Been days fishing a fair to middling creek.
Started with coffee in an old tin cup.
Had good luck, but the big one I still seek.
A jitterbug on the surface is what’s up!

In any case, I set all my trot lines.
And I caught these fishes here I’ll flay.
These gators drifting about eatin’ my bait.
It’s on their account the big one got away!

Those reptiles are always beneath the surface.
And the cast and retrieve was by the book.
We’re after the same big bass...same purpose.
But that big ‘ol lunker...he threw the hook!
