Welcome Aboard! Here are the Ropes of the Region!
Welcome to Libertas!
Hello, and welcome to Libertas, the land of freedom and democracy. This is a guide to help you get the full experience of NationStates and all that Libertas has to offer. This isn’t a guide to NationStates in general (a guide for that can be found here).
All the dispatches mentioned on this page (as well as this page itself) are available from the World Factbook Entry (or Libertas homepage); to access this simply click ‘Libertas’ with the flag icon, on the left of the screen if you are using a PC, or from the drop-down selection if you are on mobile.
As a member of Libertas, you are free to use the Regional Message Board (the RMB), to communicate with other members in Libertas, either for help or for recreational purposes; we like to have fun in Libertas :)
However, to get the full experience of Libertas, you should endeavour to become a Citizen. Luckily, it is very easy to do so.
How Do I Become a Citizen?
To be a citizen all you need to do is keep your primary nation in Libertas and have it be a World Assembly member. Easy!
Oh! And don't forget to inform the President of all of your puppet nations. The current president is Turealia. Just shoot him a telegram. He don't mind!
What is a Puppet?
A puppet is simply another NationStates account. There are many reasons why you would create a puppet, usually for the raiding metagame (more details can be found in the Blue Liberation Army section below).
What is the World Assembly? How Do I Become a Member?
The World Assembly is the world's governing body; the main purpose is to vote for legislation that you like and vote against legislation you dislike. Members can also propose legislation to the WA, assuming they have endorsements from other members.
What is RP? How Do I Get Involved?
RP, or roleplay, is the ‘storyline’ that we have created involving our nations and how they fit into the world of Libertas. To truly get involved in RP, you’ll first want to get on the map. The only requirement is to be a citizen, and then you’ll need to submit a map application form, of which you can find more information here.
Are There Any Restrictions on RP?
We do have rules and restrictions on what you can and cannot do (which can be found here)
What Has Happened So Far? I Wouldn’t Want to Jump in Blind…
Your own story is up to you, the past of your country is for you to decide, and you can always telegram members for help. However, if you want to know about the past of the other nations in Libertas, you will want to check out their factbooks (found on the pages of each nation) to see if they have posted anything relevant.

What is Legislation?
Legislation are the laws of Libertas; existing legislation (as well as proposals) can be found here. To submit a proposal, you’ll need to either submit it to the Vice President by telegram or post a clear final version in the RMB. The Vice President will then review the legislation, and if it is acceptable, will put it to a vote.
What is the Blue Liberation Army?
The Blue Liberation Army is the regional army in the defending and raiding metagame. As a Citizen of Libertas, you are eligible to join - but this requires you to be very active (at least once a day), and willing to move (or have a puppet) to different nations to protect them from raiders.

How Else Can I Get Involved in Libertas?
The easiest way you can get involved is to vote. We have multiple election seasons a year (usually 2 as they’re spaced every 5 months) and this will allow you to vote on who you think should be an Officer (note: you cannot nominate members, Citizens will put themselves forward for certain positions). We have multiple roles available, which are explained below:
The President: Currently Turealia. The President acts as a Delegate to the World Assembly, and has authority over all other Officers.
The Vice President: Currently 
Ienovo. The Vice President is in charge of legislation, and also works with the President in coordinating regional functions.
Secretary of Foreign Affairs: Currently Vacant. The Secretary of State manages foreign relations with other regions.
The Secretary of Defense: Currently 
Kronomia. The Secretary of Defense is in charge of maintaining regional security, and also commands the Blue Liberation Army.
Secretary of Culture: Currently The manchu republic. The Secretary of Culture is in charge of recreational activity in Libertas, roleplay events, contests, etc.
Any Citizen can vote and apply for any of the roles; however, as stated in the Constitution of Libertas, you can only hold one role at a time.
