The main reason why humans chose to colonize the gas giant is widely unknown. First records of people being in the Neptune system dates back to the year 2027, when the first group of people from Earth arrived to colonize the system. But, because of Neptune not having a solid surface for civilization, they instead built floating cities that sit in its upper atmosphere, in which they call it the “Life Zone”.

Neptune’s floating cities vary in size, most of them hold a population of around 5-7 million. The largest city in Neptune is the capital New Athens, which has a population of 20 million. They have tons of repulsorlift engines to keep the cities afloat.

The capital of the NMA is a massive space station orbiting the gas giant Neptune. Construction started on it in the year 2051 and was finished in 2075. It holds a population of 20 million and has its own artificial atmosphere and gravity similar to Earth’s. It has 5 arms stretching from a ring like structure at the end of the station. Each of the five arms are called Wards. On the surface of the wards are densely populated cities with millions of people that are similar to Earth’s cities of Singapore and Hong Kong. The ring that’s located at the far end of the station, named the Presidium, where the elite of the Neptunians reside. Located within the Presidium there’s a tower that sticks out of inner part of the Presidium named the New Athens Tower. Within the tower is where the NCSN resides and its government bodies as well.

The NMA is a militaristic state led by the former commander of the Presidential Guard, Konstantina Sotiropoulou, who took power in a coup d'état in 2365. The National Council for the Safeguard of Neptune, or more commonly known as the NCSN, is the current ruling military junta of the NMA. The NCSN is headed by the President, who holds absolute authority over the nation.

The nation is divided into 10 states, which are New Athens, Olympus, Neptune City, Poseidon, Ocean, Wind, Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western.
