The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Thaecia has recently undertaken some reforms in how we conduct our FA. From now on, we will be distinguishing between on-site and off-site embassies. Off-site embassies will be known as Discord embassies, and they will hosted on our Foreign Affairs discord server, where regions will have a channel of their own to post whatever they please (within reasonable limitations). All on-site embassy regions will have discord embassies, but not vice versa.

This change means that we will be changing the process by which regions develop relationships with Thaecia, and will be forming a path, of sorts, to diplomatic ties. Regions should first seek a Discord embassy in the Foreign Affairs server, and after the appropriate period of time (however long that may be), we will consider whether or not we are interested in maintaining an on-site embassy region with a prospective new partner.

The reforms outlined above are done so hoping to herald in a new era of Thaecian Foreign Affairs. Since the start of my term as our Minister of Foreign Affairs, I have regularly sought to limit the number of on-site embassies we have, and it is hoped that these reforms will prevent Thaecia from building on-site embassies with inactive regions with whom we share no real tangible bond.

Over the next few days, the Ministry will be consulting the Thaecian populace on whether or not these changes will result in the closure of some of our on-site embassy regions in favour of Discord embassies. We will release further updates on this when the consultation has concluded.

Following the aforementioned public consultation, the Foreign Affairs Ministry has decided to press ahead with the plans outlined above. Due to the region not being wholly onboard with the reforms, we will not be closing as many on-site embassies as we once thought.

If your region has been selected for closure of on-site embassies, I wish to reassure you that this does not constitute Thaecia severing diplomatic ties with your region, nor that we value some regions more than others. We are adopting this new system to better & more honestly reflect our diplomatic relationships and this move is carried out with that goal in mind. Your region will retain an off-site discord embassy, which can be found in our Foreign Affairs Discord server linked above.
