Jenovachi Federative Republic

Jenovah, colloquially the Jenovachi Junta or simply the "Sunset Coast," otherwise formally known as the Jenovachi Federative Republic (JFR), is, nominally, a federation and a representative democracy with three separate branches of government, including a multi-party unicameral legislature in the form of a General Council consisting of elected officials (senators) from every province in the country, with Montendría as the designated capital and largest city. It currently borders zero nation-states. Although Jenovah asserts itself as a beacon of democracy fighting valorously against a force of tyranny, it's de facto administered by a clique of high-ranking pre-collapse corporatist politicians with national elections being a mostly ceremonial practice and the curtailing of constitutional civil liberties being commonplace as a "preventative measure" against extensive terrorist and criminal activities ongoing within the boundaries of the JFR.

In May of 2020, ten atomic bombs were detonated in almost every key major city in Jenovah in an event known as the Twenty Minutes' War which led to the collapse of the entire government and economy after a week of post-war hysteria. The Jenovachi National Guard (JNA), in association with other branches of the military, seized control of the nation, establishing a short-lived military dictatorship meant to streamline emergency elections to decide a new head of state. June 2020 saw the election (overseen by the JNA) of the conservative Partido Unión candidate Gustavo Esperanza of Montendría by four electoral votes, having lost the popular vote to both his opponent and a third-party candidate part of a new fringe party known as the Trabajadores de Jénobra, ushering a period of political dominance from the unaffected western portion of the nation. In Avellaneda, violent protests broke out after spiraling unemployment and suppression of the media during the election pushed the populace past the limit, forcing the city into indefinite martial law. In Strallé, tens of thousands were dying daily from starvation, disease and war after the city center was decimated, prompting a plethora of refugees to leave to every corner of the nation and destabilizing the entire north with the rapid shift. Jenovah had lost grip. The JNA and the Comisión de Seguridad del Estado (Jenovah's secret police organization) began efforts to collaborate, effectively seizing control of the state once more to "fix the issue." It was unanimously decided on December 24th, 2020 by a historic vote that the House of Assembly was to be dismissed permanently, leaving the General Council as the only house of legislature in parliament and crippling the effective powers of one of the branches of government. Efforts to consolidate authority into the Esperanza Administration would be carried out with the apprehension and exile of all twelve Supreme Court justices on grounds of treason and the appointment of judges loyal to the Partido Unión to replace them; an act which angered many opposition parties, sparking unrest. The Federal Government enacted the censorship of "unwanted anti-government material" in order to slow the looming crisis, seeing the constitution violated more than dozen times in a single month with sweeping reforms which militarized the nation's police, suspended the right to privacy, freedom of the press and built the brick foundations to a mass surveillance state via the advertising apparatus established by internet/social media companies to harvest data about consumers.
