This is absolutely appalling. We would like to issue a warning to every single South Italian citizen not behind liberation's front line: If you are asked to go with them, do so, and then during the battle, turn the guns on your commanding officers and then surrender to us, so that no harm is done to you. We will then do our best to get you home in a timely manner. In this way you can both resist this horrific order and also not be murdered in your own homes for not joining the fascists. If possible, adults, hide your children so that they have a chance to not see the horrors of war. The use of child soldiers is absolutely evil and those responsible shall be repaid blow by blow. In addition, partisans and comrades, if you kill an Imperial Front recruiter, we will not at all prosecute you after our revolutionary victory. Make examples of them and they will get scared off. Down the middle the 5th Labradorian Infantry storms past the Minnesotan outpost weapons down as they make their way to the Capital of KSI, the Heart of Fascism in the world today. Out from the outpost to join them come the East Canadians and the Second Minnesota, as the where of the heavy guns of cover fire come from behind. Due to the blocked streets, the Kingdom of South Italy forces scramble to guard the front door of the Capital building.

At 6:50 the Labradorans breech the Capital, and remove the Fascist rag from the building, hoisting in its place the Flags of Labrador, and the Coalition.

None are seen in the treeless park, and the soldiers continue forward, finding more of these burned out tents with no occupants. Suddenly machine gun fire begins to pepper the park, and the soldiers duck for cover before returning fire. They slowly make a crawl through mud towards the buildings and better cover, as they sporadically fire upon the perceived position of the machine gunner. Suddenly, as the sun sets, the rain stops and the clouds part, casting beautiful copper rays over the beleaguered city. As this happens, a few flags are raised over the Bari Stock Exchange: The Northarian flag, the Partisan flag, and the Proletarian Student Union flag. As this happens, it is clear that the battle is at last over, as many of the conscripts surrender, and the few remaining commanders from both Imperial Front and the Kingdom of South Italy are marched out, presenting their colours to the Northarian command in front of the stock exchange. The city of Bari has officially fallen.

In domestic news, a huge new budget for intelligence services is officially approved and passed by the Senate, before being signed by President O'Dalaigh. Imperial Front is going to be hunted to the ends of the earth for their crimes that were so extreme that even the Kingdom of South Italy disavowed them, as well as their many crimes against humanity in general. Fascism will die in this world.

This betrayal is very very rich. You do understand that you are losing, and losing hard, right? This is why you profit-focused types are always doomed to failure. You are never quite willing to do what is necessary for victory, because it might interfere with your short term bottom line. You refuse to feed your own people and help them get up, you refuse to adopt any kind of coherent military strategy that works, and then you condemn us for taking extreme measures to try and bail you out? You should be thanking us, because we are the only reason you are even still alive as a country right now, and due to your incompetence it's not looking like that is going to be the case much longer. Polls have officially closed across the North Sea Realm, and the election results shall be delivered tomorrow as the vote-counters resume their tally in the morning. Following the results, the new government will be sworn in February 1st, 2024. Should the Royal County elect a new candidate for the monarchy, the new monarch shall be officially coronated this summer on Saint Olaf's Day, though a brief swearing-in ceremony shall be given out of the necessity of our present situation on February 1st, 2024 as well. This will allow the new monarch to begin assuming the duties of the office, as the position is currently vacant.

Reporting live from Bergen, the official election results have officially been tallied and calculated.

The United Front won an impressive 71.1% of the vote, taking 212 seats. This victory comes after two events that very much influenced this final tally. The abolition of the national religion within the North Sea Realm looked to damage the United Front's standing, and although not enough to swing the election, it posed a very real danger to their supermajority in the Senate. This would have stripped the United Front of their power to override the executive veto, potentially inhibiting their ability to push through more controversial laws such as this. However, their election chances were saved following the South Italian Anti-Fascist War, as this gave the Party a great opportunity to show the Northarian people their policy on fascism. This stance, especially following the fascist murder of King Agder and the dragging of the North Sea Realm into yet another conflict against imperial Front, proved very popular among the horrified populace. This attitude seems to have carried over into the general election, and pundits theorise that the United Front's actions during the war repaired their standing among their disaffected voters that were displeased by the previous landmark legislation. Going forward, the United Front will need to retain their voter bloc as the war becomes more and more a memory, and the passions of war begin to calm. In her party's victory speech, Speaker of the Senate and Party Chairwoman Rosa Thälmann announced a new round of infrastructure spending, with special funding set aside for the upgrade of the nation's high speed rail network, as well as a reinvigoration of the nation's ocean liner industry, particularly in regards to green and highly affordable ocean travel. It seems that in this coming year, the United Front will continue the focus on building socialised productive forces, as well as focusing these productive forces on the improvement of infrastructure and travel networks.

The Fish and Loaves Party was a massive winner this year, with a very impressive 20.5% of the vote and 61 seats. Drawing support from United Front voters that tended to be more personally pious, as well as taking many votes from their fellow opposition parties, a nearly 70% increase from their former seat count of 39. Although the United Front regained much of their oppositional base, 2.3% of the party still saw fit to cast their support behind Fish and Loaves. Within the party, there is slight concern over the future of the party long-term, as youth voter exit polling revealed that the youth was actually the least likely to vote for Fish and Loaves out of all age demographics, while particularly those aged 45+ were more likely, though the United Front did dominate all age groups. Furthermore, the respondents ages 16-35 were far more likely to say that their personal religion did not factor into their choice, or that they either did not describe themselves as religious or described themselves as belonging to a religion other than Christianity.

The Pirates and the Alliance for the 21st Century took massive losses, garnering a meagre 6.0% and 2.3% showing, respectively. This grants the Pirates 18 seats, and the Alliance 7 seats. These two parties are in fairly dire straits. Much of their programmes were adopted by the United Front, depriving them of the vital support needed to sustain a long-term political operation. The Alliance in particular has suffered greatly, as science has been well-funded for many election cycles now and public support for its prioritisation over all else has cooled dramatically. Both parties, however, suffered significant losses this cycle due to many of the more pious members of these parties throwing their support behind Fish and Loaves. They are expected to continue to form the Opposition alongside Fish and Loaves, and shall attempt to the best of their abilities to stall the United Front's legislative agenda, and to advance their own.

The two federacies have also sent their delegations to the Capital, having elected their representatives locally.

The Royal County has elected Elise Dyrdalr, daughter of King Agder, as the nation's new monarch. The Queen-Elect is a staunch communist, describing herself as a follower of Marxism-Leninism-Rosa Thälmann Thought, and has already made statements that she will do her best to make sure she is the last monarch of the nation. In a twist of irony, the nation broadly voted to keep the ceremonial monarch position, though this was by a much slimmer margin than in past years, with only 51.2% of the nation saying they were satisfied with the monarchy as it is. 46.6% expressed a desire to abolish the position, and 2.2% expressed a desire to strengthen the position, though this varied among this minority. Time will tell if Queen-Elect Elise shall be able to make good on her promise to the Royal County and to the nation as a whole. Should she be successful in this goal, the nation will become a full republic once again, for the first time since 2017 when current President Veia O'Dalaigh was given temporary absolute power in order to bypass Jefferson Lee Stevens's party in the Senate.

The new Senate has officially been sworn in, and shall meet in their first session next week to elect the Speaker. Given the United Front's overwhelming majority, Rosa Thälmann is expected to be elected to her third term as Speaker of the Senate. She is the most popular choice out of all to gain the position, though she does appear to have a few challengers this time around within the party. Time will tell if these unlikely opponents will come out on top, or if Thälmann will once again be the leader of the nation's legislature.

Queen-Elect Elise was sworn in with a brief ceremony in Riksdal, vowing to protect the workers of the North Sea Realm, and in her speech afterwards opening up many criticisms of monarchy. The attendees mostly seemed to approve, and she received applause from the local crowd. She will officially assume the duties of the Monarch next week as well. Queen-Elect Elise will officially be coronated on the traditional Saint Olaf's Day on July 29, and has asked to retain the title of Queen-Elect until then. The Queen-Elect has vowed to make sure that this coronation will be the last in Northarian history, so the nation may transition to a full People's Republic as soon as possible.

Candidate profiles for the Speaker election:

Rosa Thälmann - Rosa Thälmann is the current incumbent speaker, and represents the current ideological position the United Front occupies. Coming from the United Marxist Workers faction of the party, she is seen as the more progressive and left wing candidate, and will continue the policies of the ongoing Cultural Revolution and Great Proletarian Re-Industrialisation Campaign. She is also the current chair of the United Front, and has experience winning over the rival faction within the party, the remnants of the Social Democratic Union, a component of the United Front that has shrunk significantly in support since the merge. She also has the backing of the former Left-Green members, as she has ensured that the Great Proletarian Re-Industrialisation Campaign is conducted in an environmentally friendly manner. Rosa Thälmann is the most likely candidate to win, the question is much more likely a question of margins. A smaller margin may damage her mandate as chairwoman, especially if dissatisfaction among United Front members is high.

Michael Gobo - Michael Gobo is the main challenger to Thälmann's speakership. Having roots as a Social Democratic Union senator for many years now, his speakership would attempt to moderate the United Front's position, potentially leading to limited economic opening up alongside promises that no social services would be compromised. Gobo has said that he would "end immediately" the Cultural Revolution, which he sees as unnecessary state interference in the culture of the people. He is not opposed to the Great Proletarian Re-Industrialisation Campaign, though in line with the Social Democrats he believes that the state should reduce the amount of industry directly controlled, keeping some but allowing "alternative forms of management" to run these industries, with strong unions in the sector working together with the owners of these industries. Michael Gobo believes that the mixed economy is the most efficient, as it "combines the safeguards of socialism with the efficiency of the market." The Opposition is expected to back him, especially after his remarks against Thälmann after the United Front voted to abolish the national religion. Gobo's best chance at the speakership relies on him getting the support of the entire Social Democratic wing of the party, a wing that has been shrinking as the economy has been booming, alongside record wealth and income equality. Depending on the internal strength of the United Marxist Workers faction, he may even need to peel some of them away to have a realistic path to power.

Dave Skau-Veng - Dave Skau-Veng comes from the United Marxist Workers faction, and believes that the material conditions of the North Sea Realm are not quite ready for socialism. Skau-Veng proposes an opening up of the Northarian economy to attract the remaining foreign capitalists to do business there, and using them to bring in more industry that can then serve as a good industrial base for the upcoming phase of socialism. His reasoning is that the last time the North Sea Realm industrialised, it had many foreign territories to draw resources from. Now, he argues, it does not, and thus might not be able to complete a totally native re-industrialisation, hence the need to draw capitalist resources into the nation to complete it. Skau-Veng additionally is more socially conservative than Thälmann, and although he is not regressive in policy, his speakership may see a decrease in the cultural rate of progress. In particular, he has criticisms of how the Cultural Revolution has been carried out, and has described Rosa Thälmann and her policies as "70% good, 30% bad." Skau-Veng's candidacy, however, is not taken very seriously, and none of the United Front in general has expressed interest in his plan.

BREAKING: Mass Demonstrations in Major Cities throughout the Nation

Today, in many major cities throughout the North Sea Realm, many demonstrations broke out in support of re-electing Rosa Thälmann as the Speaker of the Senate. This is occurring the day before the official vote is to be held, and appears to be led by the Proletarian Student Union, a youth movement characterised by radical progressivism and commitment to Marxist-Leninist doctrine. The PSU endorsed Chairwoman Thälmann for the speakership immediately after she announced that she would be pursuing the position for the third year. Many of the youth that turned out carried handheld United Front flags and crocus flowers in bouquets. Also present were images of Marx, Engels, Lenin, and various other revolutionaries of history. Chants also went up from the crowd, calling to "Uphold the Revolution" and to "Give Revisionism No Home." Many revolutionary songs were sung by the crowd, with much exhilaration and enthusiasm. The mood was described as "electric" by reporters on the ground, particularly by our field reporter Emma Mickelson.

The demonstrations also targeted the two candidates running against Thälmann as "revisionists" and "traitors" who would "plunge Northaria back into the old chaos," calling out the candidates for their policies of reformism and a restoration of a capital-oriented economy. The demonstrators reminded various particular senators of the power of their generation, particularly a few United Front senators originally of the Social Democratic wing of the party that had been caught on record supporting the nomination of candidate Michael Gobo. These senators declined to comment on the demonstrations and if this had any impact on their choice. Whether these senators will listen to their constituents remains to be seen, though should they ignore them, they will almost certainly face possibility of a recall vote.

Chairwoman Rosa Thälmann gave a short address to the Party Central Committee of the United Front regarding the demonstrations.

"Comrades, it is clear that the youth of our nation, and many more hardworking Northarians of all generations, approve of the current path we are taking, our great endeavour to overturn reaction and ensure it never returns to our shores. And only the current path is capable of this. Revisionist doctrines, and even a return to a more capitalist social-democratic system, are being recognised as the gateways to chaos that they are. If we give the capitalists even one inch, they are sure to march into this dignified assembly with all the self-confidence in the world, and encourage and bribe us into selling out our own people, the very people we represent here. They will take a mile, mark my words. Our people will once again be subjected to wage-slavery. They will have to sell off their precious time on this Earth for a paltry sum all while the bulk of the value they produce gets funnelled into ever-deepening pockets. They will once again be at the mercy of ever fluctuating, ever increasing prices even for necessities. Jobs will no longer be guaranteed, and without one people may even be forced to starve and freeze on the streets, unable to "afford" housing. People who contribute to keeping our society running will be treated like machines rather than precious human souls, overworked and underpaid. There is no way to possibly reconcile this system of poverty with a socialist people's republic. Capital must be resisted, and will always be a danger no matter how many guardrails are put on it. Guardrails can always be removed by useful servants of capital who get into power. It is better to simply not need to rely on them to keep the working class free and in control of their own destiny.

We have also seen the lengths the capitalists are willing to go to in order to defend "private" property. We saw it firsthand in South Italy, where the capitalists worked right alongside Imperial Front, believing they could keep a leash on them, only stopping when Imperial Front of course turned on them. Would we see this same thing happen here? What lengths would capital go to in order to restore their power fully in Northaria? How would these lengths affect the worker?

Only the current path, only Marxism-Leninism, provides a working framework to build a better future for our country. Through the efforts of this body, and our Senate, we have rebuilt our industrial base in a sustainable yet powerful way, we have tackled the unemployment crisis, we have given dignity and equality to the workers in our land, we have enriched the common worker, we have greatly expanded services, we have hit and exceeded every production goal we set, we have made significant social progress even in the realms of societal attitudes towards minorities of many types, we have crushed and driven out a fascist insurrection in our own streets with the help of people inspired by our party's efforts, and we have given people something that they have needed for centuries: hope. Let us continue to build the future we were elected to build. Let us create the society that our people deserve from us. Let us listen to the youth, the future of our country, who in a decade will be standing exactly where we stand today, and include all voices in the North Sea Realm, ignoring no minority group. Most surprising, however, was the amount of Social Democrat-aligned United Front senators that ended up breaking towards Thälmann as the tally continued to be counted. Only eleven out of the two hundred twelve United Front senators ended up giving their support to Gobo, joining the majority of the Opposition senators. Surprisingly, a senator from the Alliance ended up casting a vote for Thälmann, as well as the Royal County senator. This brought her total up to an impressive 203 votes out of the 299 that were cast, as the Anarcho-Syndicalist Commune senator, as is tradition at this point, deliberately abstained from the vote to avoid "giving legitimacy to whatever type of oppressive statist wins." Despite this... brave stand... Thälmann still came away the absolute victor of the day, with over 2/3 support in the legislative body. This is notably higher than her previous result, which came in at roughly 58% this time last year. With her new mandate, it is clear that the socialist agenda will continue into the future.

Meanwhile, the youth demonstrations that began yesterday have continued into today, with the Bergen demonstration in particular turning into a celebration when an unknown woman shouted that Thälmann had won re-election. Almost instantly, Republic Pavilion was transformed from a state of protest to a wild party. Flags were waved, food was ordered, and Proletarian Student Union members had friendly and enriching conversations with each other in a display of national solidarity between all peoples of the country.

We appreciate the congratulations, but we will need to decline. Unfortunately, Pizza Xat has historically attempted to undermine socialism in its own homeland, though fortunately it was unsuccessful and the USSR stands to this day. BREAKING: LIBERTY PREVAILS IN VOTE

The Northarian people today turned out to present their position on the abolition of the monarchy. On the ballot for the popular referendum, three options were given: to abolish the monarchy, to keep the monarchy, or neither position. The position for abolition received the majority of the votes, following an intense week-long campaign by, ironically, the Queen-Elect, as well as her supporters among the more radical faction of the United Front.

The "For" vote received a decisive 64.9% majority, and was able to win over many voters who in January voted to keep the office as it was. The voters motivated to change, in exit polls, gave their reasons to the press. The most common reason in January for the retaining vote was a lack of interest in the position, and believing it did not affect much in the country. These voters claimed that the Queen-Elect arguing against a monarchy made them much more motivated to do away with it. The arguments that the most voters found convincing were arguments from Northarian history and from political assertions of socialist doctrine.

The "Against" vote garnered a much smaller 21.3%, with most of these votes coming from members who identified more with Fish and Loaves. Those motivated to vote in such a way gave a few different answers as to why, with most answers involving a mention of how the monarchy actually served as a bulwark of labour power in the RU.

Those who voted for neither option mostly voted to say they did not mind either way, as long as the country stays together and the instability of the past is not repeated.

A Constitutional Convention is currently being organised in Belfast, and Senators and legal experts, as well as People's Delegates, are currently making the trip to that august city, constitutional drafts in hand. Should the Convention approve a constitution, it will then be sent out to the people for a vote as soon as is possible. In the meantime, the Supreme Court shall temporarily ensure that the nation is taken care of, and the central and local justices will make sure that no new policies are forced through in this time between constitutions.

The monarchy has officially been abolished. Long live our new republic!
