Resolution at vote: Repeal "Wartime Journalism Protection Act"
Forum voting thread: https://forums.europeians.com/index.php?threads/ga-repeal-%E2%80%9Cwartime-journalism-protection-act%E2%80%9D.10052263/
Vote recommendation: AGAINST
protections for journalists in warzones. Specifically, this proposal
argues that nations in violation of international law may then lawfully
deny protections to journalists, citing active military efforts. The
Ministry of World Assembly Affairs find this logic to be flawed at the
foundation, as a non-compliant nation willfully breaking some
international laws (i.e. using chemical weaponry) would have little
reason to follow other international laws. Furthermore, this proposal
suggests not defining "weapon" is an issue, which the Ministry considers
pedantic at best. The Ministry of World Assembly Affairs therefore
recommends a vote AGAINST this resolution.
