Nothing to see here people
And as you might be able to tell here, I'm fielding a campaign for the vacant seat in the House of Commons!
To keep this short and sweet for this snap election, let's jump right into my experience in the region o/
I have served as;
Member of Parliament : 7/11/2021 - 9/11/2021
Electoral Commissioner : 9/3/2020 - 4/18/2021
Assistant Electoral Commissioner : 7/15/2020 - 9/3/2020
Home Affairs Minister : 4/5/2021 - 7/11/2021
Secretary of Defence | Tagus : 9/30/2021 - 11/10/2021
Alongside where you might have seen me serve, what have I done legislatively?
Co-authored L.R. 049 The Electoral Commission Act (2021)
Now that you have a brief overview of what I have done in Thaecia, what are my plans, why should you vote for me?
Seeing as this is a snap election to an abbreviated term, I have one primary goal to achieve or at the very least, get the ball rolling down its hill~
Citizenship Reform - This is something that has long plagued Thaecia since our foray in the exciting world of R/D and military gameplay, with the whole confusion around citizenship, what defines it, how does that mesh with the constant switches of World Assembly membership characteristic of the practice? To that end, with my experience in my time as the Minister in Charge of Domestic Affairs & Electoral Commissioner, I have drafted two potential strands to reform our citizenship, centralizing our citizenship process away from a plethora of laws and court rulings, one that I had started discussing with the ICH administration and another more recent. In the spirit of increasing the visibility and involvement of as many people and newcomers as possible in this law, I will be posting these drafts for all to see either later or tomorrow, regardless of what the election may bring.
Other stances and ideas I would like to explore in this term~
Executive vis-a-vis the Legislature - Supporting, yet still regulating, the executive branch by looking at the draft concept from Peeps to create another region for confirmations & oversight on the executive by the legislature,
Legislative Involvement in Military Affairs - I am of the viewpoint that the legislature should have as minimal involvement in military affairs as possible, and am tentatively supportive of reforms that broach the chamber, however I strongly oppose any attempts by the legislature to hem in the military to a specific line of thinking without letting these discussions take place and debated,
RP/RL Laws - This is a topic I have been rather ambivalent about, on the one hand I am always in favor of increasing our participation with exciting topics, but this is a government-simulator game at its core, and attempts to overlap these realities between the region and private communication sites as our Discord server are something I disapprove. That is to say, while I wouldn't be opposed to seeing such legislation crop up, I'd be hard pressed to support them,
Citizens Legislature - Against an all-citizens legislature, the presence of an elected, competitive dual legislative chamber has been the hallmark of our region, although of course, issues have risen up in the past, this structure works and provides for exciting political interactions, there is no need to be like other regions, as long as we provide ample opportunities to bring up newcomers with including them in legislation drafting or even getting them up to speak on the chamber floors or discord threads on what they believe,
Myself - And as pledged in my last campaign, I fully intend to be active in legislative business, bar any unexpected obligations or in mid-December when I have exams~
Thank you for your time to look over my platform and hope to see you vote and participate in these exciting times for both Thaecia and Nationstates as a whole!
Hope to see you around, maybe even in the Thaempirial Army for some operations here
