Nationalist Gold Union
The Nationalist Gold Union of Keystone, Nova Anglo, Niagara, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Chisasibi, Lawrence, Nova Iberia, Azuria and Overseas Territories (Nationalistische Goldvereinigung), commonly called the Nationalist Gold Union or simply NGU, is a nation located in the northeast and eastern subarctic regions of North America. It is bordered on the northeast by the Socialist gold union, on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the south by Worris. Nationalist Gold Union has an estimated population of 74 million. The Nationalist Gold Union comprises of five provinces and is governed by a federal republic led by Chancellor Leonard Roberts.
The Nationalist Gold Union was formed by a large group of political rebels and protesters who wanted their opinions voiced and their rights demonstrated. Originally, it was just the Gold Union, which was led by Socialists. During the Gold Union Civil War, the Nationalist party took arms, fought the government, and seceded. Eventually, they won and declared their independence in 1964.
The name Nationalist Gold Union originates from the union it seceded from, the Gold Union. The Gold Union was originally called Hochblüte, which means "Golden Age" in German. The name derived from the massive amount of valuable materials imbued within the earth, specifically gold. However, as it grew, Hochblüte was divided into ten provinces. The country agreed that it was more than a simple mining state and developed a full constitution and set of laws. It renamed itself to the Gold Union. Eventually, when the Nationalists separated, they named the nation the Nationalist Gold Union.
The traditional way to refer to a citizen of the Nationalist Gold Union is "Hochblüteer," as the denonym stuck even after the Gold Union was formed. However, in foreign affairs, the denonym used is generally Nationalist or NGUnionist (pronounced "en-joonunist").
The Nationalist Gold Union was a nation that split of from the Gold Union. Originally, in 1746, a large section of the eastern North American coast rich with gold was discovered and colonzied by the Prussian Kingdom. The Prussians named the land Hochblüte. To the south of the the Prussian-claimed laid some land claimed by the British Empire. To deal with internal affairs, the British government sold their land to Prussia. By the 1800s, Germany owned half of the east coast of America.
Around 1827, several English colonists, who remained in Hochblüte following the British sale, started rioting in response to Prussia's constant neglect of the colonies. In response, Prussia appointed ten Provinzfürsten and one Kolonialer König to oversee the ten colonial provinces of Hochblüte. The first Kolonialer König was Hans Grosser, who helped return stability to Hochblüte. However, the Provinzfürsten appointed by Prussia proved to be oppressive and totalitarian, setting high taxes and overly regulating the markets of the colonies. The English population were very upset with the Prussian rule and began a full-scale revolt. To appease the English population, Kolonialer König Hans Grosser had every Provinzfürsten killed and assumed total control and granted the English the same equal rights as the Prussians. Around 1833, most of the gold in Hochblüte had been mined up and spent, causing Prussia to lose interest in the area all together. By 1840, they removed all military personnel and by 1842, the entirety of the Prussian administration had abandoned the colonies, leaving all colonists behind under the rule of the Kolonialer König.
Frustrated that they were set aside, the German and the British colonists both worked together to establish a union of the ten colonies left behind. To keep the former namesake, they called it the Gold Union (Gold-Vereinigung). They allowed the popular King Grosser a position as a constitutional monarch. By 1850, the Gold Union Senate was established and they elected a Chancellor to govern the nation. King Grosser I died in 1851. His son, Hans Grosser II, was given the throne on 1853. Grosser II was even more popular than his father. He expanded the Gold Union to the northwest and launched an expedition to the North Pole. Grosser II died in 1896. His son, Hans Grosser III, took the throne in 1899. King Grosser III opened the Senate to more multi-partisanship. In 1920, the Communist Party of the Gold Union took a majority in the Senate, despite a voter fraud scandal. The Communists forced Grosser III to abdicated and replaced the position of king with an all-powerful Overseer position.
The most controversial Overseer of the Gold Union, Conall Corcoran, was a devout communist and believed that the whole country should be put into one class. Many people had disagreed with Corcoran's ideas and therefore protested. In 1949, the Gold Union Senate passed the very controversial "Bourgeois Suppression Act" and "Class Elimination Act". The first act, the "Bourgeoisie Suppression Act," had given authorization to revolutionary citizens to suppress and harass all non-revolutionary citizens. Many supporters of this branch of communism known as "Corcoranism" had busted down doors of "bourgeoisie" citizens and businesses and looted, destroyed, or ruined their property. The second act, the "Class Elimination Act," finally enacted the idea of economic equality. Wages and salaries were completely mandated by the government, with all citizens making a gross yearly income of 18,450 credits and a net yearly income of 2,500 credits after taxes. Non-Corcoranist citizens were extremely upset with the passing of these two acts. The majority of the upset citizens believed that these government-mandated economics were "ruining the few remaining fibers of greatness the nation had left."
Early Rebellion and Separatist Movements
Eventually, in 1952, a rag-tag band of nationalist rebels got together using weapons and mercenaries provided by the neighboring nation, Worris. Worris supplied the rebels with a means to win the war, but expected compensation with money and alliances in the future. The rebels, using guns and bombs from Worris, attacked the Gold Union's military bases and eventually they declared five of the National provinces for themselves.
The Gold Union responded to this small rebellion by enforcing more laws and regulations. The Gold Union was criticized as "the most authoritarian nation in the world" by many other nations. They retaliated by hunting down leaders of the Nationalist Rebellion and publicly executing them. One of the leaders killed was General Calvin L. Macias of the Rebellion, who used to be a prominent soldier in the Gold Union Army. Before being publicly decapitated, Macias shouted to the crowds the words that would inspire them to take to the fight.
"Citizens of the Gold Union, you are oppressed and pushed down daily. The Corcoranist dictatorship we have running wants you to be their slaves," said Macias as he was being pushed onto the headsman's block. "We must stay vigilant. There is a chance for freedom! Take arms against your oppressors! Supra omnes!" Shortly after, Macias's head was removed by a Gold Unionist executioner.
The words of "Supra omnes" had rung in the heads of the citizens that witnessed that execution that day. Those words would go on to become the motto of the Nationalist Gold Union.
Nationalist Rebellion advances
After that day, many citizens were convinced to join into the rebellion. A large insurgency occurred in Halifax on April 4th, 1953, resulting in the full capture of the city and province of Nova Scotia. Morale had soared after that day, and more rebel insurgencies had occurred across the map. On August 23rd, 1953, the rebels had moved onto Niagara and captured Toronto from the Gold Union. Additionally they declared the entire province as their own. In January of 1954, the rebels continued pushing into several other provinces and capturing them for their own.
The Gold Union had mainly relied on the revolutionaries that enforced the "Bourgeoisie Suppression Act" to win the Civil War. However, the patriotic message of the rebels had turned the vast majority of the revolutionaries. The Gold Union was running out of options and started a draft for all men between age 16 and 35. The draft had completely failed, however, as most of the citizens on the southern side of the Gold Union had chosen to join the rebellion before the draft had arrived. However, almost all of the men on the north had been put into the military.
The Nationalist Rebellion pushed forwards for months. On June 21st, 1955, the rebels seized and declared large amounts of towns in Quebec as their own. At the time, the Nationalists had "owned" three provinces. On December 24th, 1955, on Christmas Eve, the Nationalist rebellion led a suicide mission into Boston. After six fast hours of combat and destruction, the majority of the Gold Unionist force in Boston was decimated. According to an eyewitness at the battle, half of the Gold Unionist soldiers had changed sides halfway through the battle. The city of Boston was taken and the Nationalist flag was raised above it.
The Nationalists had taken most of the largest provinces of the Gold Union at this point. The province of Keystone was completely isolated from the rest of the occupied lands of the Gold Union. The Nationalists saw this as a perfect opportunity and attacked the provincial government outposts. Roughly thirty government buildings were attacked and burned, and the Corcoranist officials inside were killed. However, the Gold Unionist force in Capsia responded harshly. A garrison of roughly 50,000 soldiers spread across Keystone to attack and destroy the rebellion. This game of cat and mouse ended very badly for the rebels and resulted in half of the force being slaughtered.
Many nations across the world had noticed what was happening and sent aid for both sides. Rutthenia, Worris, and Noxtrem had sent funds and supplies to the Nationalist rebellion to aide them in winning the war. The Gold Union, however, rarely received any help. The Nationalist rebels were trained by various generals across the globe in warfare, and eventually they mustered a larger fighting force than before.
After four grueling years of training, working and strategizing, the Nationalists prepared for another attack on Keystone. Gold Unionist defense had bolstered greatly during the lack of combat between 1955 and 1959. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers were recruited into the Gold Union Army. The soldiers were spread across the province of Keystone. While the rebellion was preparing a siege on Caspia, the Gold Unionists to the north started building a wall to block away the rebels.
A long and tall wall was built to separate the uncaptured Gold Union on the north and the captured Nationalist territories to the south. The wall was built along Chisasibi, Scheffer, Quebec and Lawrence. The Gold Union completely took responsibility of the wall to prevent the Nationalists from advancing into the north.
The Nationalists, by 1962, had complete control of the south of the nation besides Caspia. The Gold Union, however, was having immense difficulty maintaining it's power in the south. The Gold Union had officially gone into martial law, being that the Senate was disconnected from the remaining Gold Union lands. What the Gold Union thought would tighten their grasp on the land would only let what they had left slip from between their fingers.
Chairman Conall Corcoran IV of the Gold Union proved to be an ineffective dictator, with one Gold Union general quoting, "He yelled at us and complained like a baby. The Corcoran that was acting as a dictator was nothing like the Corcoran that bravely fought for equality and socialism!"
Corcoran IV was behind numerous defeats in the two years he was Chairman of the Gold Union. In 1963, the Nationalist rebels attacked a prominent military base outside of Caspia. Millions of credits worth of damage were done to the dwindling Gold Union army, and Corcoran IV responded with an inadequate move. The Nationalists had seized the aircrafts at the base and prepared to use them on the Gold Union. Corcoran IV ordered every battleship in the Gold Union Navy to sit idly outside the harbor of Caspia. This decision cost thousands of lives, and the Nationalists bombed most of the battleships with their newly taken aircrafts and seized the rest.
Nationalists attacking Caspia Air Base
The Gold Union was running out of power. On January 19th, 1964, Corcoran IV surrendered Caspia to the Nationalists under the terms that they sent all the Socialist senators residing there up north, they stopped attacking Gold Union bases, and that they leave the Gold Union alone forever. The Nationalists were delighted, and declared January 19th as "Independence Day." It was the first official holiday of the future Nationalist Gold Union.
Shortly after January 19th, 1964, the Gold Union was divided into two countries, the Nationalist Gold Union and the Gold Union. However, two years later the Gold Union renamed itself to the Socialist gold union to further seperate itself from the Nationalist Gold Union. The Nationalists had begun work on rebuilding infrastructure and cities in their newly founded nation.
In 1964, Marsch der Freiheit was declared the national march. The march sent a powerful surge of national pride within the citizens of the newly established Nationalist Gold Union, and was the most popular song for the next few years afterwards.
On June 16th, 1964, in Caspia, Nationalist Commander Johnson Godfrey was sworn in by the Senate as the first official Overseer of the Nationalist Gold Union. The nationalists never reinstated the position of König, as they could not come in contact with the heirs of Grosser III. The Overseer role was to hold supreme executive power until it was abolished in 2016.
The Senate had begun reforming itself and more elected officials were sent to represent their provinces. Several new political parties were established but few actually got seats. The most prominent party, the Conservative National Party, got a hefty representation in Senate as most of the new citizens at the time were nationalists.
WIP
Over the course of it's lifetime, the Nationalist Gold Union has only had one flag. Its flag consists of five stripes; two medium white stripes (one on the top, one on the bottom), one centered large heraldic blue stripe in the middle with five white stars centered in the stripe, and two smaller golden stripes above and below the blue one. The white represents the purity and unity of the nation. The two separated gold stripes show that the Gold Union split into two by the efforts of the Nationalist rebels in the 60's. The color gold is symbolic of the original purpose of the Gold Union -- a gold mining colony. The blue stripe represents the valor, strength and willpower of the nation and the binding force of patriotism, keeping together the whole flag. The five stars represent the five provinces of the Nationalist Gold Union.

The Nationalist Gold Union is located in the northeast of North America, on the coast. The climate is very cold in the winter and moderate in the summer. The area used to have a plentiful and beautiful wildlife, however industrialization and agriculture started to hurt the environment very badly.
The majority of the population is of mixed German and British descent. 39% of the population of the Nationalist Gold Union is primarily British and 34% of the population is primarily German, while the rest are the native Americans (mostly from the Iramadian tribe) and immigrants from the rest of the world.
Even though a large population of the country is German, the majority of the Nationalist Gold Union speak English. English is the official language and is taught at schools predominately. However, schools additionally teach German and other languages like Spanish and French.
Religion is sparse in the Nationalist Gold Union. Only about 49% of the population actively practices religious beliefs, while the remaining 51% are agnostic or gnostic atheists. 30% of the nation is Protestant, 15% are Catholic, 1% are Jewish and 3% follow other religious beliefs.
The government system is a federal republic with a Senate and a National Council led by a Chancellor. The Senate votes on legislation regarding issues in the Nationalist Gold Union. The Senate comprises of a number of seats proportional with the provincial populations in the First Governmental Capitol in Caspia. The National Council comprises of 35 seats.
■ Conservative National Party
The Conservative National Party was founded back in 1941 by Johnson Godfrey, who at the time was a senator in the Gold Union Senate before the nation split in two. Godfrey's opinions were often pushed down and ignored by the majority Corcoranist Workers Party at the time, and eventually it caused him and his followers to revolt. The Conservative National Party is currently the most prevalent political party in the Nationalist Gold Union. Members of the CNP are civic nationalists and staunchly fiscally and socially conservative.■ Labor Party
The Labor Party was founded back in 1942 by Senator Matherson Hindburg, a famous social democrat who opposed Godfrey and Corcoran's ideas. The party's main values are that of social democracy and equality. The Labor Party is socially centrist and fiscally left, although they accept a system of capitalism where the government intervenes to ensure equality.■ Classic Liberal Party
The Classic Liberal Party was founded back in 1941 by Senator James von Braun. Von Braun was a very large enemy of Godfrey and therefore decided to create his own party instead of joining the CNP. The CLP is far-right and fiscally conservative, while still socially tolerant and supports less government.■ Crimson Dawn Party
The Crimson Dawn Party, also referred to as the CDP, is an alt-right party founded by General Ralph McConnell in 1971. After the civil war, General McConnell became a politician and founded the party to express his extremely right wing ideas. As the Atlantic War wages on, the CDP has gained lots of traction as more and more people believe it's critical to crack down on all immigrants and foreigners.■ Green Party
The Green Party, also known as the GP, was formed in 1993 to protest environmental deregulation. The GP supports government protection of the environment, more business regulation, and better programs to keep nature and the health of the people in top priority.■ Communist Party NGU
The Communist Party NGU (CPNGU) is the LP's more extreme counterpart, believing in complete people's ownership of industry and extremely high tax rates. The CPNGU was founded back in 1991 by a group of extremist senators who simply didn't enjoy the moderateness of the LP.■ Militia Party
The Militia Party, also known as the MP, is a conservative group that was founded by a group of patriots in 2016, after the terror attack in the capital city of Caspia. They believe in gun rights, isolationism, standing your ground, and defending your country. They are a heavily right wing group, and believe in independence and smaller governments.■ People's Revolutionary Party
The People's Revolutionary Party, also known as the PRP, is the smallest party in the entire senate. Although they share their name with the rebellion group known as the People's Revolution, the PRP denies any involvement with them. The PRP consists of anarcho-communist who believe in the disbanding of the government and private property.
Foreign Relations and Military
The Nationalist Gold Union stands very significantly in the grand scheme of the world, and it has a lot of influence in APSIA. Also, it does have a mighty military in order to enforce it's policies and protect it's people. The civil police is known as the NGUCP (Nationalist Gold Union Civil Protection). It enforces law and justice within the country. In addition, there is the NGUND (Nationalist Gold Union National Defense), which is the nation's military. Every citizen must serve at least 2 years in one of these groups as part of the law. Although the militaries ignore the outside world as a concern, they do have very advanced weaponry and technology. The Nationalist Gold Union puts a hefty amount of it's government expenditure into defensive weaponry and armour, and in return has high-tech equipment.

Caspia Stock Exchange
The Nationalist economy operates under a mainly free market system. Citizens are generally allowed to buy whatever they please and businesses are allowed to freely operate and function without too much government regulation. Although not many regulations are in place, worker satisfaction is one of the highest in the world. Most employees are happy to have their job and therefore work harder at it.
The Nationalist Gold Union is the home of the Caspia Stock Exchange, one of the largest trade and investment centers in the world. Most of the businesses that are in the CSE, however, are abandoning the exchange for the Hanover International Stock Exchange as they consider the CSE "as shell of its former self." The CSE is still thriving however, and many multinationals are part of it and are thriving economically.
The strong industries of the private sector mainly comprise of arms manufacturing and agriculture. Other strong industries include mining, retail, and energy.
Foreign imports are heavily regulated, with heavy tariffs and protectionism in place to protect the national businesses. Multinational corporations are frowned upon within the Nationalist Gold Union, and are generally strictly regulated and taxed.

The culture of the Nationalist Gold Union mainly comprises of British, German and Native North American customs and traditions. With strict immigration policies in place, Nationalist culture hasn't changed very much in it's lifetime. Many foreign observers have criticized the Nationalist culture of being uninclusive and hostile, but research shows that immigrants to the NGU assimilate to the culture very easily.
Food
Popular Nationalist cuisine derives from the British Isles and Germany. Some popular staple foods within the Union are pork, beans, poultry, beef, fish, potatoes, bread, and sausage. Hot drinks such as tea and coffee are very popular as well. Cuisine is an important part of the culture of the Nationalist Gold Union, as food is cheap and accessible to the majority of the population. Because of this, new meals and dishes are created and innovated on frequently.
Sports
Concern for sports in the NGU is minimal, with it's market size being minimal. The Nationalist Gold Union has few international teams and has never won any Olympic Medals. The national sport is lacrosse, with basketball, soccer, rugby, American football, and tennis as other popular sports.
Nationalist Gold Union infrastructure mainly comprises of privately owned services. The nation operates on roughly one million miles of roads, with the majority of which being privately owned and maintained. Personal transportation is the biggest and most popular means of moving about, and the majority of personal transportation comprises of automobiles. However, air travel has become cheaper and more citizens are gaining access to private aircrafts such as helicopters and jets.
Public transport is limited to busses and some subways. Usually, public subways are installed within key areas in cities but the rest of the subways are privately owned. Other privately owned metro and subway systems are maintained between provinces, making fast inter-provincial transportation possible and affordable.
Most air travel is privately owned but regulated to prevent disaster. The largest airport in the Nationalist Gold Union is the Outer Caspia International, which spans as one of the largest airports in the world.
Like many other first-world nations, the Nationalist Gold Union uses plenty of energy per person. Roughly 45% of the Nationalist Gold Union's energy comes from natural gas, which the land is plentiful in. This gas is forbidden to be mined and is extracted in efficient and eco-friendly means. Global costs of petroleum have skyrocketed, making green means of energy more popular and cost-efficient.
