Thanks for the endorsement by the way CMC!

Cutie mark crusader

You're welcome! ^_^

The thestral directorate

To be honest, I'm not really sure what the endorsements are for, since I never used them myself.

Cutie mark crusader

When you said Hi, I clicked on your nation and saw it there. I think it is a way to show support :)

Cutie mark crusader

Also on the top it says endorse helps protect the region!

Mahknovichiya 2 tachanka bugaloo

I think you're supposed to endorse the current leaders of the region. Doing so ensures that it's harder for someone to swing in with some apts and take the region over in a hostile take over because they'll need just that many friends or alts to steal the region

via Pony Lands

The Principality of Trotterdam

Also, you need at least two endorsements to submit a resolution proposal to the WA, and the region's delegate's vote on proposals is strengthened according to the number of endorsements the delegate has.

What happened in the region yesterday? It looks like a lot of people left the region?

1 day 15 hours ago: The Empire of Narwhals Are Unicorns departed this region for The East Pacific.

At least we're still over 100.

huh. didn't expect to see that today

Mahknovichiya 2 tachanka bugaloo

We're they at all that active?

Then again, is anyone here?

The thestral directorate

Probably not. Some of them are just people who are region-hopping.

Karditan

It was probably one person moving a puppet army, considering they all went to the same region within an hour of each other.

I wonder the usefulness of this thing.

I'm before the Pacific begins to suspect us of a coup attempt

I urge the region to vote against WA resolution Repeal: “Commend The Red Fleet”. I have read the text in detail, and while I am unfamiliar with all of the history of the events detailed and the "who did what when" the resolution seems to get into, the type of text I am more than familiar with. We've seen it on the internet for years, and we see it in national politics now in America. Anti-fascist is something that everyone should be and opposing it is a good north star. Painting opposition to antifa type activites based on a political simulator like NS does not make sense to me.

The Security Council has kind of a weird disconnect between policy and what players call "gameplay." The anti-fascist part is at best in-character icing on the cake of their gameplay achievements, that being the raiding and defending of regions. So when doubts are cast on the veracity of those achievements it puts a serious damper on the bid; the anti-fascist tint has very little to do with it.

As someone who primarily spends their time doing roleplay on NS rather than gameplay, this still feels weird to explain even after a few years of "getting" it. But that's how it works for now, for better or for worse. Though the recent spate of NS Sports commendations shows they're willing to put more stock in roleplay than in the past.

Thank you for giving me some context, I am pretty new and there is a lot of history here that I don't know.

But I can't help but think that the text of this repeal is based is based on petty grievances and technicalities to justify an anti-left wing stances. For example, in the original proposal says

"participating in the June 2014 destruction of NAZI EUROPE, an aggressive region that had previously been condemned by this august institution"

and the repeal says "The destruction of Nazi Europe was coordinated by Evil Wolf, the North Pacific Army, Lone Wolves United, and the United Imperial Armed Forces. While their commendation redirects credit to the Red Fleet, the Red Fleet didn't move in until the region had already been captured and secured, making them only a footnote in the operation"

Am I crazy, or does the justification for the repeal try to make it seem like The Red Fleet was given full credit for this operation, but in the text it just says that they participated in it. So for the one example I can kind of verify with text, makes me feel like this was a fake "got ya"

Isn't it enough to be consistently against Nazi's and fascists to be commended? I think so, that is why I am against this repeal.

Essentially what it's saying is that the Red Fleet claimed they did more than they actually did, and used the commendation as a way to try and cement their lie in the public consciousness. (This is also where the self-commendation thing comes into play, which is just a general breach of etiquette.)

Commendable in the colloquial sense of the word, sure. But a "commendation" is a very specific thing on NS; it's not just a general "hey, you're doing good." It's more a Most Valuable Player award. It's saying the user or the region did something exceptional within NS that deserves recognition. This is where I have to reiterate that it really isn't anti-left wing in any way; it's simply a matter of "this commendation was written in bad faith by a jerk, and we don't want that to stand."

Thank you for taking the time to explain, maybe the world assembly is a bit more about the technical details than I thought. I went on the forum and it seemed to be mostly people echoing points you are, so I will admit maybe I am out of my element. But I am glad I tried :) Had a CMC goes to Washington moment lol!

Thanks for taking the time to listen! I try and help out newer players when I can, because there can definitely be speed bumps to understanding how everything on this site works. But if you stick around there's a ton of fun to be had! Hell, I'm approaching a decade of hanging around here.
