Etymology

The origin of the name "Koshasch" is one which has been totally lost to time, and indeed the Koshasch themselves do not in totality subscribe to the name. As an application to their species, the name grew in popularity amidst trade circles, in which merchants have historically taken to the name Koshasch, perhaps due to one group of their kind having had bore the name and influence at one time, and spreading it before reaching the modern world.

Origin Mythos

It is unclear where the Koshasch may have originated from, let alone to hammer down a singular shared belief as to a sort of homeland. Many myths exist amongst them because of this, far too many to pin down to any one region. Some tell of being from the great steppes of Sakasia, others to the far east in Yugarkast, and more yet claim to come from regions far north or far south—lacking any clear and definitive place of beginning. A popular myth however, among some circles of Koshasch, is that they originated from a state long ago which reveled in wealth, hedonistic pleasures and wonderous prosperity. Such a myth is commonplace in a world built on the ruins of the ancients, and by no means do the Koshasch alone share such notions of former greatness now since diminished.

Biology

Physiology
The Koshach are a lithe, flexible species of humanoid mammals with remarkable similarity to humans; though with the addition of varying catlike features. Sprouting from their tailbone extends a tail, which bears feline characteristics and may also come in varying styles of thickness with fur, as well in varying colors. Matching the tail, there are a set of ears which sprout from the head of their kind, large and feline, with no sign of human ears to be found. The eyes of a Koshach are also a diverse thing, which variations existing which lean to one side more human, and another side more feline, with slits. Such variations help to distinguish how much of said Koshach has human ancestry, as their species is capable of cross breeding with those ancient successors. To match the variations the eyes display, between human and feline, Koshach also have unique feline adaptations with their hair and their hands. Varying spots of their bodies may grow fur, particularly on the forearms, lower back, and erogenous zone, at varying densities and textures—often corresponding again with the level of genetic sampling from other species. Their hands and feet may grow outward sharper nails, like claws, depending on the purity of Koshach blood running in the veins of an individual. Needless to say, this leaves the Koshach with a large marge of variations and breeds, based on levels of purity and mixing; something of which has been going on for quite some time.

Aside from these feline traits, Koshach are indeed relatively human. Aside from bodily adaptations to their feline parts, a level of enhanced hearing and sometimes seeing, they are most certainly equals to humans. They share in dietary needs and bodily healthy, with the added features of more things to care for such as their tails and ears. As such, they are among the host of Neo-Ancient species out there, and are one which is easily concealed amidst the host of the human race should they try.

Life Cycle
Koshach share a life cycle which is near identical to human beings. After nine months of pregnancy, a Koshach is born, to which they will spend much of the next two decades growing to complete maturity, but in a process which has many stages. Their pre-teens and teenage years are deeply formative, and around this time they physically develop more into adult forms, with many reaching a young-adult stage of this around the time they are eighteen. This process of growth ceases in their twenties, but is not the total conclusion of their growth. Much as how humans will continue to grow at varying parts of their body, the Koshach may also experience such things as they enter elder age, some growing larger or smaller ears, some shrinking in size as the years roll by, their tails and other fur changing and changing—thus reaching elder age is again a commonality with human beings. The sexual viability of a Koshach is the same as a human being, sharing in the same spans of time for fertility, and roughly the same range of years for age to render a Koshach sterile.

Diet
Much like humans, Koshach are omnivorous—but have a handful of adaptations which set them aside. Raw meats are something which the Koshach body can not only more easily process, but filter many of the lethal properties from with great ease. This often depends on the meat, and also depends on the quantity consumed. Large bulks of raw meat will sicken a Koshach, but smaller quantities, more than the average human can consume, will not render harm to the Koshach. Aside from this, they remain relatively similar in dietary needs.

Climate
With no clear Koshach homeland in existence, their species is one which is subject to no one climate zone or preference. From insufferable heat to unconquerable cold, the Koshach exist and thrive in accordance to their adapted conditions, sharing that with human beings as well. With such a vast range of climates which they can inhabit, the Koshach have adapted some physiological differences to better suit these climates. In cooler areas, their fur will tend to be denser, with a thickness which shields parts of their body from the colds which assault them. Likewise, on the other extreme end of the scale, Koshach in warm regions will find themselves with much thinner fur and more of a focus on cooling than on heating. Yet these climate adaptations go further, and influence Koshach most everywhere to be best adapted to that region, with varying fur variations. Naturally, they can not tolerate extremes on either end of the scale without protection, much as humans suffer from the same issue. As such, while these extra furs or perhaps reduced furs are of some help, they are by no means an environmental blessing which sets them at an unfair advantage over human beings.
