Hey Blue Ridgers!

I'm Supurior, your First Minister, and I would like to say that this past month has been a success!

I say this because, in my first month in office, our population has risen by 33 nations! This may not seem like a whole lot, but trust me, it is. For comparison, the last 3 month period our population fell by 69 nations, so an improvement is very exciting. We also got our new cabinet in the beginning of this month and we established a new Supreme Court to decide constitutionality and interpret law. Blue Ridge also celebrated its first Liberation Day last Saturday.

Looking forward, we still have two months left in this term, and I am looking to keep growing our region further. Additionally, we are currently building December and January Culture Calendars, as well as adding to infrastructure with our new Bot, Pferd. Our cabinet is also looking for new staffers, so if anyone's interested, let me know.

I plan on continuing to serve Blue Ridge and to better our region to its fullest extent.

Within our Role-play, many exciting changes have occurred! For starters, we have developed a higher standard for the rp here and thus higher quality posting without sacrificing the fun nature that we began with! To do this we fleshed out rules, kept tech within IRL limits, and explained any questions and all of our reasoning. Alongside this the map has been continuously updated and improved, with updates regularly.

Constant land expansion based on dice-rolls have been done away with! Now should a player choose to invade an NPC, they must have a mod team member RP as that NPC nation, adding a new challenge to those looking to become conquerors, and keeps others at bay so the RP does not stagnate into only a couple nations dominating the roleplay.

Most exciting of all has been the regular increase of new role players and posts! From new potential conflicts to changing geopolitical situations, we are proud of the increasingly live world we, and the community of roleplayers, have begun to foster.

However, not all is done! We still have great plans such as NPC events and crises, and weather events! We hope this will continue to incentivize people to engage in a living breathing world.

Lastly, I personally would like to thank the community of Blue Ridge in its entirety, beyond the roleplaying community. Your cultural efforts of a kind, and inclusive place to be makes it a joy for me to be here, and help with such a fun and engaging role play, while getting along with everyone!

Previously, Blue Ridge’s judicial system was in the hands of the Executive Council, and lacked a clear structure. The establishment of the highest court sends a clear message; a message for the people of Blue Ridge, letting them know that disputes will be settled fairly, rights interpreted consistently and institutions held accountable.

After discussion, the decision to create the Supreme Court was met with overwhelming 2/3rds support, both for amending the Basic Law to allow such an institution and creating the Supreme Court and its structure. The new court (called the Supreme Court of Blue Ridge) currently consists of two judges who were recently nominated by the Executive Council and confirmed by the Town Meeting with a majority of at least three-fifths of the votes, with the ability to grow as needed.

Key upcoming reforms include the introduction of a new Judicial Code of Conduct to ensure ethical standards among justices, as well as plans to modernize and standardize court procedures.

Welcome to International Incidents! Here we'll cover ongoings in Blue Ridge's diplomatic partners as well as offer some insights on other events that might affect Blue Ridge in general. Dates are indicated in brackets at the end of each entry.

Embassy Ongoings:

1. Liberlandia completes an operation to bash the fascist region 'The New Fascist Society' with Blue Ridge. [11/3]

2. The Augustin Alliance (AA) departs the Sovereign Seven, a NatSov General Assembly voting bloc. [11/3]

3. New West Conifer, after a period of inactivity on NationStates, has moved to a Discord-based community. They will be keeping their region open as an embassy hub and nation storage for anyone willing. [11/5]

4. Talonia and Vibonia agree to a détente after a period of rough relations, peaking in April 2025. The statement reaffirms a mutual desire for growth and friendship between both regions. [11/5]

5. Empress Marinas Island of the New Pacific Order (The Pacific) announces the appointment of her successor, longtime regent Pasybfic/Syberis. This coincides with the appointment of Flame of Dio to the regency to succeed Syberis. [11/12]

6. [RP] Kieran McRayne is elected President of the Kodiak Republic after a tight election. [11/13]

7. Staidear, Community Manager of Declansburg, is commended by SC#565 after efforts made by then-Prime Minister New Bradfordsburg. [11/19]

8. Efforts to commend New-United Common Lands, a long time member of The Region That Has No Big Banks, are began with a draft proposal published by The Democratic Disney States. [11/23]

9. The East Pacific (TEP) concludes an operation to capture the region 'Yuno', the home region of traitorous former Delegate Yuno, with Liberlandia. TEP Delegate A mean old man publishes an address commending the invasion force while briefly explaining Yuno's history in TEP and the the damage done under their leadership. [11/24]

10. Korbalis, the three-year "Forever DPM", was elected Prime Minister of Declansburg. She announced intent to maintain successful programs from past Prime Ministers while making new connections. [11/25]

11. Liberlandia celebrates its second birthday with VCs, community events, and speeches from residents both young and old. [11/27]

12. First Citizen Domais of Lazarus posts a Thanksgiving Address telling of the plights of Lazarene Pilgrims as they established their society. [11/27]

13. The Region That Has No Big Banks begins its 2025 Winter Olympics. [11/29]

14. The Univeristy of Aesica, an educational institution centered in Aesica, publishes an essay on the NationStates Summer Slump. [11/29]

The Bigmouth Buffalo is a unique fish found in North America, most commonly along the Mississippi River Basin. It prefers large rivers, and is known by researchers for its incredibly fine gill rakers. It evolved a very specialized anatomy that allows it to strain plankton from water, similar to whales. Puzzlingly to researchers, they have the longest lifespans of any freshwater-boned fish. Record-holding organisms have been professionally aged more than 100 years, and some estimates even reaching over 125. Although it was historically rejected as a sucker fish (known as a trash fish, like carp), modern research finds it to be a natural competitor to invasive species and vital to control plankton, being the only native North American sucker fish that filter feeds on it.
