The Republic of Sparanoda

Aerlanica wrote:“Sir,” said the signal operator, “we have contact from the NAP troops in Raynesville.”
The leader of the IGA Olympus motioned for the operator to patch him through.
The garbled voice of an old transmitter came through.
“To whom it may concern; I am Emperor Vance, new leader of the Empire of Raynesville and ruler of all of Aerlanica. I have noticed your spacecraft hovering above our land, and would like to inform you that for every minute that you remain above us, I will execute ten people. Men, women, children, I’ll try to fill all the demographics, right now you are at twelve minutes so that is one hundred and twenty people. Please, stay longer, I like it when they scream.”
The transmission abruptly ends.

(OOC: approx. how many civilians are there in Raynesville?)

"Huh," the commanding General says, "alright, then, move the station so that it is just on the Aerlanican side of the Raynesville-Aerlanica border, where that divide was."

The Empire of Tyramon

Aerlanica wrote:The colonel gave Eveline a strange look before a wave of realisation crossed his face.
“Oh, right the whole…yeah,” he looked between her and the wolf, “this is…” he walked up to the wolf and inspected its collar, “…this is Corporal Ridge, he’s a messenger for our army; we use them when our radios are shot out.”
“Like, a situation like this.”
He gave the canister back to the wolf, and he bounded off.
“Frost Wolves are technically as intelligent as the average human, just they can’t speak because of their vocal cords.” Francis said, finalising with a shrug.

******

The Aerlanican troops arranged themselves along the line preparing to push. Their movements were covered by the storm which seemed to be slowly subsiding. Once in place they began the assault, concentrating fire on NAP positions that were the weakest and encircling strong points. They broke through the front line and continued to push through the NAP territory before they stagnated a few kilometres from the outskirts of the suburbs.

******

Vara herself met significant resistance, as the NAP also manages to slow her advance no more that five hundred meters from the FOA forces still trapped inside the city before her troops find significant resistance.

******

Approaching the city from the same direction Vara advanced, the Aerlanican Reinforcements arrived. Taking up the rear, they attacked on a slightly wider front, putting even more pressure on the NAP and shattering the defences with the armoured division of K-2C MBTs; a tank designed to be versatile, and be able to fight in both wide open spaces and in urban warfare. The main leader, a tanker by the name of Erwin Patton, and by the rank of Captain, used his tanks to manoeuvre around the pocket, encircling the NAP in the south west, south and south eastern sectors of the city, accidentally and inadvertently encircling Vara and her forces. With no knowledge of who is inside the pocket, he opts to widen the corridors and allowing logistic trucks to flood the defenders with food and ammunition, lest the corridors be closed again.

Eveline is still clearly confused by the "Frost Wolves", but she shrugs it off. "If it works..."

******

The Tyramonian army finally reaches the Green Manor defensive line. The army joins with the defenders, bolstering their forces to the point that a major offense is possible, especially since Aerlanican reinforcements are also there. Empress Vara goes in search of Jonathan and eventually finds him, recognizing him from Vangs' description of him. She walks up to meet him.

"Prime Minister Blinds, I am Empress Vara of Tyramon, I have been looking forward to meeting you." She offers her hand to shake.

Solar System Jigen-Lambda 85a-b

Radika forces have carved a narrow path of destruction through Roxium Federation Galactic Districts Vulperia and Gyona. In the binary solar system Jigen-Lambda 85a-b, a particularly brutal battle between Radika and Galactic Union forces is underway. At the moment no Lawithon colonies are under threat of Radika attack. By this point Rathoria, Sparanoda, WonGya, Azulakas, and Monsone have been notified about the Radika threat and the potentially apocalyptic damage they're capable of inflicting.

Both Aerlanica and Raynesville

Sparanoda, Aerlanica, and Revolyutsiya troops have probably noticed that some NAP troops are behaving... oddly, almost as if they're no longer in control of their bodies. Behind the scenes, the DDR ever so slowly "corrupts" the NAP from within, turning parts of it against eachother. More and more NAP leaders are hearing strange whispers with no discernible source. It is very likely that 1 or 2 of the weak-willed ones have either given in to the whispers or gone insane.

Lawithon after realizing that someone colonies will be largely undefendable and to be frank not worth defending have evacuated the farthest colonial worlds. The forces diverted from these colonies have gone to either renforce the other more vital colonies or to aiding the Roxium forces in the hopes to halt the Radika before they reach the mid rim.

As she and her contingent approaches the FOA forces, her perceived meeting goes…a little differently. Her troops are stopped and halted. Jonathan stood atop the rubble parapet with tired eyes and a look of slight annoyance. However, that could have just been the Morphine. By this time, the storm had largely subsided and had been replaced by a slight drizzle. He was visibly wounded; his left shoulder appeared to be out of commission and his left arm was in a sling, a bandage covered his mid section and he was littered with bruises and scrapes.
"Prime Minister Blinds, I am Empress Vara of Tyramon, I have been looking forward to meeting you." She offered her hand to shake.
Jonathan did not leave the parapet.
“Good day Empress Vara,” he called, “I believe it was just yesterday that I requested to see you in person.”
He extended his functional arm and gestured to the surroundings and to the troops with Vara.
“However, not only did I not expect to see you so soon,” he continued, “I did not anticipate meeting under such a…violent…situation.”
He looked back at her.
“However, I expect that you yourself are no stranger to violent situations being…well…Tyramonian.
“Other than that, welcome to Aerlanica.” A nearby wall collapsed. “She’s a bit of a fixer-upper but she has sentimental value.”
It was at this time the rumble of armoured vehicles were heard as several tanks, along with infantry, emerged from the streets, surrounding Vara and what troops she had left.
“Normally,” Jonathan continued, walking lengthways across the makeshift parapet, “when someone marches troops into my territory unannounced, I generally send an ultimatum before telling them to shove off, however-“ he pointed to a sprawled out corpse of an NAP lieutenant, “-sometimes we tell them to shove off with bullets, specifically bullets of the .308 variety.
“Furthermore,” he continued, “My sources state that the NAP was hiding within your nation, either you let them remain there without my knowledge or are unperceptive, the latter I believe to be very unlikely, forcing me to assume you allowed them asylum.”
He stared her down, his expression surprisingly, and frighteningly, calm.
“Such actions against our country, and in collaboration with an enemy of the Federation,” Jonathan explained, “will get you a one way ticket to a body bag, or at least a room in Frost-peak, under normal circumstances.”
Several of the Tyramonians raised their rifles in anticipation, Vara herself readied her weapon; she was not expecting this.
“However,” Jonathan said, continuing his speech, “and trust me when I say that this is a big however; these are not normal circumstances; adversity has and will make strange bedfellows time and time again, and we are such bedfellows in this moment. Trying times like these are no time to conduct most things “normally” so to speak and to kill each other is to simply let those NAP bastards win.”
He waved a hand, and the FOA soldiers slowly lowered their weapons, and the tanks retreated slightly. However there were still looks of suspicion on the Aerlanican’s faces; they were still very much alert.
“Therefore, I am willing to overlook your uninvited visit with half your military arsenal…that was a hyperbole by the way…and would quite like to invite you into the Green Manor-“ as he gestured back to the building, he finally noticed that it was heavily damaged, “-or, at least, what is left of the Green Manor, for a nice chat over a cup of tea.”
He turned back to Vara.
“Or, well, you could always walk home, that is also a viable option,” Jonathan said, “but I am almost certain that we will be having tea with the surviving members of government, the princess and an especially violent mailman inside the House of Representatives; a place where food and drink is not allowed.”
Jonathan turned and began to walk back to the Manor.
“You can come break the law or leave and chicken out, up to you.” He called. “But for one thing, I’m getting out of this blasted rain.”
The soldiers slowly pealed back, with several following Jonathan. The way was clear for Vara to both leave Aerlanica, or take up the wounded Prime Minister’s offer.

Eveline is relieved by another general as the NAP lines begin to crumple. She is moved back to the Green Manor, in anticipation of Empress Vara’s visit. She is accompanied by a Frost Wolf, who’s barks, growls and grunts seem to have a strange pattern to them…like a language.

"Huh," the commanding General says, "alright, then, move the station so that it is just on the Aerlanican side of the Raynesville-Aerlanica border, where that divide was."

In the Raynesville area that the NAP captured, there are about 37 million people (it is quite a large area). However it is unsure how many of them are collaborators.

The Sparanodians saw, through a long range telescope, as the NAP dragged out one hundred and twenty people and, with guns, shot them. The shots were not lethal, and the NAP soldiers guarded them as they writhed in pain to the anguish of many onlookers. Amidst the crowd they saw the self declared Emperor of Raynesville, laughing.

It appears that Emperor Vance is a man of his word.

Within a few minutes demons take up the guise of the house's former inhabitants, destroy the dead bodies, and hide the portal so that if the NAP does a surprise inspection, they would find nothing out of the ordinary. At the same time, a few more NAP personnel get possessed and have their souls thrown into the Twisting Nether while some of the more weak-willed NAP leaders start hearing strange whispers. The DDR's new plans are now in motion and the NAP, willingly or not, are slowly becoming pawns in said plans...

(Out of RP: Aerlanica still hasn't benefited entirely from Lawithon terraforming and the farm house would most likely be abandoned. meaning that the NAP would not do any surprise checks; they are able to marshal (to some degree) in secret.)

General Vance sees his generals acting strangely and grins.
Finally, solid justification to remove the climbers.
He indiscernibly begins a purge of the ranks, removing many individuals that pose a real of imagined threat to him. Most of the insane leaders are killed with only a few remaining. His justification; strong communist links and intention to undermine the "crusade" to liberate Aerlanica from the "Communist Dogs."

Still, the demonic plot has gone unnoticed.

Bi-weekly world building update, combined with an RP reply.

The orbital station is now complete, with all systems up and running. Two LRD-7 coilguns are situated on opposite ends of the station with extra armor plating surrounding their capacitors and protecting the station from retaliatory fire. The launch bay contains four Halberd-class interceptors and several small shuttles, all ready for deployment. The active roster includes 27 various technicians, 4 junior officers, 1 commanding officer, 10 pilots, 12 marines, and 20 other enlisted Naval personnel.

On the ground, the advanced space elevator project has all but been abandoned at this time. Although its completion would result in the ability to build a shipyard, the imminent Radika threat has brought the more pressing matters of planetary defense to the forefront of governmental focus. At least 60% of Rathorian factories have diverted from their normal production to focus on the construction of military hardware. Based on current estimates, there will be another station in orbit devoted to defense purposes, armed with 4 additional LRD-7s by the time the Radika arrive (if they do come here). A secret project has also been unveiled and is nearing completion: the Transient Dawn's light railgun has been resembled to create a rudimentary surface-to-space weapon platform, capable of launching an extremely dense 800 ton slug at 35,000 meters per second*.

While the new defensive systems should hold most capital ships back, numerous members of the military and civilian government have pointed out that Rathoria would be weak against a dedicated ground invasion, whether it be from an extraterrestrial source or someone closer to home. In light of this, it has been decided that some money be invested in an army. More information will appear in the coming weeks.

*Technically, the Dawn's railgun should be capable of 60,000 m/s, but the new system is weaker and has to factor in atmospheric and gravitational interference.

Three flights of Rathorian Hellfires show up just as Vance executes the civilians. The pilots are enraged, but realize they can do nothing for the moment after getting a sitrep from the IGA Olympus. Instead, they set down in the desert (I'm just assuming desert based on the regional map, but correct me if the area is something else) and set up a temporary command post.

‘Well, this is…incredibly awkward.” Jonathan said.
He looked between the two.
“Well we can discuss things in the House of Representatives,” Jonathan declared, trying to interrupt the silence, “where I, for that matter, will be having tea.”
Jonathan half stumbled, half limped away.
Vara looked after him, and was wondering whether or not he was still under the influence of pain killers.

“Well, this is certainly a mess.” Genevieve said, her voice muffled slightly by the gas mask, as she looked at the shattered cityscape around them.
It was almost getting boring, and the Aerlanicans were certainly fed up with the fact nearly every month somebody or something came to their nation and screwed with everything. It was becoming a monthly tradition to clear rubble from their streets, remove dead corpses from their living rooms, and boarding up shattered windows.
It was certainly a very efficient form of persuading the procrastinating spouse to renovate the living room, or entice the lazy roommate to finally clean the house.
However, it gets extremely monotonous and annoying to sweep spent bullet casings from the room and having to purchase plaster to cover over the bullet holes. And it is certainly bad for both the mind and the spirit to constantly organise funerals and memorial services; so much death eventually will overwhelm someones mind, even if that mind is Aerlanican.
“Well, like always, blame the fascist scumbags.” Carter said, his own gas mask slightly distorting his voice, as he lifted a few shattered bricks and threw them into a rapidly rising pile of debris. “One of these days, when they’re gone, we can finally settle down and relax; I’ll build us a little house in Alderburg and we can set up a…maybe a small farm or something, once we terraform the place of course.”
“Here’s hoping.” Genevieve replied, resuming the work.
Several Revolyutsiyans walked past, carrying several stretchers of wounded soldiers before they loaded them into a Sparanodian T.I.R.. Afterwards, the vehicle sputtered to life and moved its way down the road towards one of the many overcrowded first aid stations. Past them walked a column of surrendering NAP troops, guarded by the Lawithonians and Aerlanicans. Waste-rangers watched the clearing skies as the Rathorian Hellfire fighters screamed above them.
The casualty count was reaching a few million: mostly civilians caught in the crossfire. The heart of Aerlanica was attacked and, almost most the time, it survived, but was scared. There was already talks of monuments, statues and plaques to be made commemorating the various defenders of the city.
There was also a heavy debate whether or not the battle constituted as a last stand, with many prominent officials, including Jonathan Blinds, arguing against it pointing to the colossal influx of troops and reinforcements to relieve the defenders. Many people, including Carter himself, thought it was Jonathan being modest.
The rubble was eventually cleared from the intersection they were at and they bid farewell to the civilians who helped them, resuming their patrol.
“Why is it,” Genevieve said, “that the NAP can’t seem to get the message; we don’t want their sorry asses in our country.”
“Well, it’s probably because of a cult of personality.” Carter suggested. “They probably deified Arnold, and see it as his will to take Aerlanica in his name. General Vance is probably reflecting himself as some sort of…disciple or something.”
“Propaganda?” Genevieve suggested.
“Propaganda.” Carter agreed with a nod.
They wandered the streets of the city, walking past the tired faces of many Aerlanicans as they shuffled and stumbled their way through the warton city. Occasionally conversations were heard; some of them were filled with macabre, dry or dark humour, others were questions and inquiries into the whereabouts of citizens, the general hubbub was directions; directing troops to certain areas, directing civilians to aid stations and so on. The atmosphere was dull, the ground wet and in some places muddy, and the sky above a grey ceiling of rolling clouds.
While they walked through the city, something caught Genevieve’s eye. She nudged Carter.
“Look.” she whispered, gesturing down a nearby alley.
Sitting in a ragged dress, barefooted, was a young girl, no more than six or seven. Her knees, hands and feet were covered in cuts and abrasions and her face was hidden by a large, tangled mop of midnight hair reaching her back.
“What do we do?” Carter asked, unsure of how to approach the situation.
Genevieve looked at Carter, and he saw through the lenses of her masks her roll her eyes. He gave a confused shrug.
Genevieve approached the girl tentatively.
“Hey, are you lost?”
The girl was startled by the Waste-Ranger, and she scurried back a few feet, her blue eyes staring in fright at Genevieve.
“Hey, hey, it’s ok, we’re friendly.” Genevieve said, throwing back her hood and removing her gas mask, revealing her slightly scarred face. She turned back to Carter. “Isn’t that right?”
“Yeah,” he said, following suit, “We’re the good guys.”
She still looked frightened. Carter crouched down to get closer on eye level with the girl.
“Hey, my name’s Carter, what’s yours?” He asked, a hand slowly extending towards her.
She glanced at the hand, and then at the Waste-Ranger.
“Ella,” She said, “Ella Andrews.”
“Well, thats a nice name,” Carter said, “Do you know where your parents are?”
She shook her head.
“Are they two men? Or two women? Or-“
“Man and a woman.”
Carter nodded.
“Well, how about we go find them yeah?” Carter said, standing up. “Want a lift?”
She looked around briefly before she stood to her feat, holding out her arms for Carter to lift her up and carry her. He obliged.
The three of them began walking through the city. With Carter and Genevieve calling out for “Mr and Mrs Andrew.”

Twisting Nether

The Twisting Nether is a realm of chaotic energies. On the fel-scarred remnants of a once-beautiful Earth-like world the waste-ranger, now without a body, comes face-to-face with nightmarish creatures that have just abducted him. "Ah, another soul for the forge." says one of the creatures in a deep, menacing voice. "Take him to the Pit!" The waste-ranger is unable to fight back or escape as the creatures drag him away. All around him are hundreds, if not thousands of these monstrous beings that look like they're from a fantasy game. Above him is a very alien-looking sky. Stars forming unfamiliar constellations can be seen along-side shattered remnants of other planets and moons. Twisting and weaving about the sky are bands of ethereal green energy. The general environment around him is not unlike that of Aerlanica: a grey wasteland. Unlike Aerlanica, this new wasteland features volcanoes spewing out green lava. Ahead of him is a large ominous tower adorned with demonic spikes.
The waste-ranger would soon find out what the Pit is: a prison. The creatures toss him into a cell and lock the door. Through the bars of the door other prisoners can be seen, prisoners that look a lot like NAP members. The waste-ranger's soul has been tossed into the same prison the DDR is keeping NAP souls in, and his real body is now under the control of a demon. Looks like the NAP is no longer the DDR's only target...

The triage of Tyramonians walked into the House of Representatives, an amphitheatre like room. Silent (and slightly moist) chairs sat in a circle around a central table. Puddles from the rain that fell through a hole in the roof were scattered about and a colourful collection of individuals sat huddled around a small, makeshift fire where a large steel teapot was being heated up. A drizzle of rain fell through a large hole in the roof, as well as through a few shattered windows. Several groups of soldiers talked silently in scattered corners.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Jonathan declared, "We are here to drink tea, drink more tea and drink nothing but tea.”
Jonathan walked and sat down in a nearby chair before gesturing to the Tyramonians.
“Here we have my deputy prime minister, Madylin Jones.”
A lithe woman, with short brown hair and hazel eyes, gave a wave to the Tyramonians.
“Hello.”
“Chloe Robin, Minister of Foreign Affairs.”
A short, red haired woman no older than twenty eight gave a meek wave.
“Andrew Montgomery, and his two wives; Renee and Felicity.”
A man of forty with a salt and pepper beard gave a wave, and so did two similarly aged women.
“The…mailman?”
A grizzled, stormy faced man in blood-soaked clothes, shotgun in hand, gave a look of acknowledgement with fierce and stern eyes to the Tyramonians. A single grunt of approval was heard before he stared into the flames, the fire reflecting off of his eyes.
“General Gregory Rosevale.”
A general, of similar age to Jonathan with a bandage over one eye, gave a wave.
“William Tyler, the opposition minister.”
A blond haired man slightly older than Jonathan gave a wave.
“So, what do we wish to talk about.”

“Can you get me C.O.U.R.I.E.R. high command.”
“Reason.”
“Yeah, I think a portal just opened about…five hundred meters away or something.”
“Describe it.”
“Yeah…its like…like…like um…like a green…greenish colour or something.”
“How big is it.”
“Well…I mean…I can see it from here…and…it’s…like the size of like a small tree or something…it’s not like small or anything but it’s pretty big…like I could go through it.”
“Ok, we’ll patch you through, please hold.”
The Waste-Ranger settled down and waited. Terrible music filled his ears as he held open the line. A few minutes passed before:
“This is the Central Organisation of Universal Reconnaissance, Intelligence and Extraterrestrial Research, this is Jacky speaking.” Said a female voice.
“Hey, this is Corporal Vincent, there’s, like, a portal that just opened up.”
“Ok, and can you describe this portal.” Jacky asked.
“Yeah, it’s like…it’s pretty big, it’s green and it looks real shimmery.”
“Ok, we’re sending over a team to investigate the portal, please hang tight, we’re triangulating your position now.”

How in the hell (no pun intended) was he going to get out of here.

The Empire of Tyramon

Aerlanica wrote:The triage of Tyramonians walked into the House of Representatives, an amphitheatre like room.

"Well," Vara began, "I would like to respond to the accusation that I was providing the NAP with sanctuary. I was not. The late Royal Emperor Impalus decided to allow for the NAP to set up a base in Tyramon in response to Aerlanica assisting Tyramonian rebels - an eye for an eye, in a way. When I came to power, I was initially busied with pulling together a nation after a civil war. After that, I eventually was informed about the NAP in the mountains. I ordered that surveillance be set up in preparation for a tactical strike. If performed properly, I hoped to catch all the remnants of the NAP in one swift stroke. However, it took time and planning to launch the strike - and, unfortunately, we were a few hours too late. The strike occurred around the same time as the NAP started attacking Aerlanica City, so the captures were few. However, we did learn about their attack on Aerlanica City, and that the actual target was Raynesville. Immediately, we notified the September Signatories of the attack on both Aerlanica City and Raynesville - although we were not sure where Raynesville was or its importance - and launched our own force to come to your aid."
"So you see," Vara continued, "helping the NAP is not and never was my intention. It was an error of those that came before me, which I have been working to correct."

Jonathan Blinds raised an eyebrow, before his eyes grew slightly wider.
"Wait, hold on...Raynesville?"
He looked to Montgomery, who was equally concerned.
"If they targeted Raynesville, and if they overwhelmed the defenders, then that means that they have one of the most defensible locations in Aerlanica, and possibly, the world."
Chloe nervously drank her tea before shaking her head.
"If they have Raynesville, it's going to be hell to take it back." she said.
"It's a defenders dream," Rosevale said, his one good eye looking at everyone, "steep mountains and cliffs three kilometres high, concentrated Anti-Air from the civil war and a natural trench nearly a thousand meters deep; crossing it is nearly impossible."
"Not to mention the hit to our industry." William Tyler said. "Raynesville and the Rayne Valleys are home to nearly thirty percent of our greenhouses, as well as two major industrial centres; Raynesville and Helen's Town. They can hold out for as long as they need while our food begins to grow scarce."
"Food will not be a matter, we will simply have to import more while we set up more greenhouses or terraform the Golden Fields," Jonathan said, "my main concern is the people; thirty four million people, with nearly two percent of Roodem ethnicity." Jonathan shook his head. "They will be little more than Vance's playthings."
"What we need is to figure out a way we can secure the region with minimal damage and causalties," Madylin said, "We need to find a way across the divide and a way to hit them where it hurts."
"Easier said than done," Felicity Montgomery argued, pulling a coat closer around her, "My brother worked on the bridges that crossed the divide and he told me that to make the towers to suspend the bridges it took a while to dig the holes; breaking through that granite is tough."
"But not impossible Felicity," Renee argued, placing a hand affectionately on her wife's thigh, "with enough time or...or maybe some of the signatories equipment we could dig a sizeable hole."
"We'll have to wait till the rains subside though," Jonathan stated, "The bottom of the divide will be filled with debris and water."
"Don't matter," the mailman growled, his eyes staring into the flickering flames of the fire, watching the souls of the men he slayed dance and wither in the inferno of hell, "We'll kill every one of them, and slaughter them like the dogs they are."
A silence fell over the group as they looked towards the silent, foreboding form of the mailman. His eyes held a thousand years of fury, his hands were covered in the blood of one hundred men, and his shoulders were hunched; forced down by the weight of the souls he had taken.
"Are...are you alright, my good sir?" Jonathan asked cautiously.
"The NAP bayed for the blood of Aerlanicans," he replied, his voice leadened with malice, "I delivered them their blood, they did not expect it was theirs."
Jonathan gave a long, hard look at the mailman.
"Right, cool."
A few of the Aerlanicans looked at the Tyramonians expectantly, as if waiting for their input.

Aerlanica City, Federation of Aerlanica

The Revolyutsiyans are tired after the continuous fighting pushing the NAP back in the eastern sector of Aerlanica City over the past few days and hours. Ammunition, medical supplies, water and food are low resulting in the mountaineers scavenging off of the dead bodies of their comrades and the enemy alike. Most of the mountaineers are either wounded or exhausted from the constant combat but they can now rest knowing and prepare for their next course of action. Major O'Shea tries to boost moral amongst his struggling comrades as they further entrench themselves in the eastern sector. The mountaineers have been fortifying a park in the outskirts of the city in case of another NAP assault. With the trenches dug trenches and several of the surrounding structures around the park being boarded up and turned into a temporary field hospital, supply depot, and barracks for the Revolyutsiyans.

Longshanks and his squad of 10 comrades patrol around the Revolyutsiyan park "fort", which have been nicknamed "Mount Illyria" after the highest peak of the Eyre mountain range and where mountaineers hike to retrieve the white Edelweiss flower which is believed to be the true sign of a mountaineer.

A letter to the governing body of the Federation of Aerlanica,

This is a formal request to establish a small base of operations in the locations of Aerlanica City and Twilight's Hollow. These locations would serve to benefit the both of us as allies with the operational purpose of the base in Aerlanica City being a small forward operating base and diplomatic consulate as it seems as the 1st Eyre Mountain Regiment has already established temporary fortifications. The second location of Twilight's Hollow would be our formal embassy that would to the betterment of our two republics. It is our hopes that this proposal is approved and it has come to our knowledge that economic relief legislation is in debate in the Peoples House of Representatives and we will update your government upon its passing.

Dear Mr Rhett

I have no qualms with setting up such a base, however I suggest that we separate diplomacy from military bureaucracy. Twilight's hollow is a temporary capitol, which will remain until the NAP threat has been dealt with and Aerlanica City has been restored. I also suggest that the forward operating bases you suggest include other military members of the September Agreement.

Since the Government is little more than a skeleton crew manning a broken ship, I believe it would be shooting the gift horse if we were to hold our pride high and refuse the foreign aid. However as a token of gratitude, allow us to build the structures you have suggested with our own funds.

With gratitude

Jonathan Blinds.

"Stop playing with it."
Colin looked at Daniel.
"What?"
"The rifle, don't play with it," he said, pointing to the energy weapon (Dubbed the EDPR-I) that Colin was playing with, "It probably costs more than fifty LSW-15s."
Colin gave a shrug.
"If it costs a fortune, then...no wait...thats a stupid question."
"Precisely."
The doors of the truck were slammed briefly after the engine stopped.
"Show time."
The two C.O.U.R.I.E.R. combat agents left the truck and made their way outside. The waste-ranger who called in the "portal" walked towards them. Pointing up the hill he said.
"It's about a few hundred meters up that way behind a large boulder and that."
The C.O.U.R.I.E.R. agents nodded and walked back to the makeshift camp being set up. Walking towards the science team, dressed in an Aerlanican made H.M.E. suit (Hazardous Materials and Environment). Makeshift tents and prefab structures were being made, as a few soldiers began a five kilometre exclusion zone around the area, evacuating a small village. Machinery that the two agents were not specialised in was being offloaded off trucks. However, two suits of an experimental combat armour was placed in the area and was being tended to briefly.
"How's the armour." Daniel asked.
"Well, overall it is still...in one piece,” one of the engineers said doing a final check, “just a heads up, the actuator on the left knee for you Colin is a bit sticky, but other than that the SCBA is functional and the airtight seal is still in good condition.”
The engineer stood up.
“Any who, we’re able to button you up now.”
The agents began the long and arduous process of entering the armour. It was slightly cumbersome, but the armour was most likely the only thing between them and most dangers, or, at least, a high powered projectile.
Now sealed within the armour, they checked their small display on their left wrist: battery life was forty five minutes and oxygen was at three hours.
“Testing, testing this is Paladin-1 to operation command come in.” Daniel said over the radio.
“Roger Paladin-1, read you loud and clear, begin operation.
“All right.” Daniel said, lifting up his EDPR-I, “Lets investigate an anomaly.”
He turned to a collection of scientists.
“Lets move out, stay behind us.”
The C.O.U.R.I.E.R. agents walked forward and began the process of climbing up the hill. The armour made it slightly difficult; navigating the Aerlanican cliffs and mountainside in the armour was difficult due to the minor loss of mobility. But eventually they did reach the portal. A few scientists held instruments towards the portal. Colin gave a sideways glance to Daniel.
“Well, that is certainly something,” he said, “wanna touch it?”
“In your dreams Colin.”
“I’m picking up some strange energy,” said one of the scientists, “its…I want to say it’s radiation but…it’s…it’s interesting.”
“Scribe-3 what do you see?” Operation Command (OC) asked.
“It’s…its some sort of green coloured rift that…it appears to be a rift, yes, it’s approximately three meters.”
The portal flared.
“Wait…it just…it just fluctuated, the energy is spiking.”
The Scientists took several hurried steps backwards. Colin and Daniel aimed their energy weapons towards it.
“Something’s trying to get out, thats my bet.” Daniel said.
“Get the scientists out of here; we’ll let them do something else.
The portal flared again, and Colin and Daniel took a few steps back as well. The Scientists fled for a safer position as the Two Agents tried to extend their minds into the portal.

Oh wait, hang on, I forgot something:

EDPR-1: An experimental plasma weapon that fires bolts of plasma capable of penetrating light armour, and damaging medium armour. it is slightly bulky but is still ergonomic enough to be used in Close Quarters Combat.

Experimental Combat Armour (A.K.A. Heavy Armoured Combat Exoskeleton Mark 1 (HACE-I)): The HACE-I is a rudimentary armour and exoskeleton rig. Resembling a space suit covered in plates, it is able to protect the user against environmental hazards (I.e. extreme heat, extreme cold, airborne toxins, neurotoxins etc) and unspecialised small arms as long as it stays unpunctured. It, however, has only a limited amount of power to let it be operated, restricting it to only be used fro brief periods of time. It is also unreliable, and is liable for some components to break down from time to time.

Under normal circumstances the portal would have collapsed by now due to a lack of stabilization runes, but something about the environment is keeping it open. Nonetheless it is currently impossible to go through it due to its other end having been closed a good while ago, more specifically, its other end closed less than 5 seconds after the portal opened, just long enough for the waste-ranger it opened behind to have his soul ripped from his body and a demon to possess the now soulless body. As for the energy fluctuations, it seems that what ever was keeping this end stable can't keep it stable for much longer as the portal begins to destabilize.
Bolts of green lightning shoot out as the portal distorts, bursts of fel (https://wow.gamepedia.com/Fel) energy killing any plant life in the immediate vicinity.
