Poldanz-Rumeria Overview (WIP)

Introduction:

Poldanz-Rumeria, official the Kingdom of Poldanz-Rumeria, is a soverign union of 2 kingdoms within Violatia. The Nation sits in a region in-between North and South Euralia, having a small coastline along the Boreal Sea. With a population of 45 Million as of 1910, the nation has most of its population along the coast, with 50% of the population within a 30 mile radius of the coastline as of 1910. Mainly due to the bustling cities of Krazburg,Buchlek, and Warsak. Outside of the coastal regions resides mostly vast farmland and small villages. Unlike most nations, the union has 3 capitals, Krazburg where the Monarch of Poldanz resides, and Buchlek of where the Monarch of Rumeria resides, and Warsak where the parliament and most of the government resides.

His Majesty, King Casmir II of Poldanz represents the interests of Poldanz and its people.

His Greatness, King Micheal VI of Rumeria represents the interests of Rumeria and its people.

His Honorable, Prime Minister Ludwig Protski and his parliament represent the greatest interests of the entire and nation, him and his parliament make sure neither kingdom has more power than the other. The Prime Minster is the great connector of the two kingdoms.

The nation is known for being conservative and nationalist nation, many have great pride for their union and kingdom. The nation is also known for a very large religious community. People are taught to be very prideful of their country.

The nation is apart of The World Assembly but is looking for more cooperation withing Violatia.

History:

The first signs of Poldanzic and Rumerian people in the area begin in 780BC. Shown by ruins of small villages and farms. In 15AD King Huzzar I declared the Kingdom of Poldanz. In 21AD King Micheal I declared the Kingdom of Rumeria, close to the Kingdom of Poldanz. Immediately the nations became very friendly, and commonly traded with each other, until 250AD with the War of the Hills. King Kroskin II of Rumeria claimed tarratories inhabited by Poldanzin people. King Joseph I of Poldanz declared war after Rumerian troops entered the area.After 6 months of stalemate a ceasfire was agreed apon, during the ceasefire King Kroskin II died and his son Kraskin III succeeded him. His first order was to renouce his kingdoms claim of the Poldanzic land. After about a decade usual trade and friendship returned.

In 958AD King Ludwig I of Poldanz married Queen Jadwiga I of Rumeria, uniting the Kingdoms together. It was decided the kingdoms would stay united together permanently. The kingdom would have 2 monarchs, 1 for each said of the kingdom. After the unification, the new nation began to prosper and become a major contender for the area.

In 1146 Warlak Khan of the Krazic Khanate invaded the kingdom. The war was a bloody war causing 2 million deaths for the union in total. But in 1156, after a decade of war, King Ludwig III of Poldanz and King Micheal II of Rumeria won the Battle of the Ridge, killing Warlak Khan, and ending the war. The entire khanate was annexed, but split between the 2 nations within the kingdom.

In 1899 millions of workers went of strike against the government, and threatened revolution if their demands were not met: create a parliament, legalize workers unions, loosen the monarchy's powers, create free elections, create a minimum wage, and create better labor laws. Fearing revolution, Both Kings agreed with all of the demands. A new parliament was made, elections were created for seats of power, workers unions were legalized, a minimum wage was created, and new labor laws were created. All of this was declared in the First Constitution of the nation. At first the workers were happy, but them a problem arise. There was no Prime minister, there was a parliament, but the main rulers were still the Monarchs. Soon in became clear that most of parliament would be controlled by the kings, effectively making it useless. Because of this, in 1900, the "October Revolution"began. Workers across the union arose up in anger. The war became the bloodiest war in the Unions history, killing 3 Million people. But by 1906 the revolution and the Monarchy came to an agreement, a new constitution would be written, a prime minister would be elected, and the monarchy gives up lots of its power.

In 1907 Poldanz-Rumeria joined the World Assembly, in an attempt to more connect with the outside world and stray from their solicitude history.

In the modern day people believe the union is more divided than every, Poldanz and Rumerian nationalists declare supremacy over the other. Krazkic nationalists demand more sovereignty or independence. And Conservative and Liberal faction are split more than ever. Some believe that a division or civil war may be eminent.
