Presidential Executive Order 9

Presidential Executive Order 9
TWI's Response to Plagiarism
October 25th,2021
Enacted by Aizcona

The Western Isles as a region prides itself on the contributions its members have made to this website in producing high quality dispatches, factbooks and role-play. At many points, members have made templates freely available for use or otherwise shown grace to those who plagiarize. Plagiarism is an issue that continues to plague our region to the point where it is necessary to introduce new measures. This has become especially apparent in recent times and until now the region has not had a cohesive response from the government to this issue. As such, this order has been introduced to address that problem:

This order mandates;
1. That Plagiarism will not be tolerated by TWI.

2. Where a TWI member suspects that they have been plagiarized by someone who is not from this region, they should notify the President of The Western Isles who will deal with the matter on your behalf. The TWI member may also contact the person themself, but it is strongly encouraged that the President is involved in any discussions surrounding plagiarism.

3. Where a TWI member suspects that they have been plagiarized by someone who is from The Western Isles they should notify the President of The Western Isles who will deal with the matter on their behalf.

4. Where someone who is not a TWI member suspects that they have been plagiarised by someone who is from The Western Isles, they should directly contact the President of The Western Isles who will deal with the matter for you. The President will also keep you informed as to the progress of your request. Where a person engages a member of TWI directly about plagiarism, they are strongly encouraged to include the President in these discussions.

5. The proper procedure for taking inspiration from a nation or to use their factbook as a template is to telegram them first and then seek the consent of the true creator. If they do not consent, you have plagiarised that person. If they do consent, you should credit them. If at any time they request the factbook be taken down, refusing to do so will be considered plagiarism.
TWI members who plagiarise frequently will be subject to punishments of increasing severity, including an ejection and ban where necessary or appropriate.

Signed,
The Estral Republic of Aizcona, President of TWI
