Read dispatch

The Royal Haliczan Army was formed in 1656, shortly after the country declared independence. It fought in bloody Rumelian Civil War which lasted 4 years. After winning this conflict, it underwent a reform proposed by its first Commander - Grand Hetman Albert Höllendorf, as it was exceedingly numerous, but poorly equipped.

The next major reform was enacted in 1763, when the regimental system was enacted. Regiments received their own numbers, distinctive features and, over the years, also official nicknames, for example "Ogary Wojny" - "Warhounds". Furthermore, the rank system was changed, with generals replacing the earlier hetmans.

In 1908 the first armoured car model was introduced and in 1917 first tanks entered service. Starting from 1912, the Army controlled military aviation, which became a seperate military branch in 1919. Even though cavalry is no longer in combat use in the RHA, many armoured units retain their names from before the adoption of tanks and continue the traditions of various cavalry units. The connection is further emphasised by the armoured equivalent of a battalion being named a dywizjon and oftentimes including the name of the cavalry unit whose traditions it cultivates (for instance dywizjon dragonów - dragoon battalion). Enlisted soldiers in those units have rank names dependent on the unit's name, i.e. ułan (uhlan).

Structure

Branches:

Soldiers belonging to different branches are distinguished by the colour of their shoulder patch edging and beret. Naturally, the former only applies to their service and dress uniforms.
