Vote Against SC resolution Repeal: "Commend Northern Borland"

Security Council Vote Recommendation

Part of the Information for WA Voters program

Resolution at Vote: Repeal: "Commend Northern Borland"
Vote Recommendation: Against

Resolution Analysis
Overview
Repeal: "Commend Northern Borland" is a proposal to repeal the recently passed resolution to, you guessed it, commend Northern Borland. It argues that the high amount of inherently evil rankings warrant a condemnation and not a commendation, and that the satirical nature of the resolution makes a mockery of the World Assembly and tarnishes the honour of a commendation.

Recommendation
The arguments presented in this proposal fall flat. The assertion that Northern Borland should be condemned and condemned only is a fallacy, considering the precedent set by nations such as Wrapper, Australian rePublic and Chan Island, who were condemned for contributions to Issues and the GA, which could be interpreted as objectively commendable. On the flipside, Nuremgard was also commended for 'evil' actions, such as forgery and kidnapping. There is absolutely no need to stick to arbitrary, enforced standards for commendations and condemnations outside of GamePlay resolutions.

The resolution's other argument concerning the sarcastic language is an exceptionally poor argument. It is ridiculous to assert that Commend Northern Borland devalues the meaning and importance of all commendations, future and past, and that as a direct result of repealing the commendation, all other nations or regions with commendations will look much more important.

For these reasons, the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends a vote Against the Security Council proposal at-vote, 'Commend Northern Borland'.
