You know the MAGA phrase was originally used by Reagan then Clinton adopted it and then Trump did it.

The Liberal Dictatorship of His Excellency

As usual, I wish Alcris a successful month of holding initiatives and referendums.

Avanor wrote:Initiative: Require Monthly Government Reports
An initiative which would require regional councilors to publish monthly reports on their office's actions over the past month.

I would like to note as someone who has visited hundreds (literally) of NationStates regions and other RP democracies for voters to be careful from creating a system that requires too much paperwork/bureaucracy. Usually the bureaucracy builds up slowly — requirements for reports/paperwork for x function, y function, z function, etc. are usually passed separately. Over time the paperwork becomes too much and the state just collapses because government officials and/or civil servants simply can't (or is more often the case — aren't motivated) to keep up. That won't happen instantly, of course, because regions are usually very well motivated in the first months of operation but I've seen regions years down the line (like 2-3 years later) collapse into itself because of excessive bureaucracy. Either the region just dies (no one even wants to run for office anymore) or there is a massive movement to "reset" and start from scratch (which can be really destabilising and unsustainable).

That is to say that I'm not advocating people to vote one way or the other for this specific initiative. But if by report, you mean reports of a similar level that you have been doing for your allied regions like this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1B3SdzZAIHoYranpaDkS3kvz6L4ey7FE6/view (New West Indies opinion), then I'd be really mindful that that could be imposing too onerous of a duty on government officials. If, on the other hand, the requirements of the initiative can be done in a simple paragraph, then I think the duty is far less onerous. In any case I think that Alcris voters should be careful to consider the impact paperwork requirements can have when imposed on government offices.

I think the policy is advocating something similar. It would be a typed statement that would just be pasted into one of our template documents.

The LaraLeague Final Final-ly Goes Ahead
After days of investigation, Edropian and international police have finally caught the perpetrator of the poisoning in Drefort last week. Toydemir Tezcan, a Down Unian fan with nationalistic tendencies who travelled to Edropia to watch his team win and who despised Jakob Bern's penalty call, has been arrested for attempted murder and is being kept in prison in Edropia to await trial. Mr Bern is recovering well in the meantime, and regrets that he will not be able to referee the final, which is to go ahead today as planned.

And the winner is...
After some incredible goals on both sides, and a remarkable comeback from Hetland who were down 3-1, the final was tied at full time. Half an hour of extra time was added. Two and a half minutes in, Mistletoe Coast's Barnabus Ravenswood scored, and it looked like a quick and easy victory for his team... but then, just 27 seconds later, while some MC fans were still cheering, Feliks Adben knocks the ball past their goalkeeper and into the back of the net. After this, the game remained tied, and it looked like it might go to a penalty shoot-out...
But then... Just 6 minutes before the end...
MC's Lysander Vanderbilt scored! With no time to come back, Hetland could only sit and watch as, continuing their unbroken 6-in-a-row win streak, Mistletoe coast wins LaraLeague Season 3!
