Migrating to and Post-Migration in Africa

The ancient tribes that made up the Realm originally inhabited the 10000 Islands, a vast series of Islands to the North East within the Indian Ocean. These ancestors immigrated to Madagascar sometime in the 1400s.
Upon landing on Madagascar, the Realmlings stumbled upon an ancient city, today the Ancient City of Goliest, where the foundations for the countries modern religion were discovered.

Native tribes (of what we now know to be descendants of the inhabitants of the ancient city,) littered the island. However contact between the natives and the Realmlings was often hostile. Land disputes were a large sparking point for conflict, and the Realm made almost no attempt at diplomacy, instead securing the majority of the North side of the island through conquest. This was further exaggerated due to the ancient practice of tooth collecting, which involved Realm tribes killing natives in order to use their teeth as currency (more info^1). This may explain why many of the islands natives instead inhabit the territory within modern day Zeo.

Eventually the Ancient City grew, the nation expanding into the entirety of the North side of Madagascar by the late 1500s. Multiple coastal cities were established, such as Aventus, which thrived due to the abundance of fish and other goods present in the North Eastern reefs. These coastal cities eventually became trading hubs, pumping resources into the capital.

By the 1800s the Realm had attempted to expand further south, however the natives, now significantly denser in population, put up much more of a resistance. Thus any land that was occupied had frequent unrest. By the late 1800s French colonists had arrived on the South of the island. This lead to a trade agreement with the Realm, in which the French colony was given ownership over the native occupied territories. Not only did this result in the Realm being largely free of native uprisings, but a significant profit was also made on unused land.
The relationship between the Realm and France however did not progress very far, largely due to a strong difference in political ideologies, but also due to secretive nature of the Realm at the time, due to the furtherment of Avernism.
However Madagascar would go through a large change as a result of a war in Europe during the 1910s. France ended up losing their Madagascan colony to the Japanese. This proved to benefit the Realm as the political ideology of Japan aligned well with its own. Thus began a good relation ship with the now Japanese southern colony.

On September 6th 1943 the Japanese colony became independent, forming the nation of Zeo. A positive relationship continues to prosper between Zeo and the Realm.

National Currency

by Realm of abbadon

The national currency of the Realm is the tooth. This comes in silver small(worth 1 tooth) silver large(worth 5 teeth) and gold (worth 50 teeth). The tooth has been kept the same for over 1000 years. It was first used within the tribes of the Realm, tribesman would gather the teeth of their foes, often rival tribes, and use them currency. This practice, called tooth collecting, was outlawed in 1678 in the attempt to quell conflicts between Realmlings and the Malagasy natives.
