Krenya no more?

by Qazhshava

Today, on the 12th of April 2021, the Andah of Qazhshava released a post on Twatter stating her and The Kentalian Prime Minister, Viliem Ferjancić, to disolve krenya into the map of 1421. She also invited the tsar of Tiskaiya to join in too, he accepted.

The following exchange happened:

For some reason the user who Screen Shoted the tweet had a bug where it said AM and 30 instead of PM and 10

Plagyorasia

The Gears Turn

As tensions continue to boil high with it's neighbors, the Plagyorasian state has officially declared the mobilization of the state and it's populace in what can only be seen as a preparation for war. Despite the abysmal state of the Plagyor economy, it seems the Regency Council is undeterred in it's aims to press it's claims and justify it's recent actions on the international stage. Most critics have assessed that a potential war would be unwinnable, yet it appears the Plagyor general staff do not see this. If that assumption is true, then the only ones to blame are the Plagyors themselves.

Spheres within Spheres

In a strange series of events unfolding in central Plagyorasia today, independent journalists have announced that the city of Chorețu, in the Ioctocane-dominated central regions of the state, has gone eerily dark. All attempts to communicate with the city's government or military garrison nearby have failed. While the Regency Council has not acknowledged this incident officially, insiders have reported the movement of an entire motorized infantry division to the area, presumably to investigate this occurence.

Some ministers are allegedly already pointing fingers at Ioctocane nationalist groups, as leftist activity is usually extremely limited this far east. Regardless of the perpetrators, the initiation of economic mobilization and conscription in the Ioctocane regions has been halted while the investigation is underway. Still, the question on the minds of many is simple; what is going on in Chorețu?

Qui latine

The Second Battle of Qaleat Albahhar 'قلعة البحار':
Structures east and west dot a sandy beach for quite a sea spamming expanse; All of them making up the castle now under Qui Latinean control in Isshiki. It had been captured just a week prior, with skirmishes happening in the dug-outs. At the moment of the assault, 80 men were garrisoning while organized into two platoons. A few heavy weapons platforms are available, and a few scout cars, else is infantry. While the sun set below the horizon, the temperature also dropped to 54*F. If the cold wasn't enough, the sun going down also meant they were relatively blind in the night.

Quietly, a medium-sized force crawled up onto their position. It was perfect for the insurgents, quiet, darkness, the cold, all adding up to make them formidably in their element, the moment when one of Rénlèi's men made a grave mistake. He had snapped a twig below his knee accidentally, but Birieim Alwird had heard it. The man scrambled into a bush not to be seen, to what he thought was just in time for the officer to be oblivious. He was wrong. He heard the shouting from a ways away in the castle in a language he did not understand. 'Combatants spotted over the ridge in east and west bush lines, open fire.'.

As the final words left his mouth, the barrels lined up from each window and balcony started firing chunks of metal. Shouts rang out from the bushes and several thumping noises as eight men fell to the ground with spot on headshots. They would then find some rocks and lower quality sandbags to hide behind and shoot from cover. Skips of sand left and right until they would duck back under again. To combat this, Birieim Alwird commanded a squad down to ground level left of the structure. After that, soldiers fled the tower to spread out amongst the environment. Those in the monument slowly drove the enemy farther and farther away to the point where they didn't have the range.

It had then shifted to a ground-level battle, where the terrain would play a heavy role. Qui Latinean troops got in ditches and went prone on the ground so they would have adequate cover. Birieim Alwird had something up his sleeve; He planned for his mortars to mask a flanking squad while it moved to the left of the Insurgent force to start firing from where they could not immediately respond. The moment the shells launched, the minimal death count with each round was enough to prove to the insurgents that something was going on. Commander Faiyābendo would instruct his officers to keep an eye out, but they would not follow through.

When the flanking squad made it to their firing position, each man could have killed three or even four insurgents with their first burst, forcing them to scramble away even further back; Some just fled and would never find their way back to the insurgent division. The remaining twenty were rough and very well trained, probably the best organized of the Kyapita faction that Qui Latine kept fighting. To best describe how they acted, the officers asked Fuladh Qawiun to write a report.

'I knew these guys were tough, though I couldn't recall them; We had probably fought them before. They had learned from us then and now were ready to challenge us, so when I took my shot, I eagerly awaited the thumping sounds of their deaths. Morbid, I'm sure, but we had a duty to do, no time to cry about the lives lost. With each order I followed, I made better and better progress towards them. With a grenade at their feet, they went out in a glowing blaze.'

The defending force was incredibly battered, and the offense shattered, but it was still a decisive victory for Qui Latine.

SO FELLAS [b]WHATS THE STATE OF MILITARY SCIENCE HERE

So i've been thinking, like why DON'T me make an orbital strike cannon because I mean 1. it's super cool and 2. theres no global space laws here so we have no moral obligation to NOT make an orbital laser cannon. If we got some scientists on it I would very much like to lead this scientific effort.

well look I mean modern said 2015-2025 we could very feesably have a laser cannon in 5 years. if we where to say spearhead the research then we could have something in orbit soon. please consider my proposal for an orbital strike cannon as feesable. after all we have a bad crime rate so what better to fix it then to THREATEN THEM WITH ORBITAL OBLITERATION.

The thing is this is an RP, and there is enough war going on here and in the real world as is.

Orbital Cannons I think are too much, but Submersible carriers (Think the Alicorn)I think are more or less feasible as a replacement.

And the point? If it is for purposes of defending against space rocks then do it, but if it is used for war than it is a different manner entirely.

As such, The Sovereign Kingdom of Marlenka condemns the construction of Calamaro's Orbital Cannon.

NUCLEAR ARMS, where not trying to END THE WORLD here. the fallout could be devestating. while my proposal for an orbital cannon has been condemned I feel like I can reach a compromise. we simply just put a machine in space that can drop large 10 foot rods from orbit. the tech was made in the sixties, so it's feesable and I would gladly spearhead and allocate my country's budget to put a machine like this in orbit. if I can get this greenlit then this could mean the descive end of whatever war we're in. The problem is not whether it is feasible or not. It is the applications of this weapon.

And why do you need such a thing? WHY?!

also the reason Im proposing this is because I need external funding.

Now Im pretty sure we're in a war right now and I mean why risk able bodied soldiers when we can just drop 10 rods on a place and take claim over the scraps. the sheer fear that rod machine (which Im now calling "the bigger stick") would give off would quickly disuade any intrusion on our nations land. war would be OVER and we could sit happily knowing we no longer need to worry about excess military spending or massive loss of life. so I mean thats a PRETTY good implication there.

Honestly, I really get your point. But we need less war, not more. And while I can provide funding for this weapon, I will only DO SO IF IT WILL BE USED FOR NON-WAR RELATED PURPOSES. PERIOD.

A Day in the Life of an RDC Citizen
Heinrich woke up in his bed, listening to the eternal drumming of the alarm clock next to him. The man slid over, turning off the clock and slipping his way out of the beds sheets. Wiping his eyes from sleep, he straightened his posture and would stroll over to his closet. Opening the white doors and selecting his clothes for the day. He dawned a white shirt and jeans for the time, not needing any official clothing for the day. Heinrich sauntered over to his bedroom door, opening and exiting. He'd walk over to his kitchen. opening a cabinet and pulling out two small packets of oatmeal. Next he would take out a bowl, ripping open the two packages and pouring them in. Heinrich shuffled over and put the empty containers in the trash, and nearing his fridge. Opening the fridge he would pull out a near empty carton of milk, pouring the final bits of milk into the oatmeal, he'd toss it in the trash too. Sliding the bowl into the microwave, he'd press 2 minutes and slam the door shut. Heinrich walked to the bathroom as the food cooked, pulling out shaving cream and a razor. Applying the shaving cream to the stubble around his mustache, he'd shear off all stubble leaving a clean face besides his upper lip. Hearing the microwave beep, Heinrich finished up washing his face, and went to the kitchen. The man pulled the bowl out of the microwave, stirring a few times. He sat down at his Island counter, taking his phone out of his pocket and scrolling through the news. Eventually he would finish up his oatmeal, scrolling through for a few minutes before standing. Shuffling over to his living room, he took a seat on his couch, turning on the television to the morning weather forcast. Heinrich grabbed the TV remote, turning off the news. Looking out the living room window and into his driveway, and getting up from the couch. The man walked to his door, pulling on a overcoat and stepping outside. Strolling over to his car and opening the door, he slid in and shut the door. Soon Heinrich was cruising down the road, heading to the local grocery store. Heinrich pulled into the parking lot, shutting off the car and going inside the store. He'd grab a cart and walk down to the frozen food isle. Pulling out two microwave pizzas and various other items, he tossed them into the cart and carried on his great quest. He eventually pushed the cart to the cashier, who checked out and bagged his items. Strolling out of the store Heinrich places the bags in his car and drove back to his home. Dragging the groceries inside, Heinrich put them in the kitchen and checked the time, 12:37 PM. He shrugged, pulling a frozen pizza out of the fridge and into the microwave. Heinrich waited and then eventually pulled the pizza onto a plate and going back to the couch. "Gotta clean soon." He muttered to himself, eating a few slices of pizza. Eventually he set the plate aside and walked into his kitchen. He grabbed various dishes and tossed them into the dishwasher. Turning the dishwasher on he went to the remaining dishes in the sink. He grabbed a sponge, turned on the water, slapped some soap on it and started scrubbing. Only a few minutes later he set the clean dishes aside on a spread out rag to dry, and sat back down in the living room to finish the pizza.

Note: This is formatted as a live news broadcast from near Chorețu by an independent, anti-socialist news station.

"Breaking news tonight from central Plagyorasia: Reports have declared the validity of recent rumors regarding the Chorețu incident. A band of anarcho-syndicalist partisans with strong sympathies to the Syndicalist Union of Vescarium have seized control of the city of Chorețu and it's surrounding infrastructure, declaring the Chorețu Commune." Video cuts from the studio room, now depicting an overhead view of a desert highway, where Plagyor troops are driving in a column. "While Plagyor forces are already engaging in combat with these insurrectionists, the Regency Council continues to fervently deny any revolt is taking place. Investigations on the ground have proved otherwise, though, and the representatives of this commune have already stated their intent to remove the tyrannical Plagyor governme-"

The transmission is interrupted, and video feed cuts to static. Four minutes of silence pass, before a male voice speaks triumphantly in Iestine through the static.

"There's a whisper travelling Thuadia. Servants, don't you hear it? It's coming from the mouths of tyrants! Workers, don't you hear it?"

"From the aluminum, chromium, and diamond conglomerates! The voices stem from the chemical plants, as well!"

"Across the continent, there is one whisper:"

"War against our revolution!"

After an instrumental piece from what can only be assumed as a socialist song, the transmission abruptly ceases. Regularly scheduled programming does not resume at any point afterwards.

The Greater State of Bakyern 2

Elections in Bakyern
April 13, 2021

As the elections continue, Stafen Ovost has already been making headlines with tremendous support from a lot of the Bakyernian population following multiple rallies he attended to around the country and in major cities like Osbern and Kalvat. A lot of Bakyernians have been attracted by his campaign slogan of 'Bakyern First, World Second'. While Stafen Ovost, is ahead in the elections, his main opponent, Walter Lunsa, has been gaining support as well in southern and north-eastern municipalities. With the voting day already set for June 2, the candidates are hoping to cement their victory by gaining support of power states. As of far, experts predict Stafen Ovost to be the victor in the elections, but there's still uncertainty on who will win.

ooc: have you ever considered how nightmarish it would be to try and build the most technologically advanced weapons system in the region while at war? You aren't the US in the '40's as far as I know, and even then, it took America years of theoretical science and resource procurement, both with their own setbacks, to even make a functional nuclear weapon. How you intend to do something even larger in scope while relying on external funds in the middle of a warzone is beyond me.

This isn't even mentioning the fact that very few people would realistically help you, because you'd then have access to a superweapon greater than any nuclear arsenal in the world that can't even be retaliated against effectively. It's opening up the opportunity for an arms race in addition to being an absurdly complicated and expensive technological feat, and no other nation in the world would want to give another nation with questionable loyalties access to a trump card against every threat.

Just saying NS stats are non-canon in Role play. Calamaro, New sebronia is the Director of RP. Ask him for anything RP related. Also Calamaro do read our RP guide for any other questions. The link is down below.

Welcome to Anteria, the second planet in the Tendor System, home to humanity and all their beautiful nations!

The Anterian roleplay is a modern tech world completely unrelated to Earth. That means that the roleplay takes place in the current year; 2021, and any real-life countries, as well as the Earth, Solar System, Milky Way, etc simply don't exist. But how does it work?

First things first

    - The No. 1 rule in roleplay and worldbuilding is consent. So before you go and declare war on other countries, you need to understand that in order to include other countries into your roleplay, worldbuilding and lore, you have to get their permission to do so! That's why Anterian roleplay isn't just only acting and reacting, but often creating and discussing scenarios and events together with other members. Of course, foreign policy that includes other nations like for example travel bans, condemnations, or embargoes, which don't necessarily have to directly harm or generally affect the nation, are an exception.

    - Since this is a realtime RP in 2021, please stay realistic, especially when worldbuilding and roleplaying military. If you don’t know what is realistic and what’s not, just ask the Director of Roleplay (DoRP), a Councilor, or someone with enough knowledge to advise you.

    - In order for roleplay-posts to be canon, they have to be posted on the Regional Message Board (RMB), even if you already posted it in Link#today-in-anteria on the regional Discord!

How does one start roleplaying?

That is fairly simple. Whenever a new nation joins the roleplay, everyone acts like they have always existed. That way people are free to create their lore as they wish. If you don't know what to post or want to contact other roleplayers on a simpler way than having to write telegrams, there are several channels on our regional LinkDiscord server dedicated to roleplay and worldbuilding, which is why I highly recommend joining it!

On the other side, whenever a nation leaves the roleplay, may it be due to inactivity and CTEing (Nations "cease to exist" after 28/60 days of inactivity on NationStates, depending on if they are on Vacation Mode or not), leaving Anteria, or the player changing their nation in the roleplay, everyone acts as if the nation never existed in the first place.

If you want to add some spice to your worldbuilding, you can also create a wikipedia-like article about your nation on a website called LinkIIWiki. Don’t know how it works or how to start? Just ask Registrars or people with knowledge for help and take a look in #wiki-requests on Discord. We already have lots of articles, including one about LinkAnteria itself! When looking at the iiwiki-page, you might notice that Anteria is treated as a planet in the "LinkTendor System", which means that planets like Mars don't exist and that our system looks different. Anteria is the name of the planet, similar to how our planet is called "Earth" or "Terra". Same goes with our irl countries. As England doesn't exist in our roleplay, the universal language is often referred to as "Common".

Now we get to the most complicated part of Anterian roleplay: War.
Anteria works so well because we have the rules stated here. And that also applies to roleplaying warfare. To prevent newer players from jumping into the RP and directly trying to start wars or similar, we have several rules in order to restrict warfare. One of those being that you as a new player are not allowed to start conflicts like wars (including insurgencies and civil wars) for the first 28 days of your stay in Anteria. That way, we can ensure that people get to know our RP and rules well enough instead of heading right into low-quality and/or badly prepared warfare roleplay.
Additional to that, in order to start wars, there should be some kind of buildup and casus belli (so a valid reason for war), instead of just declaring it out of the blue.

Those are just some examples, so please make sure to read the
Rules of War
!

When talking about war history, we do have worldbuilt our own equivalent to the two irl World Wars; The Great War. In order to participate, I recommend contacting Zhousheng (Discord LinkFjana#6634).

The Map

Of course, roleplaying and worldbuilding without having an idea of where nations are is almost impossible. That is why we maintain a map of Anteria. In order to get a spot on the map, you have to claim the area you want your nation to be. You can do that by either downloading it or taking a screenshot (The latest map is linked on Anteria's World Factbook Entry, as well as in the Link#map-submissions channel on Discord), marking your claim (make sure it is reasonably sized and consider other maps like climate, tropical storms, etc.), and sending the claim to the Director of Cartography, Foxomexra, either by sending a telegram or posting the claim in Link#map-submissions on Discord.

When you have claimed a spot, your nation will be added in the next map update, which is every Wednesday and Saturday

White spots on the map are unclaimed land. It is complicated on how much one can interact with it, as there neither a void, nor complete anarchy with no governing structure, but rather some kind of governments noone can roleplay with, since there is no player to roleplay with. That also makes expansion of territory into unclaimed land for roleplay purposes a complicated topic, but not an impossible one. If you have something like that in mind for a roleplay idea, just talk with the Director of Cartography or Roleplay.

Need more information? Just read the Map Guide

The essentials of your worldbuillding

What you definitely need are the population and GDP of your country. Those are one of the most defining factors of how your country is gonna look like. Since NationStates-stats are highly unrealistic, you will have to come up with your own. For that I recommend the following:

    1. Ask the cartographer Foxomexra about the size of your claim.
    2. Settle on a population density, taking climate and other stuff into account.
    3. Calculate your Population (Pop. Density × Size)
    4. Settle on a GDP per capita (if you plan on being as wealthy as European nations, anything in a range of 10,000-45,000 ACU range is recommended, 50,000 ACU and above is quite wealthy, and countries even wealthier than that are usually smaller in population, like Switzerland, Qatar, Norway, etc.)
    5. Calculate your GDP (GDP per capita × Population)

Please be reasonable with your nation's population density and most importantly GDP per capita. Trying to be a world-dominating economic power like the irl USA will not work!
For population density and GDP per capita, I suggest taking real-life countries as a reference. If you are wondering what “ACU” (or sign ₳) is, it’s an abbreviation for “Anterian Currency Unit”. Though it’s not a currency but only a unit of measurement for international trade. 1 ACU is 1 LinkUSD. Similar concept extends to the so called “Anterian Wealth Unit” (AWU, ₩), which is equal to one LinkInternational (Geary–Khamis) Dollar and is used as a unit of measurement for the LinkPurchasing power parity.

Alright, for all those involved in the above conversation.

No one is developing or deploying WMDs without a lot of prior planning, worldbuilding and express consent from the sitting RP Councillor team. This especially applies hypothetical space weaponry, that's simply not what Anteria is about and it's never going to be. I cannot stress that enough; should you need a hand with RP, military or otherwise, there are plenty of people here and on the discord, myself included, happy to help.

Let's head off the emergence of this issue before it begins please. Many thanks, your friendly neighbourhood RP Councillor.
