[sidebar]An Announcement from First Minister Pajonia
Comrades, I am pleased to announce that our most recent treaties, The Collectivist Comrades Pact with the Pacific and the Treaty of Solidarity with Thaecia have officially been ratified in all respective regions. You can see our votes and read the treaties here.

The last few months have been fantastic for The Communist Bloc. We have nearly doubled in population, more than doubled the endorsements on our delegate, have rebooted our regional military with fantastic success, and have entered into new relationships that have shown to be beneficial to all parties. Executive elections will be opening in a week from now, and it my hope that the next government can continue this success. I will be writing an End of Term Address in the coming days and handing out awards to the many comrades that have helped contribute during this term.

I have not yet decided on whether I am going to run for a third term as First Minister. I have been First Minister for 6 months now, and we have seen massive success during that time. Other Ministers that have done amazing work the last few terms are not going to be running again, and I feel some sort of obligation to run again and try to ensure that all of the work we have all put in over the few terms continues. On the other hand, I have been First Minister for 6 months and am also an Admin of our Discord and Forums, and both of these jobs come with a lot of responsibility. I also have a lot of responsibilities in real life, and the upcoming semester in school will be a tough one for me. I will have to decide if I can handle being First Minister for another 3 months. If someone that I believe is competent enough decides to throw their hat in the ring for First Minister, I may just let them have it. If not, I will run again.

Regardless of whether I continue to serve as your First Minister, I am incredibly proud of the work our region has collectively put in over the last few months, whether you have done manual recruitment, written something for the news, created artwork for the region, or anything else, thank you for your hard work and support. This is a silly little browser game, but the community we have built here brings me joy, and I hope to see it prosper far into the future.

I probably should've saved all this for the End of Term Address, huh?

[box]Chatting with Comrades Over Coffee

I want to get to know our comrades better, and I like coffee. Please don't sue me, Mr. Seinfeld.
We're only a few days away from the beginning of the standing period for the executive elections, and I wanted to do a special edition of Chatting With Comrades Over Coffee with all the current Ministers.

Coffee: yea or nay?
Ant: I wish I liked coffee because it smells very good but every time I have tried it I've never liked it. It's always too strong for me. Too bitter or too sweet If yes, what's your favourite way to take your coffee?

Karl: Nay

Wasc: Neutral

Iota: yeas i do enjoy the occasional fun coffee drink when i'm not having ice water

Sam: Always and forever. Hence why I ask this question lol

Syplhy: yes
If yes, how do you take it? If no, what's your favourite drink?
Ant: My favorite drink is water, my beloved. I also like tea and juice.

Karl: Hot drink? Hot chocolate. Cold drink? Iced Chocolate, Coke and Raspberry or tropical juice, depends on the mood. Alcohol wise, apple crumble cider or a fruity cocktail.

Wasc: *favorite Most of the time I just drink water tbh, I guess I occasionally have tea? But beyond that not much.

Iota: squints at google. according 2 this it's the frozen chocolate cold brew from panera

Sam: I like to joke I'm an oat milk evangelist, so usually a latte with oat milk

Syplhy: idk i just mix it with the coffee blend, i like lots of coffee
What office position do you hold right now?
Ant: First Minister

Karl: Minister of [strike]Absent[/strike] Culture

Wasc: Minister of domestic affairs

Iota: tcb's very own minister of foreign affairs !

Sam: Minister of Information

Syplhy: Ministry of World Assembly Affairs and Legislative Committee Member
How many terms have you served in this position?
Ant: I have served two terms.

Karl: Too many, though in all seriousness I think it's six now, five consecutively and one now. I needed a break and I wasn't planning on running for this term but I was peer pressured lmao.

Wasc: 2, and thankfully that will not be 3

Iota: working on one as of now, but i'd like to make it many more.

Sam: About to finish my 2nd

Syplhy: 2 terms from Jan-Feb 2021 to July 2021, and another term from Oct-Nov 2021 to today (so 1-3+ terms?)
What's your favourite part of the job?
Ant: Getting to dip my fingers into the whole pie. I do a little bit of everything, and I'm not tied down to just doing one thing.

Karl: Hanging out with people, setting up competitions that people enjoy and seeing the positive feedback in the form if participation. As well as working with other regions.

Wasc: *favorite again
The strange telegrams people send in response to recruitment and region wides, some of my favorites have been the gorilla dude that sent me this
"equality love no good bad bad bad

gorilla good
that bad
banana good
you bad”
And the dude that once sent me the poem “Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College BY THOMAS GRAY

Trolling right-wingers is fun as well

Iota: i'm a fan of ridicuous online drama, and any kind of high-up foreign affairs role on nationstates is a ticket to a front row seat for some of the dumbest online drama you'll ever see. i still take the job seriously, though--i'm pretty good at talking to people, and i like handling situations that some people might find stressful so the rest of our members can just focus on havin a good time playing the game. watching people argue about sht that absolutely does not matter is just a bonus.

Sam: I think it's cool that my job is so forward-facing. Even if all you do is answer questions and read the RMB, you probably see what the MoI is up to. Plus I get to keep people in the loop on what's going on across NS.

Syplhy: i don’t know, probably none! Xd but most likely in analyzing a resolution, and finding loopholes and telling it to people (as a duty), but it is too long, bothersome and cumbersome
And your least favourite?
Ant: Ironically the same thing. It's a double edged sword. I do a little bit of everything, and it can be a lot to keep up with lol

Karl: At first it was having my co-minister Viz to bounce ideas off of, he was why our first 3 terms were so successful. However as the bigger competitions failed to get participation and my life starting to get busy again when I got a job, it was tough to love the job with such low participation.

Wasc: *favorite yet again The dispatch work that can come along with it and the slurs/death threats I get sent in telegrams sometime

Iota: writing treaties. i love making friends for tcb, but my brain doesn't handle legalese well. i propose that, for tcb's next era of foreign affairs, all treaties are replaced by spitting and shaking on it. or a pinky promise, if you want health-conscious accomodations.

Sam: It's sometimes a lot of work keeping up with stuff outside of the Bloc. I like adding international news, but digging through different regions' Discords for news is sometimes hard. There's a reason the news isn't always daily.

Syplhy: probably all (xd) but probably making a voting thread in the tcb forums (because the formatting in markdown is too wonky) and spanking everyone to vote! (no one)
Do you plan on running again in the coming election?
Ant: See my recent RMB post :p (Editor's Note: You can also read this above and to the right.) I have not yet decided. I'll have to do some soul searching and decide on it in the next few days.

Karl: I don't really want to but I feel that I will be haha.

Wasc: God no, I’ve suffered enough.

Iota: absolutely, i'll go until i stop finding it fulfilling.

Sam: Highly unlikely. If you are interested in running, I'd be happy to talk about it with you and answer questions

Syplhy: idk, probably. No one would run other than me
Do you have any advice for the next Minister (be it yourself or someone else) on how to do their job or avoid any mistakes you made?
Ant: Listen to people. Listen to your fellow Ministers, and let them have autonomy to do what they want. Listen to citizens and see what they want out of the region. Also, just don't stress so much. It's a silly browser game and it's not so serious.

Karl: Don't wait on the forum move, just do whatever you want to do here and now. If we do move forums this term then that's just a pleasant bonus.

Wasc: Uh don’t let the shtty things you’ll get affect you, if you’re starting to burn out don’t be afraid to take a break or ask for help, try to have fun with the job. Oh and don’t forget to send even a single stamp telegram for 3 months in a row ;)

Iota: pleased to announce that i haven't made any real mistakes so far! which is great, because "not shtting the ministerial bed" was one of my campaign goals. simply put, my advice for people who are just getting into foreign affairs is to stay proactive, stay organized, and stay aware.

Sam: Staying on top of stuff (especially adding new laws and treaties to the archive) is the easiest way to keep it from being overwhelming. It's a lot easier to knock it out that day/week than let it pile up then have to do 3-4.

Syplhy: it would depend if the reform in the LegCom goes through and the process would be different, but advice would be to understand things and to contribute to the region even if little or little by little over time
Instead of a 10Q this time, I'm going to make a playlist of all the ministers' top 5 favourite songs, so what are yours?
Ant: This is quite possibly hardest question you can ask me lmao, my favorite songs change all the time. I guess I will just go with whatever comes to mind first that I consistently listen to lol (Editor's Note: they added 6 more here lol) Shoot, that's more than 5 lol. Pick and choose your favorites I guess lmao i wanted to add like 12 more. Scar Tissue - Red Hot Chili Peppers; Good Riddance - Green Day; C.R.E.A.M - Wu-Tang Clan; N.Y. State of Mind - Nas; So What - Miles Davis

Karl: My top songs are always in flux but at the moment... Hand me my Shovel, I'm going in - Will Wood and the Tapewoms; Old Gods - Shined; Peach - Chevelle; I can't cope - The Leers; Troubleman - Electric Guest

Wasc: Ok why did you spell it right this time. (Editor's Note: I was not consistent in how I spelled favorite/favourite when I sent this.) Anyways I have a hard time coming up with favorites a lot of the time, especially when it comes to music, but some songs I like and have been listening to recently are “Song of choice” (crazy arm version); Hannes wader’s version of “das einheitsfrontlied”; “Rye whiskey” by the pirates charles; David rovic’s “if I had a hammer”; And Jello Biafra and Mojo Nixon version of “Love me,I'm a liberal”

Iota: i don't have an Overall List, so i just shuffled my spotify a few times instead. all star by smash mouth; salad days by mac demarco; dude looks like a lady by aerosmith; bee kind to the bugs by culture abuse; i'm free by the soup dragons/junior reid

Sam: This is so hard. Why did I ask this?? Against Pollution - the Mountain Goats; She's An Angel - They Might Be Giants; I Know the End - Phoebe Bridgers; Surrender - Chris Farren; Sun in an Empty Room - The Weakerthans

Syplhy: Machikado Mazoku – Machikado; Tangent – shami momo; Demondice/Calliope Mori – Fake Type cover; Bang Dream – Poppin’ Party – Initial (イニシャル); Soul’s Refrain (魂のルフラン) – Roselia cover; Rewrite - Philosophyz

Thank you everyone for humouring me with this, and thank you for a great term!

If you are reading this and are interested in running for an executive position, please reach out to me ([nation]The Passerine Islands[/nation]), and I can send you more information or answer questions.
