, the Loranian government should go through a democratization plan, such as either limiting the power of the Prime Minister or abolishing the position entirely in favor of council rule.

PHASE 3

If the government can maintain stability in the region, a program of repopulation could take place in which any recruitment telegrams would be personalized to each recipient nation, and not given by the region, but by individual members, as word of mouth advertising comes without the annoyance of being spammy.

If we can achieve these goals, I can see Lorania having a partial recovery within the span of a few weeks to a month.
However, if the worst comes to pass, hope is not yet lost, and should the government apparatus completely fall apart, someone should seize the reigns of power and rule as a benevolent despot until our prized democracy can be restored.

Remember my friends, Lorania is not yet lost!

That would just deteriorate the state of the region even further, forcing those who stay to leave anyway.
