After a call, a talk, and a bit of a walk, the medical staff brings Mitra in, a familiar face at least.
He gives her a shy smile, "Hey, not doing so good hm?"

She shrugged.

Erich Joörgentk was sitting across from the Scrap Rat. Nobody knew him as such in New Franco as he went by the name Mathias Vildekeijn. The deal as explained to him was to say the very least, concerning. The presence of that much Astral Adamantium in Roxian hands raised concerns of what the material could be used for aside from killing Iblion. Thinking on his feet and considering what his superior would consider wise judgment, he gave thought to what he needed to do. After a moment of hesitation, he sighed and asked a very complicated question.

"Could you get me into the site where they're cutting the Astral Adamantium?" He asked the Scrap Rat. "I'll pay you whatever you think it'll take to get me in there without getting caught. If you want, I'll even give you a six-pack of acholohol of your choosing." Clearly, he was trying to sweeten the deal.

He shifted, scratching his beard.
"I can sneak you onto one of the scrapping teams tomorrow...just be careful; the Cicada groups got it locked down as well, they may sniff you out."

Erich shrugged.
"I can manage."

The Scrap Rat nodded.
"Yeah i suppose so..."

** *** **

A few other collaborators in the scrapping team joined in with this collaboration. Boarding a makeshift vehicle, they drove with various other materials and tools to the site of the obelisk.

The Cicadia had it under firm guard, with several dozen teams patroling the area.

However what was most impressive was the collossal...robotic entity standing tall above the obelisk with a large cutter of sorts. This must be the CEVA.

Climbing the rigging to the top of the obelisk, they attempted to continue the slow and arduous process of cutting the obelisk apart.

As Erich, who was now dressed up like a scrapper, looked over at the CEVA, it could see it's body language was that of sorrow. It was not happy, and seemingly just going with the flow. Perhaps it's prior statements about accepting it's place were false, and merely there to comply with the Cicadia.

His eyes couldnt linger, however; he was told by the Scrap Rat (a man named Sue...don't ask) that even looking at the CEVA would elicit a negative response from the Cicadia as they believed such actions signified a wish to scrap it and deconstruct it for parts.

CK pondered for a few moments before speaking in Pogashanese, seemingly conversing with an unseen entity. After a few more moments, CK looks at Miranda and says "How does a few hundred billion in what ever your currency is sound? Should be more than enough to cover the costs of keeping New Francisco running. We'll also let you keep 60% of the Obelisk. The 40% we're taking should be more than enough for what we're using it for."

Oaterian Ship

By now, cloaked Cicada agents have reached the man's location undetected.

Solar system Falgon-Theta 9

In the minutes before the third Gun could get close to the second Gun, a Macross-class battle destroyer opened fire with its main weapon: An arcane-flux wave cannon. From a distance of half a million kilometers, the battle destroyer fires upon the third Gun, resulting in its premature detonation. While it was far enough away to not destroy the second Gun, it was still close enough to inflict severe damage to it. Now knowing that there is an unknown number of Guns, or as the Roxium Federation calls them, Desujuhoshi, they begin a sweep through what has been identified as former Zoninite space, with the goal of destroying all the Guns save for the two Cicada has captured.

Azulakas

They get no reply from the Roxium Federation.

From what Azulakas observed over the night, a small fleet of alien ships identical to the crashed "Autonomous Battle Ark" appeared in Azulakas's orbital space before leaving said orbital space 30 or so minutes later. Some time later, the shockwave from what was most likely the single biggest "man-made" non-nuclear explosion in Augusta's history swept through along with an EMP that wreaked havoc on Azulakas's electrical grid, the shockwave originating from somewhere on the Roxium/Monsone border. Some time after the shockwave came through, more of those alien ships entered Azulakas's orbital space, heading in the direction of Tyramon. It is during this time that the "Autonomous Battle Ark" Azulakas found was shot down. The remaining ships would eventually leave.

During all that, no ships of Roxium design were seen anywhere in or near Azulakas's orbital space. Ironically the assumption of Roxium involvement is correct. All those events during the night were a top secret Cicada operation that had gone awry, Cicada being what is essentially the Roxium version of the CIA that also does covert/black ops.

Further exploration of the fallen ship/beast thing would reveal mentions of a nation called Navarre and an organization called NERV.

Hours after the message was sent, a not-insignificant amount of money mysteriously appears in Azulakas's bank.

HAA Longinus

"AENU-A Unit GH-77-G81 has been lost." says someone in the HAA Longinus's bridge.

Not long afterwards... "Unknown signature detected!"

"Running analysis!"

"Analysis complete. Signature pattern is... wait, how is that possible?"

Technicians and commanders stare at the main screen in confusion.

"Signature pattern is both blue and undefined! Phase patterns are rapidly fluctuating between positive and negative infinity!"

"Unidentified object is now on visuals."

The human appears on the main screen. As it approaches, a commander says "Is that a human?" "We're not sure... While it has the outward appearance of a human, it's putting out energies that we have yet to identify. It's also safe to assume it's not a celestial." replies Risato.

"Object is approaching the Longinus! ETA to contact is 5 minutes!" says a technician. "Go to alert level 1 and transition the Longinus to battle configuration, but don't open fire." says Inaki.

"All personnel report to your assigned combat posts! I repeat, all personnel report to your assigned combat posts! This is not a drill! The Longinus is about to transition to battle configuration!"

Various alarms go off throughout the Longinus before sections of its outer armor begin moving. Armor plates start covering up the forward bridge while the front of the two spaceship-like objects attached to its wings open up, revealing clusters of N2 missile launchers and two Type-5 S2 ADAM weapons. Inside, Inaki, Risato, and a few others relocate to what is known as the battle bridge. Moments after they take their seats on a large movable structure, Inaki says "Begin synchronization procedure." "Roger." says a female voice.

"Moving multi-user pilot console into the control cavity."

The structure, called the multi-user pilot console, rises up, and continues upward into the control cavity.

"Locking multi-user pilot into position and sealing the control cavity."

The multi-user pilot console is locked in place as a blast door below it closes.

"Control cavity sealed. Now pressurizing."

The control cavity fills with LCL Gas.

"Pressurization complete. Now synchronizing."

Inaki watches as various patterns appear on the control cavity's walls for a few seconds.

"Synchronization of the Battle Bridge to the Longinus is complete. All systems are operating within specified tolerances."

The patterns vanish and are replaced by a real-time panoramic view of what the Longinus's 4 eyes can see.

As if responding to Inaki's will, the Longinus lets loose an ethereal whale-like sound as angelic haloes appear above and below it. A strange "shimmering" is seen around the Longinus as its AT field deploys.

The now-awakened Longinus can be seen from Scrap Rat territory and the rest of New Francisco as a small glowing white circle in the sky. CEVA-00 Mark Iα can sense the Longinus's awakening.

"HAA Longinus is now in battle configuration."

The Republic weathers the shockwaves emanating from the mainland shenanigans as it usually does, perhaps faring better due to the separation of technological evolution between the island nation and mainland. Either way, both the national and local governments admit, more so privately than publicly, that a storm is forming, if not already approaching the nation.

A message is sent from the capital to the fleet of Coast Guard Ships patrolling the site of the downed Autonomous Battle Ark with orders to extract what could potentially be reverse-engineered and used to strengthen the Republic’s defenses.

The sudden influx of money into the nation catches the eye of the treasurer who, being suspicious of the financial origins, has the value mysteriously added isolated from the rest of the Azulakassian treasury, reporting the occurrence to President Ierna.

HAA Longinus

"I personally find it hard to breathe a substance that is a liquid at room temperature as a gas. But who am I to speak when I don't even need to breathe?" Asked an eerily familiar voice as Inaki turned around and found himself staring down Erich, the countryball who had previously vanquished Iblion with seemingly minimal effort.

Before Inaki could interject or even begin to curse in his native tongue, Erich began to speak again, making a point of not letting anybody else speak. It wasn't so much rude as it was a bit strange.

"Don't act like this is a complete surprise. I'm not going to let you leave without a gift. It would be rude and dishonorable for me not to present you with some sort of token of 'gratitude.'" Said Erich. "Of course, when you are so ready to refuse a gift, it begs questions of character. That is why I came here; to ensure my gift arrived in one piece. I would be deeply saddened if you went so far as to reject my gift, after all, I did put a fair amount of effort into it. And, it is rude to say 'no' when you're offered a gift."

Inaki stammered to say something, but Erich simply silenced him with the wink of an eye before speaking again.

"Surely you're wondering what I'm gifting you. I certainly would understand a degree of trepidation in said area, but rest assured that this gift isn't a weapon insofar as it is sentient and thus can choose whether to become a weapon. See, I took one of your useless ANEU-As which cannot for the life of themselves kill Iblion, and turned it into something immensely useful. The human floating out there is capable of piloting a CEVA and lacks the powers Celestials have, ensuring that they cannot be used as a universe-ending weapon at least in a direct sense. And, that human even has a name: Sara."

"Of course, this isn't a gift without its caveats. I'll gladly give you Sarah if you agree to stop pursuing Spencer. If you refuse this offer, not will I make Sara into an apprentice of mine, I'll give the sole CEVA you have left the think it most desires. Surely, you don't want that to happen; all your work gone in an instant because of your ego and paranoia. So what do you say Inaki? Do you want to accept this gift, or are you going to be rude and incur the repercussions of said actions?"

Suddenly, Inaki felt as if he were able to speak coherently again. Almost as if bonds had been lifted off his mind, allowing it to think freely once more.

New Franco

Erich watched as the obelisk was cut and occasionally glanced over at the CEVA. On the one hand, he couldn't help pity it, on the other, he was deeply concerned by the oppressive presence of Cicada officials. There would be no way to take photos, even with the hidden camera concealed in a rusty screwdriver. Making a call even to the Monsonian Embassy would be an incredibly risky and potentially lethal act. All the Cicada personnel were hovering over the site like flies hovering over their dinner; there was nowhere where one could hide from their gaze. Walking away was also not an option simply on the basis that a Cicada agent would likely interrogate him.

He consigned himself to work. Slowly chipping away at the obelisk, he took a blade-sized harp piece that had fallen off and placed it into a leather fanny pack after making sure there was absolutely nobody looking at him. Then, he returned to chipping and cutting the obelisk in what seemed like a futile attempt to slice a material that did not want to budge. It reminded him of the uranium mine his mother and father had worked in. They always said the pitchblende was incredibly tough and even the large crushing machines had trouble with some very large clumps of hard rock which were tossed aside into huge piles.

As the day ended, Erich exhaustedly climbed down from the obelisk and converged with the Scrap Rats who had accompanied him in. In roughly an hour's time, he was going to pay them their fair shares. For now, the only difficult part would be getting past the guards on the way out. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a dark blue car with tinted windows park across the street from the workspace where the obelisk was being cut. A black car meant the SIM; a blue car meant the IM. Why on earth where they in New Franco?

As the Country-Ball said this, CEVA-00 Mk1a noticed it.

** ** **

As Erich spent the entire day chipping away and only getting that singular blade piece carved off, he noticed the CEVA pause and slowly turn towards the sky. So too did the Cicadia.

It's form, with obvious draconic features, paused and tilted it's head, then it shuddered briefly.

This was of little concern, as the Scrap Rats insisted on getting paid as quickly as possible. Furthermore, most (if not, all) the Scrap Rats were armed and armed to the teeth, with a combinationof weapons scavenged from all over Augusta and possibly even their black markets.

As for the haul of Astral Adamantium laced rock...there was only several shards; the material was tougher than he could ever think, and certainly would have destroyed most conventional mining equipment used by the Monsonians.

*** *** ***

Erich, the countryball, sensed a presence brush against his, or rather their, minds. Likewise it echoed within the mind of Inaki

"My goodness! a mind sourced from a collective whole! how intriguing."

A pause as the presence washed over Sarah eagerly, and since she did not remove herself from Monsone-ball she sensed her emotions; Excitement at finally having someone, at finally-

-it was instantly cut short and replaced with shock, frustration, anger, then muted sorrow and feelings of hollowness and emptiness. Dejection, self hatred, confusion and bitterness.

"She has no Celestial Blood within her..." came the defeated reply, "Her mind is water, mine like oil, they can interact but cannot merge."

Silence, for several long moments.

"I..."

her sorrow intensified, and Inaki and Monsone-ball sensed tears welling in their eyes, although they bore no sadness in their hearts. A feeling of hopelessness washed over them as CEVA-00 Mk1a spiralled downwards.

"Whats the point of going on if i'm useless...you should have destroyed me then, i'm just dead weight."

*** *** ***

Erich felt the ground shudder, so too did the Cicada agents.

As they all looked to the obelisk, they saw the CEVA slowly curled up against the obelisk, her head burried into her knees.

She shifted.
"They'll just be told the same thing; the government will weave some tale about how i'm causing danger to the society, and next thing you know i'm shipped off to a work camp or something."

"Don't say that-"

"What else do i say? that everything will be fine? that it's all good? that everything will be fine in the end?" Sarah asked, "it's all falling apart, i just..."

Mitra frowned as Sarah trailed off.

Kira smiles. "This is perfect. I mean, really, really perfect."
