QuickStart Guide to NationStates and the NWP

QuickStart Guide to NationStates and the NWP

Introduction

Brand new to NationStates, trying to figure it all out? This should give you a good idea of how to get involved and get immersed in NS.

1. Join the NationStates World Assembly and endorse the NEW WARSAW PACT's World Assembly Delegate.

Go to the World Assembly page and join the World Assembly (WA). The WA is an international organization, similar to real life international organizations, that passes international laws, restrictions, and other legislation. Being a part of the WA will help you get involved in the international community and significantly improve your NationStates experience. To join the WA, simply click the "Apply to Join" button at the top of the page, and check your email for an approval letter.

After you have joined the WA, remember to go to the NEW WARSAW PACT's WA Delegate, Damanucus' nation page, and give him your endorsement. Your endorsement will give our Delegate more votes in the WA, and therefore help the NWP be more influential on the world stage.

2. Join the NEW WARSAW PACT Regional Forum and apply for membership.

The NEW WARSAW PACT Regional Forum is where most of the NWP's business is conducted. To gain access to it and get involved you will need to apply for membership. To do so, you will have to fill out the LinkApplication for Membership. After you have submitted your application, you may want to start a new thread in the LinkMembership Application and Introductions section to introduce yourself.

NOTE: The forum system we use often does not like certain email providers. If you create a user profile and you never receive a verification email, send Nullarni or Wo'n Darshekeen a telegram and they will verify your account for you.

3. Get aquatinted with the NationStates Forums

Sure, answering issues, voting on WA Resolutions, and comparing rankings is fun, but the vast majority of the fun of NationStates takes place on the NSForums. Take a look around. Get involved in a debate. This is just the first step in becoming a hardcore NS'r.

4. Explore the NEW WARSAW PACT Forums

By the time you have gotten the chance to look around the NSForums your NWP membership application should have been reviewed and approved, giving you full access to the NWP Forum. The NWP Forum, while rather new, still has plenty of ways to participate. Join in an RP, or start a conversation in LinkThe Lounge.

5. Claim a spot on the NWP Regional Map

Once you have figured your way around the NWP Forum, you should make your way over to Linkthe Map of the NEW WARSAW PACT, and chose a place for your nation. Post a reply stating what part of the map you want using the grid coordinates and a basic description and we will mark your spot. The squiggly white lines are province borders. Try to provide a grid address, too. For example, "I'd like about ten to four provinces in the area east of Kievistan (A-B11)" or "the isthmus next to Narwhalia (D4-E4)." If you already have a map, just ask and maybe our Cartographer, Wo'n Darshekeen, will be able to add it to the map.

6. Get Involved with the NWP Regional Government

The NEW WARSAW PACT has recently reformed the government, and we need participation.

To get involved you can post a request to join the NWP Senate Linkhere. Once you get the endorsement of two sitting Senators you will be allowed to join in on submitting, debating, and voting on regional law.

You may also like to become one of our Diplomats and help with foreign relations. If this sound like something you would enjoy, just contact our Minister of Foreign Affairs,Lowell Leber, (AROLL,). He will tell you how you can best help him.

If you would like to help participate in creating regional activities or help other new nations feel more welcome contact our Minister of Retention, Kholdlands and ask him what you can contribute.

Also, we hold elections for government positions regularly. If you would like to run for office, keep you eyes on the forums for an announcement. But remember: you have to be a sitting Senator to run for office. It may also be a good idea to read over Linkthe NEW WARSAW PACT Regional Charter to get an understanding of how the system works.

7. Start fleshing out the details of your nation.

In a game revolving around nations, the more realistic your nation the more fun you will have. Look at the factbooks of other nations, (found on their nation page,) for ideas, like Nullarni's or Wo'n Darshekeen's. You can also look at the Wikipedia articles of Real Life nations to get yourself started. Once you have something put together you may want to post it for everyone to see. I recommend either LinkNSWiki, the "Factbooks and National Information" section of the NS Forums, or under the "factbook" tab of your nation page. you can find a wonderful guide for formatting your factbook here.

8. Get involved in... other aspects of NationStates.

NationStates is not just about answering issues, politics, and RolePlaying; there is a darker side. On NS there are rogue bands that steal regions and deface region pages. The only thing standing between these groups and their potential victims are the various Defender groups on NS. If you want to help those who are unable to protect themselves and have a lot of fun while doing it, you should join one of these groups.
