The Human Guard
The Human Guard is the human arm of The Citadel's military force. It is composed of two main branches for the present: the Army and the Air Force. As Atlanta is still landlocked, there is no need yet for a proper navy. The Army consists of seven hundred thousand troops, in fourteen corps, which are then organized into two armies of five corps each, plus the four additional corps. These troops are entirely human, of course. An overwhelming majority of these, six hundred ten thousand, are male, with ninety thousand women also serving in the army. The standard battlefield infantry weapons include: an M-16 infantry automatic assault rifle, a Glock 9mm automatic pistol, a field knife, three hand grenades, two smoke grenades, two fragmentation grenades, one white phosphorus grenade, and two rifle grenades. Any additional personal weaponry has to be approved by the Quartermaster's Corps and/or by the personnel's commanding officer. The Army also possesses some one hundred fifty main battle tanks, four hundred light tanks, six hundred fifty infantry fighting vehicles, and eight hundred armored personnel carriers. It also includes some six thousand, four hundred thirty artillery pieces, including among this some twenty-five hundred ten self-propelled artillery. They also include Cobra, Black Hawk, and Apache attack/recon helicopters, not counting many medevac type helicopters.
The Air Force consists of one hundred twenty-five thousand airmen, in six total aviation wings composed of two squadrons each. The major military aircraft include four hundred F-16s, three hundred F-15s, and three hundred more A-10 Warthogs. Ninety thousand of the personnel are men, the rest being women, of course. Air bases are mainly in Fulton, Gwinnett, Fayette, and De Kalb counties.
