Tocan Isle (pronounced [tɔkɐn eslɛ] in Norican), officially The Republic of Tocan Isle, is a country located in the Calvera Ocean in SolarFlare. Tocan includes the entirety of the island Tocanesle, along with several surrounding islands including Rapinamc, Gesburmc, and Sooa Island. Tocan Isle is a federal constitutional presidential republic, with its capital in Tocan City. The largest city is Centsian, a coastal city on the northern part of the island. The nation is often nicknamed "The Isle of Green" for its lush rainforests.
Tocan Isle is famous for its rich diversity, beautiful scenery, and world-class environment. Because of this, Tocan Isle is a top tourist destination. Notable national policies include a ban on cars, aircraft, smoking tobacco, and gambling. Its economy is socialist, and provides strong standards of living for its citizens. Both Norican and Tokari are official languages, and many more minority languages are recognized by the government.
Tocan Isle has a tropical climate. Much of the island is covered in rainforest and mountains. Major rivers include River Èste, River Cènt, Malake River, Tocan River, and River Rūede. The tallest peak is Mount Buric in the Camberian Mountain Range.
Tocan Isle became an independent republic in 1963. The leader of Tocan Isle is the president, a position which is currently held by Emily Loren. In Tocan Isle, the president has less power than most presidential republics, with most of the power being held by the provincial governments and the Federal People's Assembly (Populáre Nacionaer Asémble in Norican), the federal unicameral legislature.
The Tocan government is highly decentralized, with the smallest form of government being the commune. The nation is separated into hundreds of municipal districts called communes. This is the most basic unit of society and the economy. Above the communal level is the provinces, which there are 11 of. The province is vital in political and economic decision making. Most economic planning is done at the provincial level.
Tocan Isle is a very ethnically and linguistically diverse nation. The most spoken language is Norican, with 55% of the population speaking it as a first language, and 86% able to speak it. Almost the entire population knows at least a little bit of Norican, except for a few very isolated Tokari communities. The second most spoken language is English, with 16% of Tocanians speaking it as a first language. 51% of Tocanians in total can speak English as either a first, second, or third language. 21% of the population speaks Tokari as a first language, and 46% of the population in total can speak Tokari, placing it in third place for the most spoken language. 8% of the population speaks a language other than Norican, English, or Tokari as a first language. 31% of Tocanians can speak all 3 of the main languages.
When it comes to religion, Tocan Isle is officially a secular state, with religion being strictly separated from the state. 46% of the population is irreligious, with Erelism being the most common religion after irreligion. The third most common religon is Irmenism, with Alguatism, Tokarenore, and Yrotism also having more than 5% of the population following them.
Ethnicity-wise, 54% of Tocan Isle identifies as Mijeni, meaning "mixed" in Tokari. Mijeni people have both Norican and Tokari ancestry, and typically follow a uniquely Tocanian mix of the two cultures. The second most common ethnicity is White Norican. These people are of Norican descent, have lighter skin, and follow Norican culture. Another large portion of the population identifies as Tokari, meaning they are of Tokari descent and generally follow traditional Tokari culture. Other common ethnicities include Celestian, Utopian, Sierrese, and Soran.
The economy of Tocan Isle is socialist, meaning the workers own the means of production. It has many components of a command economy but nonessential services are handled by the free market. All basic services such as healthcare, education, public transportation, etc. are owned by the provincial governments and occasionally the federal government, as well as other services. The economy is very decentralized, with little central bureaucracy.
Tocan Isle’s leading industries are information technology, tourism, coffee, clay mining, and renewable energy production. Its main exports are coffee, computer parts, bicycles, tea, and clay. Tocan Isle frequently trades with Celestial Wave, Erynia and Draconia, GruffyRichard and Hillbillybob, Anatoliyanskiy, Sierra Grand, and The Age of Utopia.

All foreign affairs in Tocan Isle are managed by the Tocan Isle Department of Foreign Affairs. The Republic of Tocan Isle is a member of SolarFlare and serves as the region's Vice-Delegate. Tocan Isle has a firmly pacifistic stance on foreign affairs. It strikes the balance between upholding national sovereignty and cooperating with like-minded nations to maintain peace and prosperity. As the nation has a history of struggling with imperialism, it is typically averse to entering organizations that, in its view, prioritize large, privileged nations and the international bourgeoisie. Tocan Isle is not a member of the World Assembly, and generally holds an anti-WA view.
