How about a trait for FTL that only is safe when your energy shields are up, or energy weapons that can be fired from the energy shield regardless of where the gu that shoots them is facing?

I think the Gellar Field that stabilizes the ship is separate from the Void Shields that deflect major damage/projectiles, but given how creative we are here, sure.

I'm thinking if your shields are down and you use Warp travel you get maybe a 25% chance for each ship to separately be corrupted by demons/Chaos, and there's a 50/50 chance for the corrupted vessels to either stay with the fleet and engage the others once they drop out of FTL, or hide away and be baddies for later, possibly growing in power.
