A Disappointing Trial and Conduct? Murmurs against Lady Chancellor
Written by Jacob Winds von Les, our correspondent for Confederation Matters

Vocryae - As the sun shuttered as clouds past by, a trial was commenced on Saturday, 9/10/2021. Commenced by the Lady Chancellor, Dame Anastasia Clarke HCF, the trial aimed to discern whether the actions of the former Director of Defense - The Hon. Sir Andrew Hazelwood II HCS HCIL - during the events of the so-called ‘Rostica’ dispute. This dispute surrounded the island of Alkonost that was under the control of the New oceasia, this island was majorly irrelevant for the several past years despite its geographic significance. Laying in the very centre the gulf in which Golden impirial utopia’s (GIU) trade depended on to reach the outer world. For several years this island was irrelevant due to the GIU’s participation within the Omsk Treaty Organisation (OTO). However due to growing distance among the Oligarchs of the OTO regarding ideologies, this organisation would eventually dissolve and leave in its wake the Triumvirate and the Levastok Pact (LP). Due to international pressure and the event of a coup, the GIU found itself aligning with states far from Noskyavia, namely the Stockholm Accord. These circumstances would force the GIU to try and secure for itself trade routes in which they can utilise to reach the outside world. According to several sources, there were backchannel negotiations by the Government of GIU and their surrounding states, however these negotiations fell through and resulted in the the GIU issuing a territorial claim upon the island along with the forceful seizure of an unnamed island chain on their western coast. This claim was disputed by the government of New Oceasia along with backing of the LP. The Federal Republic of Daulmark would initiate a naval blockade following the forceful seizure. The Government of GIU launched a counter campaign in an attempt to garner legitimacy for their claim to the island. Tensions further escalated as the government of GIU soon launched a freedom of navigation exercise near the island, sparking fears of armed conflict between New Oceasia and GIU before both sides backed down. Backchannel negotiations began again and a deal was struck, however this detente was quickly cut short as the CDF was deployed under the orders of Hon. Sir Hazelwood. This deployment of CDF troops soon led to intervention, causing outrage by various nations as an abuse of power and led to many states redrawing their support of the GIU. This outrage led to the Ministry of Home Affairs to call for a Inquistional Hearing (#37081021) in order to ascertain the guilt of Sir Hazelwood for “Unnecessarily deploying the Confederation Defence Forces and so purposefully raising international tensions.” and “Abusing powers [sic] formerly granted to you by the Government Act 2020.”

The trial was overseen by the Lady Chancellor herself, with Emily Clearwater of the Ministry of Home Affairs acting as the plaintiff. Sir Hazelwood was represented by Gregorio De Marco of The Restored First Republic of Ridnez. According to court records and witness testimony, the trial dragged on and on until the Shadow Cult interrupted and adjourned the session, and following up with Direktorate Order 13. Several have noted that the Shadow Cult - possibly the High-Direktor or His Majesty - being upset with the proceedings were deemed “shambolic”. Despite the fact the matter regarding the disputed island chains has been resolved, the questions regarding the Lady Chancellor have just begun. The Imperial Times had journalists dispatched to interview several attendees of the trial via various Linklegal, Linknon-disruptive, and appropriate means. Through this anonymous poll, it can be ascertained that many states were relieved of the intervention which stopped things from escalating further than needed. However, many noted that they still thought Sir Hazelwood as guilty of acting irresponsibly; additionally they noted the lackluster and almost tedious nature of the trial. Several have noted the redundancy of having a court within a dictatorship and called it unneeded. Additionally, the highest praise levied onto the trail was reportedly that the trial was “adequate”, and the lowest insult so far was the trial was as a mockery of professionalism and the reputation of the Confederation; it should be noted that this answer may be skewed due to the fact half of the respondents didn't actually pay attention to the trial, with one reasoning "[We] know the outcome, [We] don't need a whole [Expletive Deleted] trial". These negative opinions have been exacerbated with the fact there was a possible conflict of interest, notably due to the fact that the presiding judge and plaintiff came from the same Ministry. This has caused murmurs of unprofessionalism by the Lady Chancellor among the more rebellious parts of the Senate, but have so far not resulted in anything significant. Many hold the opinion of that this trial could have been done with more professionalism rather than being as the mess of a trial that was created by the Lady Chancellor’s actions. These opinions seem to be reflected by the top brass of the Confederation, as evident by Direktorate Order 13. It is uncertain if further actions may be taken by said brass for this disappointing performance, but nothing is ever certain within the Confederation with their backroom backstabbings.

Stylus Sworn In As Acting-Kaisarin; Announces Plans Despite Scrutiny
Written by Incentia Cognita, our correspondent for Imperial Matters

MineLegotian Canterlot - With the current Acting-Kaisar comatose, Commonwealth and Political leaders have moved to sworn in Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stylus Pen, as Acting-Kaisarin. The move was backed by notably Governor Eye I of The Royal Protectorate of Mleocun, stating that the Empire needed stability, and the fastest replacement that could be had for the comatose ‘Papermonger’ was his own wife. The move was quickly approved by an emergency session of the National Parliament which had been gathering for a session regarding the relations between Crystal City and Canterlot. In a stunning 83 - 17 percent majority, Stylus Pen was accepted and soon sworn in as Acting-Kaisarin amidst a recovering Ministry of Administrative Affairs, with additional troops have been deployed for security across the Premier City of the Empire. Several have warned against the apparent centralisation of power that this move would set precedent for, with Her Highness Stylus Pen being the Acting-Minister of Administrative Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Imperial Regent at the same time. Several prominent libertarian figures have criticized the move as a move to centralise power and to prepare a dictatorship. Several commentators have also noted the severe irony of a former Anarchist ascending to the highest office in the land. Her Highness has stated that she has no intentions of establishing a dictatorship, and intends to maintain a status quo that is less vulnerable to insurrection attempts from the elite like what had recently occurred during the October Insurrection, and has ordered for the several Imperial Task Forces to secure the city and its surrounding locations. Additionally, Her Highness has stated that she intends to improve the autonomy of various states during the time she has.

Her Highness has also stated that she intends to ensure that the Imperial Family knows their place, which is under the Kaisar and those that he has instated to rule in his stead. It has been noted by inside sources within the Ministries that several officers have been dispatched to place several close to the insurrectionists, Shield Tai IV Kartogrefi-Yang Akan and Silken II Pennings-Liviness, under house arrest while the Domestic Intelligence Services launch an inquiry into their involvement with the attempted coup. It is unknown if Her Highness intends on arresting them in an act of vengeance for gravely harming her husband, with many commentators suggesting she is not so above the autocrats she spoke against not so long ago. Additional scrutiny has fallen upon the First Meeting attendees that is custom for all new rulers to have and lay out their agendas for their reign. Commentators have noted the absence of corporate sponsors, and an abundance of civilian organisers, unions leaders, Commonwealth leadership, and several members of the military in attendance. Several party leaders have begun to fear that the rumours regarding Her Highness’ sympathies towards the Left as true, and that Her Highness may abuse her powers to allow them immense favours in domestic politics. Most recently, Her Highness has stated that she aims to continue her husband’s policies following the First Meeting. In her first press conference, Her Highness stated her aim to continue the Imperial Regent’s plans with as much vigor as possible to equate with her husband’s diligence and dedication to the Empire and its causes.

Several Commonwealth Parliaments have issued decrees of support, as within political circles many regard Her Highness as a known Federalist - a proponent of the 21st Century movement to properly Federalise the Empire - and would help overturn several unfavourable and reimplement laws that had prevented the Federalist agenda from being achieved. One such law is the now repealed 12/05/2298/252/098 - “Freedom to Choose for various Topics for the nations of the Commonwealth”. This piece of legislation was repealed following the election of 2357 ALB in which Conservative parties won a massive majority in parliament. Many Commonwealth proponents have tried their best to reinstate this law with little to no success. However with the ascent of Her Highness Stylus Pen, many have begun predicting this future age as “The Left Ascent”, deducing from Her Highness history of leftist sympathies and policies. With several with so far calling her a communist agent that aims to tear down the millenia old institutions of the Empire. However as everyone knows, thats stupid. However, several have feared that she may not even be communist enough, with the far left parties calling her a traitor to the anarchist and leftist causes and have begun attracting an alliance to oppose Her Highness in future endeavours.

Despite these oppositions, Her Highness seems to have no indication of going back on her plans, causing several citizens to note that the Imperial Regent ‘must have taught her well’. This firm stance regarding her plans have caused general support to originate from within the more conservative and traditionalist family oriented political groups, including the NC to officially back the Acting-Kaisarin as they did with the Acting-Kaisar. Its safe to say that the Acting-Kaisarin will stay until her husband finally recovers.

MineLegotipony moves to attract investment with CCD Stock Market
Written by Essen I Kartogrefi, our correspondent for Investment Matters

New Manehatten - With the recent passing of IS Motion #36, the Zendirist Agenda has been moved forward with the implementation of the Confederate Stock Exchange Act 2021. The purpose of this act “ is to allow easier investment within the Confederation, with the aim of increasing the Confederation´s economic growth and capacity by bolstering the capacity of the firms of member nations”, and contains several provisions to ease trade of capital between Confederation member states. The Act was recently ratified two days ago, and the Department of Finance has already made moves and have implemented the Act within several dozen hours of it passing. It should be noted however, investments are only available through a single entity as in line with the Zendrist Ideology of the Act’s author.

Of interest to Commonwealth readers may be a move by the MineLegotiponyian Government to attract more capital into the maws of their Commonwealth Workshop. Several insider news sources have stated that the MineLegotiponyian Government aims to register Technological Sunrise Success Ltd. and Cherry's Integrity Telecoms Ltd. into the Confederation Stock Market in order to finance more growth within their territory. This move is in line with Prince-Consort and Senator Tailspin von Javehin’s economic and policy influence on the Princess-Colonial-Governor Octavia XXIII.

Technological Sunrise Success Ltd. (TSS) is a company specialising in manufacturing, with a revenue totalling ninety six billion last quarter. TSS is famous for winning several government procurement contracts for the production of a variety of products in the last year, this directly contributed to the rising stock prices of the company. This admirable and highly profitable portfolio is in stark contrast to Cherry’s Integrity Telecoms Ltd. (CIT), a newcomer to the telecommunications scene in the Commonwealth. However, despite their novelty CIT has made a reputation for themselves for being one of the most reliable companies with consistent and stable growth of 2.4% over the last six years. So far, as the CSM begins trading, CIT stocks have been bought out by Institute for Industrial Reconstruction (IIR) from The Restored First Republic of Ridnez. Additionally, It is expected that by joining the Confederation Stock Market, we can expect to see more growth from the two companies. It should also be noted that the JCIF (Joint Commonwealth Investment Fund) has also made moves, investing the foreign reserves of various nations into Confederation companies.

Several Economists have noted that MineLegotiponyian growth has recently stalled in comparison to the usual 3.6% growth declining into a more modest 2.4%, and suspect this move was in order to maintain the momentum gained from January's sudden growth.
