WELCOME TO THE REJECTED REALMS...

The Rejected Realms is the only region in NationStates where players can never be ejected or banned. Zero! Zip! Zilch! Nada!

That doesn't mean we don't see our fair share of rejects, however! No, no, no! To the contrary: The Rejected Realms is a 'repository' of sorts for ejected and banned players. If you're ejected or banned, this is where you go. One of our former delegates, Kandarin, once remarked that 'The Rejected Realms should be a place that makes being rejected seem like not such a bad deal,' and we try to live up to that ideal even now. The Rejected Realms is a constitutional democracy with a regularly elected delegate, one of the most active and most read newspapers in NationStates and, not to mention, arguably the longest-serving army in the game's history!

OUR HISTORY...

We were created on April 27th, 2003! Prior to that date, NationStates was struggling with spammers and troublemakers, so the site admins gave regional delegates the ability to eject and ban their residents to help monitor their region - to help facilitate this game change, The Rejected Realms was created by the site admins, as a place where ejected and banned players go after being ejected and banned.

Our first World Factbook Entry (written by Max Barry) read 'A desolate wasteland, the destination of nations ejected from other regions.'

'Desolate wasteland,' sounds just about right, at the time, unfortunately. Naturally, the Rejected Realms was absolute anarchy at the beginning - you can't create a region for ejected and banned players - and not expect it to be a bit chaotic without some kind of political order! That political order came with a player called Gres - he created an army, The Rejected Realms Army (RRA) with the idea that an army of 'rejects' could seek revenge on their former regions - devoted to fighting delegates who abuse their power. Let's just say, the name stuck, but the idea never panned out...when Gres's nation was deleted, it was up to a native newbie at the time, Kandarin to rise to the delegacy and free it from the iron grip of a major imperialist organisation called the Atlantic Alliance which sought to occupy the Rejected Realms. Kandarin would win out and serve as delegate of the Rejected Realms for the next seven years; he was widely regarded as a much needed stabilizing force and over time, the Rejected Realms would become known as 'Kandy's BBQ' after our infamous barbecue.

Overthrowing Atlantic Alliance, however, meant that all of Atlantic Alliance's powerful allies (e.g., The South Pacific, The New Meritocracy, North Atlantic) at the time now considered us their enemy! We needed a reputation-boost and fast! It was then that the RRA took on a new role - instead of invading regions, we would fight occupations, invasions and injustices abroad. Our first mission was in Japan on July 2003. Invaders from Ireland sought to invade Japan, but the region was defended by the RRA. Commander Gres wrote to the natives of Japan then, 'The RRA is a group of highly active soldiers that is dedicated to keeping tyrants from taking over regions. As you all know Ireland has issued threats to this region. We will not allow Japan and its good people to be subject to tyrants simply because your delegate is MIA. We will continue to remain in this region until the new delegate is securely in place. At that time we will leave and allow the good people of Japan to go about their lives in uninterrupted peace.' Link[1]

The Rejected Realms - and NationStates, for that matter - would change forever on August 28, 2003, when Francos Spain rose to the delegacy of The Pacific and declared the creation of a new government, The New Pacific Order, with him as its dear leader and esteemed autocrat. Potentially hundreds of residents were ejected and banned from The Pacific and these ejected and banned members formed a counter-revolutionary freedom-fighter army called 'The Pacific Army,' with the hope of returning a democratic government to The Pacific. The Rejected Realms, becoming the new home for many of these rejects, would become deeply involved with the conflict - fighting alongside the Pacific Army - in what would become an all-out war ("The Great War") between Francos' Pacific and dozens of major world powers which sought to liberate The Pacific from Francos Spain and a government which they considered to be tyrannical and unjust.

The Great War would rage on for many years, but it would cool as the years passed by ... Francos Spain would retire... liberations after liberations would fail.... soon, most of the established order in NationStates, to some extent, acknowledged the legitimacy of francoist rule in The Pacific. It was during this period, though, that the Rejected Realms gained a strong sense of what it was as a region - it was a diplomatic superpower, engaging with the Alliance Defense Network (ADN) and later, the Founderless Regions Alliance (FRA), always building alliances and always maintaining a strong network of friends abroad which would support the Rejected Realms in any time of need or emergency.

Today, The Rejected Realms's government, its democracy and its constitution, stands as the product of a flurry of constitutional negotiations which occurred throughout 2011, after Kandarin's retirement, with the hopes of reinvigorating the Rejected Realms and ensuring a smooth leadership transition that could bring both political change and some much needed stability to the region. Since then, The Rejected Realms has held regular elections and benefited from the leadership of a number of mature, diplomatic figures, who helped reassert the Rejected Realms as an enviable global power... Sedgistan, Frattastan, Guy... and it has never forgotten its role in the world as a peacemaker and friend to those in need.
