The Campaign Of The Kyun Empire In Neo Kerala

The Kyun Empire Of Northern Awell islands, after the subjection of Eastern Gangas, Pala (nearly), Eastern Chola, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kamarpura, Panga, Sumatra and South Bana in 1023 AD lokked to their next campaign. A small island by the name of Neo Kerala. They sent the now famous message addressed to the 'ruler of a small country' and advised the Neo Kerala sovereign to pay him tribute at once—or else.

The Kyun emissaries returned from Neo Kerala without an answer. After that, the Neo Keralaite navy would not even allow them to the emissaries enter the island of Neo Kerala. In 1026 AD, Kyun The Terrifying defeated the Pala Kingdom (nearly) and declared himself the first emperor of Bengal's Ananya Dynasty. The great Rajahs of the Kyun Empire did not tolerate impudence from their neighbors, and Kyun was quick to demand a strike against Neo Kerala as early as 1028. However, his counselors advised him to bide his time until a proper armada of warships could be built—1000 to 1500 vessels, which would be commissioned from the southern Awell islandser and Eastern Indusseian Shipyards, and an army of some 50,000 men. Against this mighty force, Neo Kerala could only muster 20,000 men, most which were from squabbling Families. Neo Kerala's forces were extremely outmatched.

From the port of Namkavili (future Namkavi Port Region in Kaveli), the Kyun and their subjects launched a step-wise attack on Neo Kerala in the autumn of 1032 AD. Hundreds of large ships and an even larger number of small boats—estimated between 500 and 100 in number—set out into the Bay Of Bengal and the Palka Straight ominously.

First, the invaders seized the islands of Sasha and Ikiel about halfway between the Andaman And Nicobar Islands and the main island of Neo Kerala. Quickly overcoming desperate resistance from the islands' approximately 300 Malayali residents, the Kyun troops slaughtered them all and sailed on to the west.

The Kyun Empire landed just south of modern Napram and sacked every city north of them. Himan, Altzi, Himar, Ali, Lars, Chullikara, Kottody and finally, the prize of the campaign...San! They besieged the city for 20 days, and when a hole was finally made in the city walls, the troops were hungry for blood. They sacked the city and killed many people. They stormed into the palace and found nothing, because the royal family had ran away from the city to a worthless little hunting lodge called Kititori in some small Neo Keralaite town called New Kochi.

The Kyun sent a message to Kititori. Surrender and we'll keep your royal family alive. You can keep your independence as a tributary vassal state of the Kyun. The messengers were not allowed to enter the fortress so they just shouted it from a field. And then they were chased away by the royal army of Neo Kerala and also mostly the Hetur Militia. So the armies of the Kyun Empire surrounded the palace and got crushed. Most of the army of Kyun Empire were encircled, and the rest were captured. This gave the Awellian, Palas, Cholas, West Ganges, Japanese, Chinese, Burman, Vietnamese, Thais, Khmer and Delhi Sultanate the morale boost and army boost which helped kill the Kyun Empire.

Thousands of treasure brought from caravans flooded into Neo Kerala including the cremation jars of the King Kyun The Terrifying and his armour and weapons. This war became one of the most important moments in the history of the The Republic of Popular Councils of Neo Kerala. Their power and honour grew and an eternal alliance between Awell islands and Neo Kerala was created.
