Vote AGAINST Obesity Awareness
Official Recommendation of the Ministry of WA Affairs
Vote AGAINST Obesity Awareness - Here
Category: HealthArea of Effect: HealthcareAuthor: Saint Asperes
Rationale & Analysis
“Obesity Awareness” is a fundamentally misguided proposal, largely unbacked by the available science, and fundamentally serves to promote a reactionary perspective on public health. This is, however, far from its only flaws; not every species obtains diabetes, obtains diabetes in the same way, or has the same dietary requirements. As it is, this proposal has no exclusions for those species to avoid the incredibly human-centric clause 1c, which requires nations to work to reduce certain nutrients, a catastrophic idea for any species that require those nutrients. Secondly; it’s overly performative and restrictive at the same time with clause 2. The clause urges nations to create awareness campaigns and, of course, we have no problem with this, but for whatever inconceivable reason, the writer tacked on “with notable figures.” Why not leave this to the member states - and god forbid a species have a hivemind! Finally; already existing legislature covers much of this resolution. GA #52 provides citizens with better access to affordable food, and GA #724 already addresses food labeling. As such, the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs has directed Kethania to vote AGAINST Obesity Awareness, and urges the Bloc's World Assembly nations to do the same. |
