Past Two Weeks
Time for a nostalgic trip back to the stone age when I was in government! Remember Past Two Weeks? That thing I set up but actually didn’t have enough time to do? Well, it’s back - for this past fortnight at least. I’ll likely at least make it from time to time. So, let’s start off. When I do this, I’ll only be doing the news, TWItter and the League thread unless I’ve got stuff I need to advertise - you’ll be able to find the RPs in the RP Newsletters that seem to pop up on my screen when I look around on TWI’s front page.

In the news
People just don’t seem to be fans of the Vancouvian Government at the moment, none moreso than their citizens. Looks like it has something to do with an unwelcomed blockade of an island rich people used to love and get sunburnt on. Surprise surprise, a subdivision of Ainslie the media is hyping up to be important are having their elections with Brianna Hailes, whom the vast majority of ACEGAD have a crush on rivalling raving lunatic Xavier Broadby, political janitor Isaac Dobson and wide-eyed, optimistic Lucas Gilmore and Ashton Ardill, who is attempting a cleanup job. An actually important election (in contrast to the Weslandic one) is happening in New Totzka with growing tensions surrounding you’re run of the mill supposedly underrepresented ethnic group want independence making waves in the nation’s elections.

The Alteran Republics have had their productive capacity damaged after an explosion in a big government building in their capital city which was described as by one eyewitness as having "signification damage". Appears that the Government might not actually be able to govern at the moment. Handy timeline included, with government advertising just below that like nothing has happened.

Keipan is totally not deploying a China-style debt trap by offering aid to the Alteran Republics, as they even ready themselves to deploy troops if necessary. Keipan looks ready to rush to the aid of the nation.

When it all hits the fan, don’t worry - just think to yourself, at least you’re not living in Almorea. Unemployment is high, the government can’t seem to manage its economy and… wait…. There’s a trade deal! In their time of need, Athara Magarat prepares to sign an agreement with the struggling nation, known as the AMRETA (+20 points for a nice sounding acronym, all good trade agreements should have one). The agreement appears to lay groundwork for future negotiations and backs the Central Canal Authority.

Meanwhile in Oturia, the government is doing the most sub-saharan african thing i’ve seen in TWI for a long time (sorry, Menna Shuli) and expanding presidential terms with no term limits. Their media also have commentary on that bombing in Altera.

Negarakita scares the region with a non-english header with what appears to be a religious opinion editorial. Back to stuff that definitely won’t get us all on a government watchlist… we have ourselves an update on the Totzkan election! Seems like those pesky ethnics are going to have an independence vote after all. Equally handy timeline to Altera’s one earlier featured below it. We get ourselves a classic winners and losers political post from Totzka, with the ethnics winning big and all seems to be relatively stable otherwise.

In shadowy, dark and even-more-quitely-authoritarian-than-Ainslie-nation Noronica, the Government reacts to the explosion in their closest ally’s headquarters. Fear not though, it does not end there - turmoil is getting kicked up in Noronica as well as people want the totally not foreshadowy ‘Overlord’ to abdicate. Cold, emotionless or distraught Keith Ryansan gives an address to his constituents in the Alteran Republics. Casual kinda slavery advert underneath. Jane Weston, that President we mentioned before calls for a summit to work out the terror issue without noticing that there is a framework for an interpol to be set up through the league. Nice big disclaimers from Dunik City News which essentially recognise how desperate the organisation was in what surprisingly was a relatively slow news week in the nation.

Cheoju, totally not korean nation begins to work on a trade agreement with Coressia and appears to be bringing in economic experts amongst other rich people to see how the deal would benefit the two nations. Look who’s back… back again. Unsurprisingly, the Army backs their war hero who also happens to be the Overlord. Seriously, are the Carlisles in Townside the only war heroes who don’t do something dodgy in The Western Isles? We got ourselves some riots and a… and i quote a “self proclaimed ‘civil rights movement’” whilst the state media paints the Prime Minister as absent and positions the Overlord as a more competent leader. The PM seems to be using the trademarked Ahnslen stall/excuse of “We are currently reviewing the situation” to defend himself whilst the Overlord of Noronica continues to tour areas where Noronica probably shouldn’t be in the first place. Tweets with expletives in news articles, boy i haven’t seen much of them… where’s West Suomi/Mandeka when you need him… Believe it or not, it seems there’s another election on the way other than some subdivision in Ainslie and the Totzkan angry ethnics bonanza - we’ve got ourselves O Povo Mariano from Dragao Do Mar giving us some fancy graphs. Dunik City News once again showing President Weston doing something dodgy, with now a classic North African political move being done - calling foreign people terrorists and threatening to arrest them if they try to enter Oturia. Meanwhile, we have all round Arab lad Imam Sayyid Abdul-Malik Husayn al-Rassid from Dahyan speaking to his people with a stirringly religious speech bound to make some crusading nations of the Mesder a little concerned.

Political twist in New Totzka as the angry ethnics team up with the President in order to get themselves a referendum on their independence. Ilsean media comes out with a news article which appears to not hide the redactedness of the news article, with Polar Svalbard seeming to out-China Keipan. Balnik once again cannot into missile whilst mostly pointless elections in Wesland, the largest electorate in Ainslie continue.

And in tweets-ville
Cavalloan pop star plugs a single whilst Albinus Rector of the Alteran Republics chillingly writes about his meeting with the now presumed dead legislature of the nation. Meanwhile, then-Praetor Ryansan acts all salty whilst revealing his monumental conflict of interest. Let’s watch his quest to establish the Alteran Republics as a corporatocracy. Mr Rector sneaks in one extra tweet before the Foreign Office reveals the death of Altera’s lead diplomat. McIntosh, Noronnican PM who looks like a celebrity far into his 60s ensures “stability and safety” in Altera. Death toll of explosion reaches 140. Turns out Rector’s last tweet was from an aide who was trapped in the rubble. Army lad tweets excitingly about meeting his Overlord whilst Altera media releases an unsurprising tweet given the nation we’re talking about about the economy amidst a national crisis. Seemingly ignorant Yuki Florentine gives us all a crash course on government debt using the case study of paying off her private farm whilst the Alteran Foreign Office reassures travellers of the safe nature of travelling between Altera and Noronica. In other news, totally not chinese inspired social score system implemented by now leader of Altera’s business is seeking to fuse meritocracy, corporatocracy and democracy. Almorean lad comments on the angry ethnics in New Totzka.

And in the league
Keipanese delegate to the League joins a long line of representatives who see the halls of the League as “hallowed”. Nezaevan delegate Maoilios White provides an early taster of patriotism and his angsty introversion which I can’t wait to read more of. Marian delegate welcomes both of them like neither of them are even slightly suspicious.
