Hesterinball Rules

Hesterinball Rules c.2018-2019 (this game is like Gaelic football)

Rule 1- The field shall be 95-115 metres long and 55-65 metres wide. It must have a centre dot and a semi-circle at both ends, being 35 metres wide and 17.5 metres long, and a dot at the middle of the semi-circle. The goal shall be however high the association want, but, needs to be 3m wide and 2.39 metres under the crossbar. The goal has to have a net behind it, supported by two beams. The ball must be near-spherical with a diameter of 20-23cm and must be made out of leather.

Rule 2- There will be 15 players a team, with one goal-tender in the goal. The other players must spread themselves out on the field but in their own half until the start of the game. Then they can go to anywhere on the pitch but they can't be offside (rule is exactly like in soccer/football).

Rule 3- All players on the pitch must wear their teams shirt, shorts and socks, and cleats/trainers of their own choice. Goal-tenders or GTs have to wear different colours designed especially for them. Mouth guards are optional.

Rule 4- A goal under the bar is five points, and over the bar is 2 points. The ball has to be between the posts, unless the GT blocks the ball and it goes over the bar and between the posts, it is a foul-out to the other team, outside the semi-circle.

Rule 5- A foul kick is a violation of the laws/rules and, if done inside the semi-circle, they have to take it on the foul dot without defensive guards in the way, instead, the rest of the players (not the GT) have to stay outside the semi-circle until the ball has been kicked aiming towards the net. If missed, the GT starts play by kicking it forwards towards a teammate. A foul kick outside the box must be in the place of the foul, can have defensive guards in a radius of at least 5m near the ball but need to comply with the men in the semi-circle.

Rule 6- There can only be 5 players in the semi-circle at one time. This includes the GT.

Rule 7- Any tackles above the shoulder shall be considered a foul and will be a foul kick to the tackler's opposition. If you commit a foul five times, you are fouled-out and have to spend the rest of the match in the stands.

Rule 8- Triple dribble (like in basketball) is a foul. You can catch it twice and still move, but the third time, you have to pass or shoot.

Rule 9- The captains of each team shall be in the middle before the game and the referee shall flip a coin to see who shall kick-off to the other team and who shall receive. At half-time, the teams switch (kickers receive and vice-versa).

Rule 10- There must be a referee and two linesmen for offsides and flank fouls. They must all be IHBRC (International Hesterinball Referees Confed.) registered.

Rule 11- Each game will have two halves of 50 minutes with a break in-between, lasting 25 minutes. Overtime doesn't happen, but added time can due to injuries, fights or any other disturbances.

Rule 12- Corruption is disallowed, and, if it occurs, both teams shall get adequate bans and fines. If the refs do it, their license is revoked and they'll be permanently banned.

Rule 13- If a player has an 'open range' of dribbling (10 metres clear in front of them) and get fouled, the offender is given 4 fouls. This is called a 'clearway'.

Rule 14- Any inappropriate celebrations shall be registered as 3 fouls.

Rule 15- If the ball goes to you, you must NOT use your feet to do a first touch, unless it is a pass or an attempt at goal. If this rule is broken, it's a foul kick to the opposing team.

Rule 16- Referees uniform must be:

A black polo shirt with the IHBRC logo on it.
Black shorts with the IHBRC logo on it.
Black socks
Cleats/trainers of their choice.

Rule 17- To suggest any improvements, TG me. I'm happy to help!
