The Bordeaux Exile War, sometimes referred to as the Bordeaux war or Principal War, was a war lasting from 2046-2048 that took place in what was Handle Bordeaux. The war was started after Kostbin declared Handle Bordeaux as a fascist nation, one which it felt it needed to declare war one. The war was the last of a series of wars, known as the Kostbin Imperial Wars that took place during 2020-2048, and would cause the expansion of Kostbin across Europe. The war would start with the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Blitz, which took place from the start of the war to early 2047. The blitz would end after Concord Haven joined the war and started to help retaliating. The idea was not to win, though, but to save time for evacuation, which in the end this plan would work, causing the Bordeaux Exile War to end.

Name

The Bordeaux Exile War was first known as the Bordeaux war. The first newspaper to name it the Bordeaux war, the Iqaluit Print, was the first to really name the war at all. This would cause most newspapers to catch on and call it that, as it was the obvious name at the time. The nation Kostbin newspaper, The Globalist, would name it the War of Liberation. Out of fear, most Kostbin newspapers would follow the national paper. After Concord Haven joined the war in 2047, some Concordian and international newspapers would start calling it Principal War, as they saw it as a pivotal war that helped end The Blight. They also saw that the war would be extremely important, as it was supposedly the last Kostbin Imperial War. Depending on who won, it would shape Western Europe and the entire world. The war would also be called by its modern name, the Bordeaux Exile War, by several independent newspapers, as Concord Haven started relocating Bordeaux citizens to their nation as Handle Bordeaux collapsed. Once the war ended and the Bordeaux Exile saw truth, most international newspapers would start to call it that, and it easily caught on, becoming the common name.

Background

Main article

The world before the Bordeaux exile war was still being affected by The Blight. Decentralization affected the world heavily, with most nations just now establishing more firm control. Europe was still plagued by revolutions and anarchy, and the only governments that were able to stay stable were those who held a firm control over their people. This led to the rise of authoritarian states, communist, fascist, nationalist, etc. One of these states was the Republic of Kostbin, a technocracy that began in Lorraine, or the lowlands of what was Belgium. Kostbin expanded during the Kostbin Imperial Wars, a series of wars of which Kostbin took part, expanding by conquering smaller nations. During these conflicts, Kostbin was able to swiftly defeat their enemies and take over their government. This led to the territory and region which was once known as France to be mainly controlled by Kostbin. The only government that was still in the way was Bordeaux, a relatively powerful and democratic nation located in southwestern France. Concord Haven, a nation that would join the war later to back Bordeaux, was supporting underground revolutionary groups as well as democratic coups at the time. Their most successful coup was in the nation of Marm, where they were able to overthrow the authoritarian government. Concord Haven was also supplying Bordeaux and was a great ally to them.
