On the history of Gnosis Episteme

In the XXIIth Century, after the Second Unification War and the defeat of the Singularian Celestial Republic, the only remaining state following Unconditional Accelerationism, some citizens now under foreign occupation decided to put their hopes in a new world. Their goal was to settle in the Alpha Centauri system, and found there a state in which their ideology could prosper without opposition from the major powers of the time.

Their arrival in the system, in 2253 CE (12253 HE), is retrospectively considered the beginning of Gnosis Episteme's history. However, no such state existed by then - the only political organization was that of the various spaceships attempting to part on a stable orbit, and to make contact with each other. Each spaceship's community had its own projects and vision for the future, with very little interaction with each other.

The first common project, the space habitat Humanity, started construction in 2279, under the supervision of the Habitat Regulation Advisory Board. The latter, the first true organization, initially consisted of delegates nominated by each spaceship's leaders, and provided guidelines towards the construction of individual sections of the habitat. However, there was no united vision for the space habitat, leading to it being abandoned soon after.

While each community had to some extent reverted to its own ways, the Common Advisory Board - as it was now called - still held massive power. Its leadership had by then evolved into a sort of transnational aristocracy, commanding a massive wealth from which it spearheaded its own projects.

In 2314, the Advisory Board led to the creation of the Partnership for Knowledge and Progress. Having a strong influence on most of the communities, it worked on the unification of their research programs into a united plan.

Around one century later, the first colonists from the Sol System entered Alpha Centauri's orbital space. The latter became the theater of decades of conflict between natives and colonists, the latter having a noticeable technological edge. While the colonial powers played off the rivalities between the various communities, the influence of the Partnership and the Advisory Board dwindled.

This came to a violent end when several of the states under the Common Advisory Board suddenly left, leading to a military retaliation. With their main colonist allies embroiled in Shan's Rebellion - which had by then already devolved into a system-wide war -, the seceding states were swiftly occupied, and the Commonwealth of Knowledge was proclaimed by the Avisory Board in 2471. The latter became the governing body of the new state.

This state, quickly becoming on par with the colonists in terms of technology, successfully managed to push them back, defending most of Alpha Centauri's orbital space. While centuries of repressing rebellion, and a leadership mostly giving representation to powerful interests, have been criticized, the nation boasts a strong economy as well as a high level of scientific advancement, and is progressively liberalizing.
