PDW-75: You Did WHAT

So, with the recent acquisition of 10x SPR SMGs and a small local program already in progress to create a suitable PDW for the armed forces, the SPR would have filled the gap... If it weren't for the pitiful 9x19mm ammunition it uses. However, one thing was noted. The properties of the monstrous 7.5x35mm rounds used by the standard-issue Field Pistol could easily satisfy the need for armor penetration and rifle caliber energy down range while keeping a light weight and simplifying logistics.

The SPR was toyed with, taken apart, and examined. Then from that, an entirely new SMG was built up from the general design concept and configuration, adapted to take the heavier round.

Rocking around with a high ROF (~800 RPM per field trials) and a high magazine capacity (45 round stick, 100 round drum) the PDW-75 is effectively a crossbreed of the Field Pistol and the reliable, effective SPR.

Of course, it's rather compact, using a 152mm barrel much like the Field Pistol it is derived from, with a high cyclic rate and a basic safety. Adding to that, one can also use the specially made suppressor which doubles as a barrel extension (adding another 160mm of barrel to the gun) while also helping to muffle the weapon, removing muzzle flash as well.

Obviously, the sights were taken from the Field Pistol itself... Not that it was worth the effort to reinvent the wheel with a new set of irons. Alas, one can also remove the sights and tack on a rail to mount other optic devices. Not that you'd need to.

Given the useful properties of the 7.5x35mm round employed along with its rather unique, heavy-hitting nature, this weapon can be used to great effect in lieu of a carbine. It will be deployed effectively immediately, working alongside the Field Pistol in the average infantry's kit, along with replacing the Field Pistol in pilot survival kits.

Alas, we should thank Japania for their small sacrifice in making this happen, of course. Between Gonswanza and Japania, the KTO shall benefit from this fruitful little experiment.
