We're glad to have you here! You're probably aware of the basics of NationStates but just in case you're not, we've put together this About dispatch. Have fun and if you have any questions, please telegram the founder, WA delegate, or any of the regional officers for help.

About South America

The present day South America was (re)founded in 2013. However, its origins extend right back to the earliest days of NationStates. (Read more at history.) This is a region to appreciate, admire and even act out the history, culture, and politics of the real life South America.

Throughout its history, South America has been through many changes and evolutions – all creating a region with a unique culture and character. And it continues to change and evolve with each and every newcomer, so don't be afraid to dive right in and leave your mark on SA history!

Why South America?

South America isn't just for real life South Americans – we're open and welcoming to everyone who identifies with the region, its history and/or its culture. But why else?

• Independence — South America is neutral and doesn't align with raiders or defenders, so there's no danger that you'll set up home here and lose it to conflict.

• Liberty — South America has what is called a "free endorsement policy". In other words, WA members can endorse whoever they like. There are no caps or limits.

• Unity — Since its (re)founding in 2013, South America has been democratic. Decisions that effect South Americans are made by South Americans – now and always.

• Original — There might be other Latin American themed regions, but South America will always be the original!
