Emperor Drex Tellgar VII (WIP)

The current Tellgarian Emperor, Drex Tellgar VII, is relatively new to his job, having taken the throne only two years ago at the age of 25. While he is relatively young and unknown to the world, an official biography of his life has been released to the Imperial Archives, which are publicly available on the internet. The biography is updated yearly to chronicle His Imperial Majesty's life.

Excerpt from Chapter 1, titled "Birth and Early Childhood"

" His Imperial majesty was born on November 23rd, 1991, to Emperor John Tellgar IV and Empress Marie Tellgar I. His Imperial Majesty was described as a healthy infant, although slightly larger than the average Tellgarian infant. During His early years, from the ages of 2 to 5, he was cared for by a small team of governesses and tutors. Additionally, during this time period, his only sibling was born, a younger sister named Anne. On his fifth birthday, his father, along with others, began to tutor him. It was said that the relationship between the father and son was distant, and that His Imperial Majesty was closer with Commander Oswald Gawrys than his own father. The aging Commander of the Golden Dragoons tutored the young Prince in martial studies, such as strategy and personal combat. His Imperial Majesty has said that during these lessons, the Commander also imparted on him a desire to expand both the Empire and its Golden Dragoons."

Excerpt from Chapter 2, titled "Adolescence"

" His Imperial Majesty Entered into the Golden Dragoons Academy of Lunaris at the behest of his martial studies mentor, Commander Gawrys, at the age of 14. His Imperial Majesty's father was initially opposed to the idea, but assented after a lengthy discussion with His Imperial Majesty and Commander Gawrys. In the Academy, His Imperial Majesty was initially given preferential treatment, such as receiving personal lodging rather than staying in dorms like his classmates. Eventually, however, His Imperial Majesty convinced the Academy's leadership to treat him as an equal to His classmates. His Imperial Majesty was moved into a dorm room with a single roommate, future Commander of the Golden Dragoons Robert Savoy. Savoy and His Imperial Majesty learned a great deal from each other, primarily due to their differences in class. Whereas Savoy instructed His Imperial Majesty in the art of street combat, His Imperial Majesty instructed Savoy in the mannerisms of the Upper Class. This transformed Savoy, a brutish lad with a history of brawling on the streets of Lunaris, into a polite young cadet of the Golden Dragoons. The two were not without conflict, however, as they competed frequently for the favor of their instructors. In their academic and strategic lessons, His Imperial Majesty bested Savoy at every turn, while Savoy frequently proved his physical power over His Imperial Majesty. The two even had an argument in front of the dorms - a common occurrence - which came to fists. When the fight was broken up, a student who witnessed the fight stated that His Imperial Majesty was bleeding from his nose and that Savoy was relatively uninjured. The two were punished for their scuffle, but they convinced the Academy's leadership - through begging and pleading - to allow them to remain roommates. This would not be the last fight involving the two, but it would be the last time the two would ever strike each other. Two weeks after His Imperial Majesty's 15th birthday, the pair had a violent confrontation with another group of cadets. Officially, the incident was recorded as hazing, but it was truthfully an encounter involving Savoy and one of the other boys' girlfriend, where His Imperial Majesty supported his friend against the larger group of boys. The boys were frequently in trouble outside of class, but it seemed that His Imperial Majesty's charm always managed to keep them from being separated or kicked out of the Academy. Realistically, the instructors were still giving His Imperial Majesty preferential treatment. However, his performance inside of class was always said to be exemplary, aside from the physical classes. Nonetheless, His Imperial Majesty was removed from the academy for health reasons early into his second year at the Academy for health reasons. Following a brief stay at the Imperial Palace's hospital, His Imperial Majesty resumed his instruction from his father and other tutors, including Gawrys, who had then retired from his position as Commander of the Golden Dragoons. During this period, he was said to have been in a depressed state, as he missed the freedom and comradery he had found at the Academy, and he especially missed spending his free time with Savoy, who was not allowed to leave the Academy, even to visit with His Imperial Majesty. His Imperial Majesty stated that, after a lengthy lecture from his father, he threw himself into his studies. His Imperial Majesty found solace in his studies, particularly in Tellgarian military history. 'When I find myself studying Tellgaria's great military victories, I suddenly find myself on the battlefield. It is as if I am commanding the battle, watching brave Tellgarian men crush the enemies of their Empire. It truly is a magical thing,' His Imperial Majesty stated in an interview with the Lunaris Times. When His Imperial Majesty was not studying, he often found himself attempting to sneak out of the Imperial Palace, either to visit with Savoy at the Academy, or to visit his mentor, Gawrys, who was in and out of hospitals during this time period."
