Welcome to the Federation of Conservative Nations!
Established 9-9-17

Welcome to the Federation of Conservative Nations! We're a democratic regional government region dedicated to promoting conservative values, though anyone is welcome to take part in our region. The Federation is the successor to the Confederacy of Conservative Nations, established 6-01-17, and the the Confederation of Conservative Nations, established 2-01-17.

This guide will essentially help you understand how our region works, and hopefully get you to participate in it as well. The government of the FCN welcomes you to the Federation.

Basics

To start out, please introduce yourself on the Regional Message Board (RMB). We mainly use a chat site called 'discord' for communication, which you can join by Linkclicking here or with the link to our in the World Factbook Entry (WFE). We also encourage and frequently have debates and discussions on our RMB. We have a constitution by which we abide, based on that of our predecessor region & written by several FCN members in 2018. Our elections are held elections every three months, during which we elect our President and Senate Speaker. You can become a Senator by joining the World Assembly (WA) and our discord server.

We also has regional roleplays, directed by the Secretary of Internal Affairs. To participate, contact the Secretary of Internal Affairs about whichever roleplay is going on. The current roleplay is a planned 2070's war roleplay, which will take place on the NationStates forums.

The Senate

The first step to participating in our region for most people is to join the senate. To do this, join our regional discord server and become a member of the WA. You can then ask to become a senator on the discord, or DM the founder, President, or WA delegate (or send a telegram). Once you follow these steps, you will become a Senator.

As a Senator, it is your duty to vote on senate proposals and bills to make the region a better place. Most voting lasts for 24 hours, during which in the voting chambers, you can vote "aye", "nay", or "present". Any given bill needs over 1/2 of the votes to pass, excluding amendments which require 2/3 of the votes. You can simply propose a bill or amendment by writing a dispatch on NS and then posting a link to it on the senate debate channel. It is encouraged that all Senators are active, devoted to the region, and have the Federation's best interests in mind, and we encourage all Senators to propose legislation to help make the region better.

Participating in the Region

There are many other ways to participate in our region without joining the senate or the World Assembly. You can participate in our roleplays, for example, or join our regional discord to interact with us and learn of regional happenings. You can also be active and post on the RMB and take part in debates. If you're new to the FCN, we suggest you do the following:
1. Introduce yourself on the RMB and join our discord ASAP to become involved
2. Read this dispatch and reading our constitution, as well as other FCN historical documents
3. Join the World Assembly (WA) and become familiar with our regional government
4. Get to know the people in our region and post often on the RMB or discord
5. Apply for citizenship and get involved in roleplay
6. Join the Federation's Senate if you're in the World Assembly and a citizen on our discord
7. Join a political party & run/vote in an election

Elections

At the moment, we hold elections every three months, the next elections occurring in October. To participate in the election, make it known to the founder and people that you are running, and campaign before the elections start. Each election lasts 24 hours. The voting will take place by NS regional polls. It is suggested that every citizen of the Federation try to be involved in regional politics and elections. The next election schedule goes as follows:
9/21/18-10/10/19
Campaigning & Registration
10/11/19
REC Established
10/12/19
Senate Speaker polls open
10/13/19
Senate Speaker polls close/Presidential polls open
10/14/19
Presidential polls close, Regional Lock lifted, President takes office & chooses his cabinet.

The FCN has two elections in its election season, the Presidential Elections and the Senate Speaker elections. The President chooses and confirms his cabinet after elections occur.

Roleplaying

Our region is also a roleplay region, meaning we have roleplayers and an active roleplay most of the time. You can look at examples of roleplay on the NS Forums or ask a member for an example of one of our previous roleplays to get familiar. Everyone in the FCN can apply to join whatever ongoing regional roleplay is occuring by telegramming the current Secretary of Internal Affairs for information and how to sign up.
