The Commonwealth of Waqanda is a colossal, safe nation, ruled by The Waqanda Royal Family with an even hand, and renowned for its frequent executions, state-planned economy, and compulsory military service. The hard-nosed population of 5.764 billion Waqandans are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The medium-sized, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defense, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Golden City of Birnin Zana. The average income tax rate is 35.4%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The large but underdeveloped Waqandan economy, worth 170 trillion Vibraniums a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is broadly diversified, is led by the Book Publishing industry, with major contributions from Woodchip Exports, Furniture Restoration, and Cheese Exports. Average income is 29,507 Vibraniums, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The government has declined to declare any particular religion as its 'official' one, all beauty contests have been banned, self-driving cars obey the road rules even during emergencies, and the term cold case has taken on a very literal meaning. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Waqanda's national animal is the Black Panther Goddess Bast, which can occasionally be seen sifting through garbage in the nation's cities.

Waqanda is ranked 155,542nd in the world and 31st in Non Aligned Movement for Most Efficient Economies, scoring 21 on the Krugman-Greenspan Business Outlook Index.
