of your civilization

  1. TECH TIER:
    Technological capabilities

    • This is up to you, however, you must submit an RP example to a mentor if you want to be Tier VIII or higher.

    • See the Civ-Index for a list of tech tiers.

  2. POPULATION
    Number of inhabitants

    • The maximum population your civilization can have is dependent on its tech tier:

      TIER I

      TIER II

      TIER III

      TIER IV

      TIER V

      TIER VI

      TIER VII

      TIER VIII

      TIER IX

      100 trillion

      90 trillion

      80 trillion

      70 trillion

      60 trillion

      50 trillion

      40 trillion

      30 trillion

      20 trillion

  3. NUMBER OF PLANETARY SYSTEMS:
    Interstellar extent/regional map

    1. You must register with a mentor via Discord to be on the map.

    2. The number of planetary systems your civilization can start out with depends on its tech tier:

      TIERS I-II

      TIERS III-IV

      TIERS V-VI

      TIERS VII-VIII

      TIER IX

      1 system

      2 systems

      3 systems

      4 systems

      5 systems

    3. Get on the regional map by sending a telegram to the regional astrographer (Rahnia) with the following information:

The number of systems you're claiming

      A name for each one

Which of them is your civilization's home system

      Their locations on the map

The color you'd like to be on the map

    4. You can colonize additional planetary systems by submitting additional claims.

      • Additional claims you make after your starting one are subject to the guidelines established here.

      • You can claim colonies once a month. The number of systems you can claim each time corresponds with your nation's tech level:

        TIERS I-III

        TIERS IV-VI

        TIERS VII-IX

        1 system per month

        2 systems per month

        3 systems per month

      • In addition, there are caps on the number of systems you can have in a contiguous chain, and the number of systems you can claim in total:

        Tech tier

Max. length of planetary system chains

Max. limit of total planetary systems

        I-III

        4 systems

        10 systems

        IV-VI

        6 systems

        15 systems

        VII-IX

        8 systems

        20 systems

    5. Annexations and contested systems in RPs will show up on the map. Annexed systems do not count against your system cap.

  4. NUMBER OF MILITARY SPACECRAFT
    Space fleet size size

    • The maximum number of military spacecraft (excluding fighters and small drones) your civilization can have is determined by the number of systems it possesses and its tech tier:

      TIER I

      TIER II

      TIER III

      TIER IV

      TIER V

      TIER VI

      TIER VII

      TIER VIII

      TIER IX

      Total systems * 10,000

      Total systems * 9,000

      Total systems * 8,000

      Total systems * 7,000

      Total systems * 6,000

      Total systems * 5,000

      Total systems * 4,000

      Total systems * 3,000

for our RPs

  1. GODMODDING

Godmodding is a form of unfair RPing. While there are many different types of godmodding, all of them generally consist of unfairly changing something in an RP to benefit yourself. Godmodding is heavily frowned upon and can get you kicked out of our RPs if you do it. The following are all types of godmodding:
      • Dictating the actions of anything that isn't yours: In an RP, you are only allowed to control your characters, vehicles; etc. unless another player gives you permission to control theirs. Even if you act upon something that is controlled by another player, it is still that player's responsibility to describe the effect of your action, not yours.

      • Refusing to lose: Another form of godmodding occurs when RPers refuse to acknowledge any type of loss on their behalf. If you're going into a conflict with another nation (war, your characters are fighting, etc.), you will suffer some form of damage. Be sure to include this in your posts.

      • Overpowered RPing: A common form of godmodding occurs when RPers create weapons or characters that are unrealistically powerful. They might create weapons that can cause an excessive amount of damage or characters that are seemingly impossible to kill. This is a science-fiction region, which means that special abilities and powerful weapons must have some sort of logical, scientific explanation.

      • Moving target RPing: Perhaps the most common form of godmodding occurs when players constantly change aspects of their nations, characters, or even their environment, so that they always have an antidote to use against any new obstacles. It's important to ensure that other RPers know the details about your nation's military and characters (and vice versa) to ensure that no one makes something up on the spot in an RP.

      * For information on what technology you can and can't use, see the TECH section.

  2. METAGAMING

Metagaming is using information gained outside an RP to influence or dictate the actions of your characters/nation/etc. You must RP from your characters' point of view, not yours-- if you know something, this does not necessarily mean your characters do. The following are all types of metagaming:

      • Your characters or spaceships are suddenly aware of a threat they had no reasonable way of detecting.

      • Your characters or spaceships avoid obstacles they were not aware of.

      • Your nation prepares for an attack that it could not possibly have any premonition for.

      * If there is a reasonable explanation for a character/space fleet/etc. to detect the presence of something, then it isn't against the rules.

  3. TECH

      * For more information, see the CIV-INDEX.

The type of technology your nation can use is linked to its tier in the technological advancement tree. General tech specifications, like the speed of your civilization's space travel, are covered in the civilization classification factbook. While the exact technological prowess of your nation is up to you, ensure that it falls within the bounds of its tech level.

To keep our RPs fair and to prevent strategic rips in the space time continuum, the following technologies may not be weaponized in our RPs:

      • Inter-dimensional Technology

      • Time Travel Technology

      • Tech that Warps Spacetime

      • Teleportation Technology

In addition: you must submit an RP example to a mentor if you want to be Tier VIII or higher on the technological advancement tree.

  4. PLAGIARISM & ORIGINAL CONTENT

Plagiarism is using another person's nation concepts, art, and/or descriptions rather than one's own counterparts to provide depth to one's nation without permission. Plagiarism is heavily frowned upon both in Axiom and in the greater roleplaying community, and as such can vary in punishment from being barred from RPing with that nation to being deleted from Nationstates. The following are all types of plagiarism:

      • Copying an independent artist's nation to use as your own without permission.

      • Copying an independent artist's art and description of said art to use as your own without permission.

      • Copying an independent artist's art without making clear that said art can be taken down on request from said independent artist.

Original content and concepts are strongly encouraged, and Axiom's mentors are more than happy to help with all world-building and creative assistance required.

OH GOOD LORD THIS IS RIDICULOUSLY COMPLICATED/OVERWHELMING/I NEED AN ADULT.
We assure you it's quite simple! Telegram an RP mentor or ping one on Discord for help!
