The Hippy State of Zerophix is a gargantuan, genial nation, renowned for its rum-swilling pirates, rampant corporate plagiarism, and punitive income tax rates. The compassionate, cheerful, devout population of 38.323 billion Zerophixians enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, liberal, socially-minded morass — juggles the competing demands of Environment, Education, and Social Policy. The income tax rate is 100%.

The large but stagnant Zerophixian economy, worth 702 trillion Shiny Beads a year, is driven almost entirely by government activity, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, extremely specialized black market in Book Publishing. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. State-owned companies are the norm. Average income is 18,330 Shiny Beads, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Superfoods are often seen as supervillains, the government confiscates candy from babies for 'the greater good' of the nation, visitors often mistake the toiletplex at music festivals for the main stage, and they unpaved paradise and tore up a parking lot (ooh, bop bop bop). Crime, especially youth-related, is so common that it is unusual to encounter someone following the law, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. Zerophix's national animal is the Pink Elephant, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Zerophix is ranked 1,340th in the world and 63rd in The North Pacific for Largest Governments, scoring 60.93 on the Bureaucratic Comprehensiveness Rating Scale Index.
