By a quirk of fate and the Peasants' revolution interrupting his guillotine appointment, he ends up not beheaded. He is befriended by a trickster god represented by a jack o lantern on a hung scarecrow. He starts to get revenge on those who have wronged him, but in the process, goes from a young man with a good heart to the biggest don of the rural bretons. When he does find his daughter, she no longer recognizes him...

A story of revenge, betrayal and eventually losing oneself to the evil that we have to become to combat evil...
