SHORT OVERVIEW OF LEADER GOES HERE

Early Life

During childhood, Vox lived a very lavish and inordinately wealthy lifestyle. His family had inherited its wealth from several generations dating back to 13th century. The Strydom family held the titles of dukes and duchesses in the kingdom of Dalkia (present-day Azuria), where it had amassed its wealth. When the Mantis War came to fruition, The Strydom Family abdicated from their positions of power to avoid being killed by rival factions and used their wealth to build weapons for all sides of the war, bringing them exorbitant amounts of wealth. With this wealth, Vox lived a comfortable life under his parents’ care; however, his parents were more focused on running their company leaving Vox to take care of himself.

Years passed and he decided to join the Azurian Army, ultimately becoming a Lieutenant. He made many friends along the way, from several walks of life. His men under his leadership treated him like a brother, and for the first time he felt like he had a family. In 1998, in part of an international coalition, Azurian troops were sent to aid US troops and the KLA in retaliating against Yugoslavia for their ethnic cleansing. First Lieutenant Vox Strydom led a platoon of 16 soldiers during the Battle of Košare. Fierce fighting ensued, and even though the KLA had strength in numbers and equipment, the battle ended in a stalemate. During the intense firefight, several of Vox’s men died, while he was left wounded from a bomb blast and a knife to the gut. An Azurian special reconnaissance unit helped to reinforce Vox’s unit in Košare and rescue them. In the end, 3 out of the 16 men under Strydom’s command survived, the man who saved his unit was none other than Zio Ryujin, a warrant officer in the Azurian army at the time.

Strydom returned back home suffering from PTSD, and constantly asked himself if fighting for his nation was worth it. Being the bearer of bad news, he went from parent to parent to inform them of the loss of their sons. He noticed how the majority of these families were stricken with poverty, how the government took advantage of the poor and used them to fight for their own battles. Feeling betrayed, Strydom resigned from his position in the military and donated all of his money to humanitarian aid. 2 years later he would be known as one of the key figures of the Azurian Civil War, fighting alongside Queen Hizaki I to reinstate a new government. When his family found out about this, he was immediately disowned and lost his inheritance. It never bothered him for his past experiences rendered them as mere garbage in his sight. Shortly after, he would be recruited as a member of DML where he developed a strong loyalty to its leader, Zio Ryujin, for his teachings that tied to a certain individual, a former hero of the US during the Cold War.

Rise in Politics

In the aftermath of the Azurian Civil War, Vox was left with no home, no family, no money and no dignity. The nation he fought for was left in ruins and many of his friends had fallen due to war. He had nothing left but the people under him, so he let go of his rifle and reached for the hammer. Rebuilding Azuria was his only goal up at that point. Queen Hizaki I took notice of his devotion and hard work and appointed him as Prime Minister.
