 The Unified Zionist Tribes of Friedmanica | David Post: Today the Friedmanican Knesset certified the results of the public referendum on mandatory military service. By order of the people, Orthodox religious groups are no longer exempt from mandatory service. Members of such groups may, however, serve in roles that are not combat facing. The new law states that all Friedonians must serve at least one year in a combat facing unit, or two years in a non combat facing unit/public service program. Enlistment is required before the age of 30. The new law takes effect for all Friedonians under the age of 28 on May 1. The law further reformed the benifits for those who serve. All Friedonians who choose to remain in a combat facing role beyond two years will receive free education up to any degree level they can attain, and free health care for the remainder of their life (as well as for their children until adulthood).
